A spirited ride though Waipoua Kauri Forest on the #865ccinterceptor - Raw Exhaust [4K]
Going for a spirited ride though Waipoua Kauri Forest, This run is most likely the fastest time I've done on the Interceptor. Video doesn't show how bad this road is - bumps, uneven road surfaces, bad road camber, on coming traffic who like to cut the lines coming around corners etc. Perfect for honing your skill set in on the bike.

Electrical issue on my Royal Enfield Interceptor is fixed!
มุมมอง 20014 วันที่ผ่านมา
So having a on going electrical issues with my Interceptor, I finally booked the bike with Motorcycle Doctors in Auckland to get sorted. Turns out the coil packs on powertronic ecu were over heating and caused all the misfiring issues with my bike. The stock ecu has been re-tuned with more power and torque. Dyno read out at the end of the video. #865ccinterceptor
Short ride with a good mate

Had a good mate come up from Christchurch. We went for a short super chilled ride out to Kai Iwi Lakes, I forgot the battery for my Gopro so the video footage is from the Insta360 mounted on the rear of the T120. I'm on my #865ccinterceptor and Andrew rode my old mans T120 Bonneville.

First time riding though Mangamuka Gorge on a bike,Road is mostly rebuilt due to a storm washing parts of the road away. The new part of the road was fantastic to ride on. It was the first time riding on this type of road so some of the tight slow uphill corners did catch me out. I think i did alright as the Interceptor is a very forgiving motorcycle. Tastefully modded Canyon red out there🥹🫶🏻! I got mine 5 months ago (Canyon red)
Thanks, Yes fantastic bikes....heaps of fun!
Awesome, I find videos like this to be relaxing almost therapeutic I wish you many miles of enjoyment, my only complaint is, I'm not riding my own Interceptor🙂
Thanks for that. It's always good to hear that some people like this type of content as a lot of people don't. Have you ever though about making your own videos? It doesn't have to cost a lot to get started.
Sounds like it is running much better since the "tune". The view from the left rear is a good way to see how the drive chain is running while underway. Very enjoyable video to watch for we Interceptor owners...
Yes the bike is going great, With the Insta360 cameras you can get some really good shots, Its good to hear you like the shots as video editing takes longer to do than the bike rides..But I enjoy making them as i feel the quality of my videos are getting better and better.
After a good ride covering some good distance, i actually enjoy coming home . Relaxing with a cold beer on the porch.
Yes, I've got two kids so coming home to relax really isn't a thing lol maybe that's why i like my bikes so much😅
What part of nz u in
Northland at this stage
I'm clutchless every gear after 1st on my GT650. Just roll off half-throttle and click up. You won't hurt it... dog cut gears are literally designed for it. THAT creates a quick GT650. 🏍💨
Hey thanks for that, I'll give that ago.
@@ivananda865ccinterceptor oh I'll be your new best friend after this. Lol
@musicmaestro88 lol, maybe if i don't wipe myself or the bike out.
@ivananda865ccinterceptor lol... you won't. In fact... u can practice clutchless at regular speeds. You will say "well this is easy". Haha. You won't dump that bike ever... you're a pro!
Thats awesome bro ill take mine out this weekend and see what a stock 650 can do
@torynblue2591 Hey bro we should hook up for a group ride. We haven't had one for a while.
Personally for mine if I want the fastest time I hold revs a little hold semi slip the clutch in second drops a considerable amount of time, but then again I’m on stock gearing so may be different 😂 no love for my clutch
To be honest i haven't had much time learning how to get my bike off the line better. I'll give it another try soon. With the clutch the tuner put some harder springs in my bike for the retune. Seems to be holding up fine.
@@ivananda865ccinterceptor also just noticed your audio is getting better aswell saw that you got the dji mics cant beat them
have you tried dumping the clutch at 4.5k rpm
Not yet, I don't think I'll need to rev it that high to get a good launch. I try it around 2.5 - 3K and go from there.
Whats the name of the handle bar? Looks awesome!
As far as i know it's called drag bar. Sorry i couldn't be more helpful.
Geeezuz - I know that road so well. Rode it so many times - nice to see the Opo pub is still standing… You blew past my old stomping ground, kotu Loop rd, on the right before you go over the hill to Opo..hahahahaha Good roads up there. I use to work one week on, one off - and in the off, I’d ride all over Northland, cause my Whanau are in Kaikohe. Geezuz, now I’m a Maori living in the White Mountains of Northern New Hampshire - USA - and a American Citizen. Bugger me - it’s been a journey. Nice vlog, and thanks for the memories bro. Cheers.
Cheers bro, Yes the roads up here are fanatic to ride on, I live in the area so if you have any roads you'll like to see let me know and I'll video them on the next ride. Keep safe mate, The States is a crazy place.
What is the small third dial fixed above the stock instruments ?
Hello, It's an oil temperature gauge.
Glad to hear that you got it sorted. The amount of rear wheel horsepower is higher than the current Speed Twin 900 which is heavier and more expensive; well done mate!
