I've been throwing down with this concept for two weeks on Live. So glad you made this video! Your content gets more into the strategy and lines of play than other channels. That's why I love you channel the most.
In game 1, you could have went for ultra ball to get Charizard and rare candy it to knock out the Daruladon in the active, but instead you evolved into Charmeleon, allowing him to evolve next turn. Should have gotten your head start on prizes sir.
30:00 would you have considered Hero’s Cape on the Charmander to save it until you can pull Charmeleon/Candy from the prizes? Or do you always put it on Pult in this matchup?
this looks so clunky but I'm gonna playtest it.
A bit clunky but surprisingly consistent. Lemme know what you think after some games
Game 2 you also had game by diving and taking the fan rotom on the bench.
🤣🤣🤣 I noticed that while editing and knew it would come up. I was too focused on the 200 main damage to look at the bench.
@@nursejared bro sorry to interrupt buy what program do u use for editing? i am new building my youtube channel y think premiere pro is a good start?
@ A win's a win! That's the great part is finding different paths to the same end. Appreciate the content, keep up the great work!
Davinci Resolve by Black magic. It's the best free editing software you'll ever find.
I'm new to the game, but just wanted to clarify. You can activate buddy buddy poffin and just not grab anything? Is this the same for other cards like it?
Yes as long as there is bench space for a new pokemon to go. Welcome to the game! :)
Been running this deck, but I replaced 1 Lumineon with 1 Rotom, and Hero’s Cape with Prime Catcher (people never see it coming). Having a lot of fun.
Love the changes, I went back and forth on the Rotom. I think it's a good inclusion, especially if you are going first
@ Rotom has been nice if you’re forced to go first or if your opponent is playing a deck that isn’t held back by Budew!
How do you feel about a switch in there? Have had the Zam trapped a couple of times…
100% could be a good include. Especially as we keep an eye on how popular pidgeot control is getting going into some of these bigger tournaments.
Maybe switch out the Vessel for it? Since we already have Crispin. Gonna play this at my local challenge next weekend, can’t wait!
Best of luck! Come back and let me know how it goes 💪
Thanks! Will do! Discovered your channel recently and love the content - fun decks and good gameplay without taking it too seriously 😁
Checked into my first online tournament with this deck yesterday (except no Crispin) because the Charizard and energy search feels like it’s it .. butttt getting Zard set up at times was a struggle and getting mirror budews too was a bit rough.. I’m gonna try Crispin and thinking there’s also so many ways to go with stadiums in this one too. I’m thinking Pokémon League headquarters can be a nice addition to delay the basics like Miraidon decks, mirror budews, and whatever other basics that maybe threat the Zard set up. Then again I’m probably gonna try another online tourny to figure out my similar list too. In conclusion it’s early but this deck has a solution to Zards depression this format. Great vid man and keep up the great work best of luck in your matches.
I had your exact situation in a few games struggling to get zard online which led to me including Crispy. I also agree that this deck is a good solution to some of the issues *cough* budew *cough* that trad zard builds are hitting in prismatic. Keep up the testing and let me know what you figure out!
2 vessels and 1 Crispin
Those loaks in the first game were sooo lucky lol
That's just the heart of the cards baby!
Yessssss! This is the exact deck I am building now. 🔥
Heck yea fitness friend!! 💪
@ which do you prefer? The zard/dragonpult or the dusk/dragonpult?
hmm that's a tough one. Right now I think that zard/pult feels better fighting dusk/pult than doing a mirror dusk/pult vs dusk/pult so personally I have more fun playing zard/pult.
@ great minds think alike! Thank you
do you feel this is better than regular dragapult? seems more to give you more options.
They are different enough that it's hard to do a direct comparison. I think having Zard as a strong late game attacker can help take some important knockouts that may be unreachable to dragapult
dang we got the same list. I might try 2 lance though sometime
Let me know how it goes!
Hey, new-ish player here. Ive been playing this deck recently on TCG Live and on the actual tcg and for some reason I felt like Palkia was slowing me down more often than helping me. I tried playing the deck without it and I felt much more consistent without it. Is there a general order as to how I should set up? Also, another random question but, does this deck happen to struggle against Gardevoir EX? I feel like I have a very hard time in that matchup 😅
Playing without Palkia is also strong and if that's your preferred way then feel free to stick to it! Palkia is there to strengthen some of our weaker match ups, like Gardi. Being able to set up a radiant Greninja to snipe out 2 kirlia/ralts is what gives us an edge. If it's straight forward match up though like raging bolt where you won't need palkia or Greninja to attack then you can just not bench palkia and still be able to do well.
Ohh that's very interesting. I'm gonna try giving Palkia a whirl again with the idea of having greninja as an attacker now, for some reason I had never thought about it. Thanks for your response!
I started playing PTCG Live a little over a month ago, and I feel that I’ve hit a wall. I mainly play Charizard ex, and I feel really confident in my sequencing ability. I can turn almost any starting hand into a set up board. My issue is that my opponents are better at predicting my next move than I am at predicting theirs. What tips to you have for newer players to learn how to counter other decks in the meta?
