Liquid metal should be applied to both the die and cold-plate. Also best that the cold-plate is copper as liquid metal will eat aluminum over time. I failed to notice that the Asus cold-plate IS NOT copper……..so liquid metal was removed after making of t...

i want to get this cpu how does it run
Bought the exact same card off eBay few years back that was artifacting to fix. Ended up being a Liquid Metal fail with the previous owner making a mess of the thing getting it all over the PCB. Took quite some time to clean all that junk off then inspecting every square inch for any residue but has been a rock solid GPU ever since. Curious why you bothered with Liquid Metal since these cards run so cool to begin with. Anyway good video 👍
Actually…….you are correct. They don’t really have any overheating issues. Originally, it was just a repaste……..but I had some liquid metal so I said what the heck………let’s give it a shot.
If anyone is still looking for the thickness of the thermal pads in this card. GTX 1070 ROG Strix 8gb VRAM 0.5MM Mosfet 1.0MM There are 3 thermal pads in this graphics card 2xVRAM 0.5mm 5cm x 1.5cm wide Yellow 0.5mm 5cm x 0.7mm wide Yellow 1xMosfet 1.0MM 12cm x 4cm wide Grey
That's my dream card! But I already have RX Vega 64. I hope can afford those thing and make duet with my RX Vega 64.
that spill near capacitors was close
@@club4ghz Yes…….I saw that when reviewing the video, but the nail polish coating protects them from shorting.
@@club4ghz Big fan of the 1080ti. Such a well made card…….especially the EVGA FTW3 with its switch for “normal” or “oc” mode. I use the 1080ti in some of my ultra-budget builds.
@@techluvin7691 I have EVGA 1080 Hybrid 120mm AIO that work 7 years with liquid metal. Only one time replaced. I always use tiny brush that comes with Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra, lets you apply the tiny amount that you don't even need nail polish. Also got two CPU's delidded + Liquid metal, no nail polish.
poso reaproveits os thermopad originais ? e qual pasta térmica e boa para placa de video
No editing of video. It can take over an hour to clone and swap an Nvme, especially if you are adding a heatsink. It is much easier on an open bench than on a board already in a case.
Whoops…….3060ti. Sorry. I said 4060ti. That’s in another PC. The 3dmark you are seeing is a 4060…….not a 3060. The 4060 is not a very good card………considering it’s a 40 series.
what temps u getting
Low to mid 80’s under 100% load. High 60’s to mid 70’s when gaming.
I have this case and for therr was a RGB sw which seemed to be for the front panel mobo but im not sure

Question, If I put my gpu vertically in this pc case can I still put fans at the bottom?
The case does support a vertically mounted GPU…….but I do not think you could have bottom fans. Just not enough room for both and no way to raise the GPU because it wouldn’t fit the vertical slot anymore. Personally, I am not a fan of vertical mounts because of their close proximity to the glass. You can experience heat problems in this configuration.
Why you bought an i7 12th gen in 2024? The i5 13th gen has same performance at a lower price point. But nice build
Actually……I got this 12700 for just over $200.
That ASUS board looks like an old Tyan or Supermicro board. I'll take a good Noctua air cooler over an AIO any day of the week.
There are so many very good air coolers now that rival Noctua. Thermalright has some excellent tower coolers. My only issue is that they take up so much of the case.
Atleast i know im not the only one who turned my basement into my home lab. 😆💚
Yeah……….a little bit “out of control” now 🥴