Thanks for that. Yes, it was getting to the stage where i couldn't trust the bike to get me home.
Are you ever gonna get off the bike so we can take a look at it or are you just gonna keep riding and talking?…
I'll do that in the next video. Cheers
Sorry but your sound is so muffled I gave up watching.
Thanks for the input, I have been upgrading my gear to make a better video.
Your bike sounds FANTASTIC!!!!! Bravo! Based on that alone I’m now considering one of these over a Thruxton. If you can listen to this and not smile, you’re a little short on soul.
I would buy the Thruxton. The amount of money i have spent to get this bike at the level its at. Save your time and money buy the Triumph.
A “blat”?🤔 And what’s the little jar of liquid on the handlebars?
Brake fluid 😢
Hello, its brake reservoir
Please post build videos of this big bore interceptor.
Hello, I'm unsure on what you're asking for, If your wanting videos of the engine being built i didn't take any. I started making videos after the bike was built.
@ivananda865ccinterceptor it's ok sir, thank for reverting.
Turn it into a scrambler,....or just buy a Scrambler. You say it has no soul, have you driven an in-line 4? T100 or T120 are both soulful bikes, compared to the majority, maybe not the RE, but thats a bit of a skewed view in my view, but each to their own. Thanks for the review.
I love the Triumph platform and I will most likely choose the T120 over the Interceptor as at the end of the day its a much better bike.I will do some minor mods on the Bonneville and go from there. Yes the Interceptor has more soul to it.But at the end of the day the T120 is alot more refined and is a nicer bike to ride, For me i have spent alot of money modifying my Interceptor and it is my first bike so that's why i have such an issue choosing which bike to keep.If the Interceptor was standard the T120 would be the clear winner.I'm not to keen to turn any of these fine road bike's into a scrambler. Not for the type of off roading i want to get into.....i would just wreck them.
fun ride ..just going no where fast ❤
Yes - the best thing ever.
Thanks for the ride South Ivan. Nice when drivers wave you on eh bro. And thanks for leaving the road after The Shop. You actually had me looking for the Rock that used to have Bob's 1/One painted on with white paint as you climb the hill. Not sure whether it exists anymore lol. Cheers
Thanks mate, Yes it is always nice when slower people let you pass them, I can't say i have seen the painted rock.I will look out for it the next time I'm in the area. Cheers mate.
It's a very cool ride through the gorge , I've done it a few times on my T7 since it's reopened, the T7 is surprisingly nimble and lots of fun on the Twistys. Gotta watch out for road kill , the possums have had the gorge all to themselves for too long .😀
It's a fantastic road to ride.yes, there were a few dead possums on the road.
Nice One bro, thanks for the Ride Through. I got to see all the work that friends & whanau have spoken about since it's closure and reopening. Truly beautiful as ever. To me it looked like you were following Local vehicles. It can be a challenge following tourists unfamiliar with the road and you got to at least let the Interceptor do its thing. We all get caught out ever now and then but as you say the Interceptors are forgiving. Cheers bro, Henry
Thanks Henry, I've driven thought this pass a number of times in my ute as some times i go to Kaitaia for shopping. I got some fantastic video footage on the ride back home but the wind noise has some what ruined it.
As a Land Surveyor in the foothills of Virginia this was how my workdays were. It involved tree identification, hiking and fresh air. Also the occasional snake, bees, mosquitoes; all parts of the fun.
A land surveyor? What an awesome job. I love looking at interesting land features.
@ivananda865ccinterceptor I am retired but still work on some small jobs occasionally, it keeps me a young 74-year old.
also thinking of buying a new dual purpose, im leaning towards either a Suzuki Dr650 or DRZ400 the DR650 is around 165kg Mark Stock, and has double the horsepower of the himmy, there's reasons why they are so popular for world trips
Had a look on Trademe, Looks like a few good ones. I'm going to test ride both the 450 Himalayan and the 450 CF Moto first. I'll go from there.
That’s awesome man!
Cheers mate, I'm always looking to make better content.
@ Same. You’re doing well 👍
Your content is very good. You have plenty of confidence on camera. Something I have to work on.
@@ivananda865ccinterceptor Thanks for saying that mate, but I don't think so. Ha, ha! Still working on the confidence myself :) I enjoy making videos, so hopefully getting better at it. Same for you dude, have fun and you'll get there. Keep experimenting. Excited for you with the drone stuff, lots of awesome scenery up your way.
Pretty cool having the drone follow you like that :)
I was having a play around with it. It's kinda hit or miss with the follow me mode.
@ Keen to see more when you get to it
Whats the top speed you recorded on this bike
I haven't done a top speed run on this bike, I'll save that for a race track, which I'm trying to sort out. Unsure when that will be.
@ looking forward for the speed run.
ive crashed my drone into a swing bridge drowned it in the river, sat in rice for a week only killed a battery 2 years later its still solid, Not sure about the insta 360 tripod being mounted on the handlebars like that i find mine annoying sometimes and that's just with the mount.