So you've passed the first hurdle which is fantastic. Well done getting to this point! You're at the next hurdle now which is why you are feeling stuck. This one takes a bit more time to get over since it involves a potentially infinite amount of decks and not just your own. The boring answer is it just takes time, you'll have to play against these match ups a lot more before you can predict their moves. Charizard is a very popular deck which is why so many people are able to predict it. To speed up this process, as you are able, buy cards on Live to begin playing the decks you are struggling against. Or print proxy cards and play these decks irl against locals. If you run a deck you'll be able to see its weaknesses pretty quickly.
Appreciate the advice. I’ll keep at it and start experimenting with other decks so I can learn what plays I can make with Charizard to keep the opponent from getting ahead. Really enjoy your videos!
Oh and I subscribed and last question I’m new does buying real Pokémon codes from booster packs give you credits to craft cards?
Yes and no, you'll start getting credits for every duplicate card after owning 4 copies. So you'll need to get code cards from the same set to increase your chances of getting duplicates, however, this is not a financially feasible way to gain credits.
Here is a video I did with more info on the topic th-cam.com/video/wG_cNsADODY/w-d-xo.html
I’m free to play player and I keep losing first time playing, will I progress in the rewards and levels even if I lose but keep playing?
Yes 100% rewards are given based on how many prize cards you take in a match
Thoughts on spiritomb to beat Lugia? It's a pretty bad matchup How important do you consider iono/Irida and could they be potential cuts
I wish tomb stopped all V abilities and not just basic V. As is, it would just block lumi and the deer so it isn't too devastating to Lugia. I would personally cut iono before Irida. What are you thinking of instead?
Blocking lumi seems pretty good into Lugia since they depend on it quite a bit.. Might also help into pult/zard but blocks our own lumi too Thinking of 4th vessel or cologne to ensure moonlight shuriken
Or even sinnoh
I have run cologne in the deck and it does feel strong into certain match ups. Can help if you run into a wall/stall as well.
Been using this deck for a little while now and seen it built a few different ways. This is a really comprehensive list of all the tricks you can do. Ive had to motivate water energy to ninja in a stall match before, use palkia in the mirror, and using jet energy to then retreat is a cool way to boost damage. Great job man! I gotta try runnin secret box, just switched to blender after using legacy energy. Just curious have you tried running thorton? Its a cheeky way to get squak/lumineon out of play and bring back a charcadet, possibly even evolve to ceruledge in the same turn :)
Definitely give secret box a go! Glad to meet a fellow ceruledge enjoyer. :) reading your comment about Thorton had me say "that's so dang smart!" Out loud. Such a tight 60 though what do you cut for it? Assuming you're running a similar list. Thanks for sharing, I'm gonna experiment with that one for sure.
37:50 I think the best play would've been to just set up then counter catcher the Radiant Alakazam with 2 retreat cost and then roxanne/iono every turm until you KO the pult-lumineon or duskull-pult-whoever
That's a good call out, especially with their rescue board on the dreepy. I can't remember if they had used Turo already though, but they would have needed to get a lucky draw into it. Thanks for the insight! 😊
is heros cape necesary? can remplace for prime catcher or unfair stamp?
It's good into certain matchups like gardi or dragapult but feel free to play around with it. I think another ACE could do just as well if not better here.
@@nursejared thank you very much for ur answer and decklist
Thank you so much i needed this video , i was so overwhelmed and couldn't get the information you mentioned from other videos . Am new to pokemon and will be checking more of your helpful content . Hope you have a great day
PTCGL is a very confusing place to be as a beginner. I am so glad I was able to cut through some of that and get you to enjoying the game <3
I appreciate you showing your losses. Too many videos only show wins and it's refreshing to see that even good players lose every now and again.
Gotta be honest in order to learn so I'm not gonna be pullin any sneakies with y'all <3
I would really advise people to play Secret Box over Blender, since we are already not running that many supporters it is basically another supporter so we do not brick our first turn as much :).
I would tend to agree with you here. Secret box is favored over blender, but I do still think it is a fairly close choice. Blender has saved me end game quite a few times by letting me thin out everything but a few key cards like boss or briar allowing for a clutch play.
How u building/playing this variant vs budew decks?
Guy at a local league challenge last night was running this exact list. Anytime someone put a budew up he just bonked it with fan Rotom. Basically trading a turn of no items for a prize card. Can throw Charmeleon, pidgeotto and a Jacq in and slow roll while taking prizes with Rotom as well.
Love this deck. Great video!
Thank you!! ❤️
No budew?
You can add one if you really want. I feel it's only use case would be if you end up going second it could be your attacker for that turn. Otherwise, you would really rather focus on hitting with rad gren or ceruledge asap.
Love this deck and love the videos! Thanks for making new decks and TCG Live more approachable :)
Thank you so much ❤️ glad you are finding some useful info here :)
22:30 most blatant bug I've seen so far...
Live really out Live'd itself with that one
That’s one of the most bizarre bugs I’ve seen so far.
