According to local tradition, during the famine up to 400 people may have perished between Louisburgh and Delphi; many of them so light and weak that they were blown into the lake by the strong wind. Corpses were found by the roadside, some of them with grass in their mouths from one last futile attempt at nourishment.

Thanks....thats a pretty poor version to be honest, i have improved quite a bit since then, i really ought to delete it and upload a better version....lol
A lot of English people who are sleeping in shop doorways and back alleys would be very glad of it.

Did you get permission from the owner - his bungalow is to the right of the entrance lane on the road. I spoke to him years ago, very nice chap. I did a full photo shoot... did you know that you were standing in the (maybe) bottom of a SINK HOLE. There is (was) an entrance (probably collapsed) to an extensive cave system down there. If you go there again take care not to jump about on what you think is solid ground - it may well surprise you with a very big basement indeed. Take great care that you don't go where the water goes - you might not like it.
OK so we know where the water comes from but where does it go to?
you cant really tell, but it must soak through the rocks into an underground stream