I was trying new ways to record videos, The drone does open up new options for video making and will be very useful. I still have a whole lot to learn about making videos. Considering I started this TH-cam channel about a year ago with no knowledge of how to make videos. I think I've done ok?
@ the drone is good, what I learnt is you can get mixed up in riding easily and not stop for that primo shot, I think your learning has progressed from the start to now the quality is way better, it’s the same as me at the start I had no idea has been learning process all the way through
what else did you did to the bike, in addition to the big bore kit?
Check out this video th-cam.com/video/RCKmcHMel7U/w-d-xo.html
yo wtf was that 0-100 time,... speedometer was moving faster than the tachometer for a sec
Hello, the speed sensor at the time of recording was faulty. It has been fixed. Check this link out for a 0-100km th-cam.com/video/nag43mygaB8/w-d-xo.html
Does doing the big bore affect your wof?
Hello, The bike is still has the 3 year wof so i haven't taken it in for a wof yet. I can't see why it wouldn't get a one. I'll find out next year i guess.
@ivananda865ccinterceptor so will you have to get an lvv cert or something? ... If the wof doesn't pass through?
@kub1075 it would only be an issue if they knew it was modified and with the silencers installed on the exhaust the bike sounds pretty tame. If they pick some thing up I'll just say it only has a cam, exhaust and a tune. To be fair I'm not worried about it.
Cool cool..... Thank you
@@ivananda865ccinterceptor oo. One more question.... Hw does the insurance work for customization
Nice riding, reminds me a lot of West Coast riding, was the only time i wish I had a 14t sprocket 1 smaller then stock, for the more technical stuff have to ride the clutch or hit it fast 😂
I had a lot of fun,but the bike is far too heavy and gutless to really go into the technical stuff. My mate has got him self a dirt bike lol.
I do like the Bonneville but I can’t understand why they are fitting tubed tyres in 2024. Surely we need tubeless in this day and age?
Being tube or tubeless doesn't bother me as a puncher is still a pain in the @ss. So far I hadn't had one. Touch wood.
I love living and riding in the far north, we are blessed.
NZ over all is a fantastic place if you're into riding motorcycles. We are very lucky to live in this beautiful country.
Hey bro, can you take us over the Mangamuka's when it opens. I'd love to take my Interceptor through there. The guys I ride with here on the Sunshine Coast would also enjoy the road.
@ridingwithhg I think it's opening up before Christmas, I haven't ridden though there yet.
It is always nice to hear and see videos of your 863cc Interceptor. I like the gear position indicator, even after 76,000 kilometers on my 750 Interceptor I occasionally confuse 5th and 6th gear causing me to try to upshift from 6th 😊
Yes i like my gear indicator as well. Its very helpful.
That sounds SO much better than before. Even though my Bonneville, Thruxton and 750INT all have aftermarket exhaust systems I never ride them without the baffles IN. The allure of the GSXr-750 that I owned for 9 years is/was the intake drone of the four throttle bodies. I get that noise on my 2020 INT750 (743cc big-bore INT650) now and it is available on-demand; so much nicer than an obnoxious, open loud exhaust.
Yes i agree, It is nice having the rumble of the bike without the loud exhaust.
Royal enfield's 850 or 750 should be great
Yes they should be, I hope they keep the 650's going as there are a great first bike for people wanting a little more power than a smaller cc rated bike.
We'll see
There were birds singing BEFORE you turned the bike on. Afterward, they were silent. The wildlife thanks you for the new exhausts.
The birds were singing as they saw me going to start my bike, After starting the bike they were silent in protest. Jokes aside it is nice having a some what quiet bike again.
We’re these mods expensive?
Yes, Worth more than the bike all up.
True mate. I have biked, boated and flown small aircraft and the biking is the least worrisome of all 3.
I bet it is.
I have a Meteor 350 and am currently debating adding an INT650 or a T120. The T120 seems a little heavy, do you find it heavier than the INT?
Not really, The Interceptor on paper is around 30- 40 Kgs lighter which i have notice on the road, But I think that's it due to I have had done alot more riding on my Interceptor than dads T120. The T120 is a better bike in every way but does cost almost twice as much than the Int650. The Int650 is a great bike but if your like me you'll be wanting more power sooner or later. Buy the T120 as its a fantastic bike as is no mods needed. Just be careful as a T120 is a big step in power compered to the 350 and a 650. Take both bike for a test ride and go from there.
Excellent adventure ride , you done well on the himi . 👍
Definitely a work out for me, Himi did great but I started to notice the limitations of the bike.
can you get handlebar risers with that angled frame ?
You can, I'm going to leave it stock as it's really comfortable as is.
Just got one so watching a bit on utube. Happy with mine straight away, i was after slow and gravel roads. Just sold a mt09 and dr650, one tooooo fast, one tooo big. Plodding along suits me now.
I now love mine, I still do wish for a bit more power for open road riding.
Mine feels so sketchy at anything over 80!
Lol indeed they are. They are a bit light for 100kmh. I still think they are a fantastic little bike, still can have heaps of fun with them.