How is it holding up? I am hopefully gonna order one friday cause I have an i7 990x I am gonna throw in it and see all that I can acomplish.
Hey……you are very welcome.
What a beast of a chip. I actually never heard of this cpu until now. I can't believe there were high performance six cores in 2010. Not bad for 32nm process. Great video!
Hello, first of all thanks for the video, I have one question though, Size of the thermal pads? I have a Firepro V5800 and it is very loud so I am going to deep clean it and replace thermal paste and the thermal pads. Thanks in advance.
You will have to measure your thermal pads and make sure you use the correct thickness.
@@techluvin7691 Thank you for the quick response!
@@techluvin7691which thickness did you use on this? Looks like I will be doing this exact teardown
@@JordanandMcKay I cannot remember. You can use a digital caliper to measure thickness of original pads or through trial and error. You must check that they are the correct thickness before screwing card back together utilizing a press fit. If pads are too thick, gpu will have poor to no thermal paste contact. If pads are too thin they will have no contact marks. It’s best to order a few different thickness of pads just to be sure. If you don’t have good contact, temps will rise rapidly under high gpu load. Use MSI Afterburner for GPU temperatures (big edition under settings). Use quality thermal paste. Not cheap garbage.
Drop 1.025 on the cpu pll with a bit more vcore. Youll hit 5.1
Replay video top nothing see your overlock ram .
Best oc I can do on G skill trident rgb 3000 mhz cl14?
Overclocking and/or tuning ram is a painstakingly long process with plenty of stress testing. It’s tough even to tune at 1.35v so you pretty much have to increase your voltage to at least 1.4v. It’s perfectly safe to do this. There are a couple of other voltages the will help with stability on both Intel and AMD. Some excellent information resides on a Github server that is more of a guide.
Dude, why is this 47 minutes long lol!!! Wow.
Because if you want to do a proper job free from errors it takes time. If you can complete the task faster……….good for you. Have a nice day 🙂
@@techluvin7691 Not saying it doesn't take an hour, but every other video on this subject is around 10-15 minutes at most. 99% of people are not going to watch 50 minutes dude. This is why people edit.
@@oldowl4290 Unlike other “monetized” channels, I am realistic about the time it takes to repaste a graphics card. I don’t edit my videos.
Hey, what were your temps and fps in game before and after?
Sorry………not a gamer………but in stress testing temps were approximately 6 to 8 degrees C cooler. Over time, thermals paste dries out. Cleaning the old paste and applying a quality compound brings performance back to any card as heat is the biggest issue affecting a graphics cards level of performance.
thermal pad 1.5mm ?
🤔 ………. I believe so, but don’t quote me on that. I always do a hand pressure fit to ensure the pads are being compressed and the thermal paste smudged up on the GPU before reassembly.
Brother..thermal pad size???? Vram...? Gddr5-... ? Please tell me?
Gonna say .5 mm I believe. The 1070 is an 8gb card of gddr5. If you change the thermal pads you want to try and match the original size. If you put on too thick a thermal pad, your cold plate may not contact the gpu chip and overheating of the core will occur.
Not going in the Corsair 7000x……..sold it. Going in an Asus GT310 Case. Running a 3060 now also.
Hey, why didn't you replace thermal pads on vram? I see that vram chips are covered by a small heatsink but aren't there supposed to be thermal pads in between?
There are thermal pads present. I did not replace them because I did not have the correct thickness of pad.
@@techluvin7691 What are correct thickness of pad o V-ram?
@@mirkovicivan For this card? ROG STRIX 1070 So respectively 0.5mm vram there are 2 lengths 5cm 1.5cm and the second is 5cm but the width 0.7mm for the mosfet is already 1.0mm 12cm with a width of 2cm one 12cm is gray and these 2 vram are yellow.
@@wiedzmin3050 Yes, ASUS ROG STRIX 1070. Thanks. Keep up the good work!
@@mirkovicivan No problem, I replaced mine and I will say it is worth it, over 10 degrees less, but almost 70 degrees for this card is already a lack of paste on the core. And supposedly many people write that at 80 it is only worth replacing, meanwhile the paste on the graphics card core was almost burning the paste...
I had sapphire RX580 nitro plus model.. but i dont know about the thickness thermal pads on vram.. any idea?
0,75mm pads for vram and vrm. Cant rly find such thickness pads anywhere, but you should buy 1mm of very soft pads, hardness should be Shpre OO 60 and lower (lower the number, softer the pad). Basically softer the pad, the more it can compress to your needed size (Shore 00 55 can compress about 0,3mm). If the pad is too thick, your gpu chip wont make good contact to heatsink and it will run rly hot, if vram pads will be to thin, then they wont make the contact and your memmory will be overheating. So yeah :D im myself now runing soft 1mm pads, and temps are great, core 1400mhz at 60 C with 40 % fan speed in game, vram donno cuz card dont have dedicated mem temp sensor, but no mem errors (that lets me believe its not heating).
Use 0.5mm pad and add a bit of thermal paste (use cheap ones such as gd900) on top of the pad to add some thickness and to make contact to the heatsink.
You can use thermal putty / copper shim / thermal putty on the ram and utilize kapton tape over components for protection. You will get better thermals then just thermal pads.
Is that 1mm thermal pad you put over the mosfet?
I believe so. Thicker then what was on there, but it worked out fine after testing.
i have the same cpu and ram but when i try to enable xmp it only goes up to 2666 and i was told to its because of my motherboard so i was recommended the MSI Z590 PRO WiFi ProSeries Motherboard so my ram can be at it's rated speed which is 3200MHz is that true ?
Sorry for the delay in responding. Yes, it may be true that your motherboard only support up to 2666 mhz, but without knowing what motherboard you have, it’s a guess on my part. Provide more information on your present setup.
Keep up the good work man

I should have zoomed in on the screen in bios, but you get the jist of overclocking ram. I get a little better with each video……just like I eat just a little “pussnboots” every day in preparation for retirement.
Ok…….comments are enabled. Nice 🙂. Leave your recommendation on which CPU you would go with……10600k or 11600k? Already built an i9-10900k on a z590 mb. Awesome rig…………but still lagged behind the 5900x from AMD.
