I’m reading the seven pillars of wisdom by TE Laurence and he mentions this song was played for them by captured Turkish band. Adds a layer of depth while reading this passage.
@drumseur Im not sure though, and you should not forget that there are alot of good brassbands. For example the netherlands has a few good brassbands on its own, and lets say they really are not even worse than this one. Just look everything up for example a nice indication: eurofestival2011 (dot) ch/rang_2011.pdf
Amongst other favourable aspects of this performance I'd like to mention the euph. during the final chord..... I can listen to that hundreds of times and still get goosebumps all over.. Stef really sings out, great.
usually the french horns would play a flugel horn in a brass band, a lot of brass bands accept them. Rarely they would accept a mellophone, like one the brass bands i'm in
Fantastic stuff. Reminded me of the pieces William Gregson used to compose in the 1970s for international competition, like 'Voices of Youth.' Great stuff. Who's the composer??
i wasnt sure if this was a contest or a performance so i had wondered why it wasnt the typical band. it does sound great dnt get me wrong!! i was just being curious ;-)

Fantastic band, musicianship and of course direction, Bravo!
Wow! How have I gone 13 years without hearing this?
Magnificent performance of my favorite hymn. Just love it.
The cornet sound at 1:26 is simply ridiculous...
Possible the best video performance for BrassBand on YT , good recording .

dat was echt super!! groeten uit Nederland
They have the best brass sound in the world!
Amazing how the cornets synchronized their vibratos.
I was just going to say that it looks like a Bach. Ha so I guess my writing this is pointless now.
oh my god!!! is so nice!!great!!
I am the basstrombone. Back then i played on a Bach 50G
who is the bass trombonist and what make is his trombone? does anyone know?
Speelt deze band ook niet heel veel Bernaertsmusic? Geweldig gespeeld trouwens:)
Nice arrangement-- very creative with good dynamic contrasts.