Cool! Thank you so much! I've tried a Ceruledge deck for a while, but I've always ended up screwing it up. Either bad discards full of supporters or just plain bad luck! I realized now how to actually play it!
I'm glad you were able to take away some helpful info from this. Sometimes there are games where you hit some pretty bad luck but night stretchers and pal pad are there to catch us. Keep running it! Super fun deck :)
Hey tanks for the video ! U pref go first or second with this deck ?
Hey good question! Look to go second, that way you have more options to Arven, TM evo, or attack with budew depending on board state and match up
Great video. Incredibly helpful!
Thank you very much ❤️
15:27 They're playing around briar as if they go to 2 prizes you win just off counter catcher briar combo alone on fezandipiti or knockout their zard with your zard dusk combo with briar. So they were trying to counter your briar with their own. It is a risky play as that puts them in a awkward situation of needing to also setup a duskull etc.
That's a good point 👍 seems they were stuck in a pretty rough spot regardless. Thanks for the insight!
What are those short cuts in the deck list ? ,,3 Charmander MEW 4“
Hi hi, those are the set and card number in the set. So for your example MEW is the abbreviation for the 151 set and this Charmander is the 4th card in the set.
@ alright thanks! Btw nice video it helped me a lot 😁💪🏽
@nursejared alright thanks! Btw nice video it helped me a lot 😁💪🏽
Do you think Artizone and Cape are worth? I feel like Stamp would be better
I'm going to play around with the ACE spec. I agree there may be better fits. I will say, I played a bunch of in person against my buddy who runs Gardi and cape feels real good in that match up. Artazon could also be swapped for like vacuum, cologne, sinnoh etc. depending on popular match ups.
Found a video of people playing at a shop and one person was playing this deck. I made my personal tweaks and it seems pretty good
What did you end up putting in?
@ I reverted the deck back to the deck list but replaced Artazon with Temple of Sinoh. Im also seeing if I like Stamp better then Cape
Ooo I like Sinnoh that could be pretty huge in some match ups
Loving this! Been playing ZardPult on live past two days. Any thoughts on a Roxanne instead of 3rd Iono?
Love it! I was playing at my local league tonight and I had the same thought <3
THANK YOU!!! Can’t wait to try this out
Hey swole bro! It has been the most fun I've had playing zard in prismatic!
I was subscriber # 500! Thanks for the great content. I just started playing Pokemon after years of not liking where MTG was going.
Woohoo!!! I ran and showed my partner when it hit 500! Thank you so much for the support!! Pokemon has picked up a few MTG fans as of late. You are coming in at a great time, the game is booming and very fun to play.
Hello my friends! Thanks for the content! Do you think this deck will work during in person games?
Yes it should go quite well, just keep in mind Prismatic Format is not legal in tournaments until this Friday the 31st. I'm planning on playing it in a local tournament on Saturday.
Do you have any list that can bring gameplay after the rotation? Like any other than Charizard EX?
Do you have any list that can bring gameplay after the rotation? Like any other than Charizard EX?
How do you mean? Lots of decks will still be viable after rotation. Is there a specific one you are looking for?
@@nursejared I don't know, something good and budget preferably lol
Hmm that's tough since Charizard is the best budget deck currently. Something like ancient box fits the bill though. It's cheap because it's mostly single prizers and almost all the cards will survive rotation. List here limitlesstcg.com/decks/list/15718
No credit to Oscar Madsen for creating this deck 🤔
If Oscar popularized this list I would love to give credit where it is due. I'm looking on TH-cam and limitless to check your info but not finding much. Do you have a source?
This is Oscar madsens same 60 on his metafy lol
I'm too poor to access that 🤣
OMG we are literally NSYNC. Im playing Zard Pult too lololol
Great minds! It's easily the most fun I've had with a deck so far in Prismatic

Not as of right now, but if that changes I will keep you posted.
I was just thinking of the 2 decks coming together last night. so cool you combined them.
Couple of intelligent gents here! It's so great having the drakloaks for draw support.
awesome
thank you!
Thank you so much for these videos! Just started getting into PTCG, collected cards as a kid but never played. Started with Zard because I saw it was a good meta deck and also as a 90's kid Charizard is just so nostalgic lol. Your videos have been an immense help!!!!
I'm so glad to hear that! Thanks for letting me know! Welcome to the TCG community, this game is an absolute blast.
@nursejared Oh yeah, I'm having a great time. Went to my first tournament a couple days ago, got destroyed but had a blast
Same as you here bro! Enjoy! 😁
Thanks for the tips! Interestingly, the 70hp Hoothoot immediately saved me in a game against Froslass which would have eaten the 50hp alive due to its ability.
Love it! 50hp and a useless ability puts that hoothoot in a pretty deep pile of garbanzo beans.
Let's skip the "non-binary pals" part in the future.
Appreciate you being here, but if your feelings were upset by that intro this probably isn't the right fit for you.
In the first example did it end up mattering that you kept the 1 energy? You could've just used Infernal Reign on the Duskull and retreated?
It can end up saving you from needing a super rod to set up a second zard later on
