Woah! I just graduated medical school, and am looking to work in australia in the future... My country have a 12 months gap between graduating and working as a rotator resident... I will take the AMC 1 exam now before the rotation, but I am not sure whether I will complete AMC part 2 after rotation or after completing postgraduate study... Though I searched the specialist pathway and didn't see anything regarding this matter -working as a specialist while having AMC part 1 only- I was wondering if taking the exam now is a good idea while I am not burdened with work.

Its called PESCI . you need 5 year plus experience .For an overseas doctor from Bangladesh looking to work in Australia, here’s a concise step-by-step guide to navigate the Pre-Employment Structured Clinical Interview (PESCI): 1. **Check Eligibility:** - Ensure you meet the requirements for limited or provisional registration as specified by the Medical Board of Australia (MBA). 2. **Primary Source Verification:** - Apply to the Australian Medical Council (AMC) for primary source verification of your medical degree and any specialist qualifications. 3. **Find a Position:** - Secure a suitable job offer in an Australian healthcare facility, as the PESCI is tailored to the specific role you will be undertaking. 4. **Prepare Documentation:** - Compile necessary documents, including your CV, AMC MCQ examination results, and a detailed position description. Sign up for an RACGP or ACRRM ID if required. 5. **Apply for PESCI:** - Submit your PESCI application online through the RACGP or ACRRM portals, along with all required documents and the application fee. 6. **Prepare for the Interview:** - Engage in mock interviews, review clinical scenarios, and study Australian medical guidelines and cultural competence. 7. **Attend PESCI:** - Participate in the interview, which includes assessments of clinical skills, communication, cultural competence, and ethical understanding. This interview is typically conducted online via video conferencing. 8. **Receive Feedback and Outcome:** - After the interview, you will receive feedback on your performance and be informed of the outcome, which determines if you can proceed with your registration. Following these steps ensures that you are well-prepared for the PESCI and increases your chances of securing registration to practice in Australia【8†source】【9†source】【10†source】.

To prepare for the New Zealand Registration Examination (NZREX) and understand the prospects of being a doctor in New Zealand, follow these steps and consider the insights provided below: ### Preparation for NZREX 1. **Official Resources:** - Visit the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) website for official guidelines on NZREX preparation, including eligibility criteria, application processes, and examination content. The MCNZ website also provides a candidate handbook that outlines the format and content of the exam. 2. **Study Materials:** - Utilize resources similar to those for the PLAB exams, as the NZREX focuses on clinical knowledge and skills. Recommended materials include: - **Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine** - **Clinical Skills for OSCEs by Neel Burton** - **Medical Council of New Zealand - Examination content outline** 3. **Practice and Mock Exams:** - Engage in practical training sessions, mock exams, and study groups. Websites like Osmosis and Pastest offer resources and practice questions tailored to clinical exams. - Seek out courses and workshops specifically designed for NZREX preparation. Some coaching centers and online platforms offer tailored preparation courses. 4. **Join Forums and Groups:** - Join online forums and social media groups where you can connect with other NZREX aspirants and those who have successfully passed the exam. These communities can provide insights, tips, and support. ### Future Prospects of Being a Doctor in New Zealand 1. **Job Opportunities:** - New Zealand has a high demand for medical professionals, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Specialties such as General Practice, Psychiatry, and Emergency Medicine are in particularly high demand. 2. **Work-Life Balance:** - New Zealand is known for its excellent work-life balance, providing a supportive work environment with opportunities for professional development and a high quality of life. 3. **Registration and Residency:** - After passing NZREX, you need to complete a period of supervised practice (internship) before obtaining general registration with MCNZ. This typically involves working in a hospital setting under the supervision of a senior doctor. 4. **Salaries and Benefits:** - Salaries for doctors in New Zealand are competitive, with additional benefits such as relocation assistance, housing allowances, and professional development opportunities. 5. **Cultural Adaptation:** - New Zealand's healthcare system emphasizes cultural competence, particularly with respect to the Māori and Pacific Islander populations. Familiarize yourself with the cultural aspects and health issues prevalent in these communities. ### Useful Resources - [Medical Council of New Zealand - NZREX](www.mcnz.org.nz/get-registered/registration-exam-nzrex/) - [NZREX Candidate Handbook](www.mcnz.org.nz/assets/Uploads/Exams/NZREX-Candidate-Handbook.pdf) - [Osmosis - Medical Resources](www.osmosis.org/) - [Pastest - Exam Preparation](www.pastest.com/) ### Insights from Current Practitioners - Engage with forums like the New Zealand Doctor Network on Facebook or Reddit to get firsthand experiences and advice from current practitioners. - Explore the [New Zealand Doctor](www.nzdoctor.co.nz/) website for articles and updates on the medical profession in New Zealand. By following these steps and utilizing the provided resources, you can effectively prepare for NZREX and gain a comprehensive understanding of the medical profession in New Zealand.
