This is one of my favourite songs by Queen and I finally feel I can play good enough to cover this song. It's of course far from perfect but I'm quite happy about it.

Drums Play Along - Disco

This disco track has pretty simple drum parts but it's a challenge for me because the drum beat emphasizes the off-beat open hi-hat or ride bell which I'm not very used to. As I practiced, I started to actually enjoy it quite a bit despite disco not being close to my favorite genre. #drums #drumplayalong #disco

This is the 3rd of the 4 play-alongs from Drumeo Method level 3. The country train beat is far from my favorite drum beat but it turns out to be pretty fun to play.

Here's the first shuffle play-along I practiced and recorded. It's a ton of fun but my timing could definitely be tighter. I seem to rush the last triplet partial a lot, especially on the ride cymbal. I came up with the fill leading to choruses where it starts with a 6 stroke roll followed by toms and snares that give the same shuffle vibe. I thought it works but what do you think?

This is the first time I recorded a full drums play-along of a track where I "came up with" my own drum parts and it's a ton of fun. I covered this song about 1.5 years ago (th-cam.com/video/ZngmQnXhL-o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6Rj34CIzzH5q2MdN) which I'm not very happy about. I was using Roland TD17 module sounds and it was mixed on the module and doesn't sound good at all. I decided to record it again on my computer using EZ Drummer 3. I think my playing has definitely improved a bit since then as well so hopefully you'll like it!

This song took me a while to learn and practice. The drum parts aren't technically difficult but it's a long song and there are a lot of little details that I find hard to remember all. I've been playing for about 2 years but I wish I had more time to spend on drums haha. Keep practicing and playing along to this song and you'll get there in no time. I wasn't doing much more than the basic grooves and fills they taught.

Thanks. It's a cheap snare I got from Taobao (world.taobao.com/item/695051438357.htm?spm=a21wu.11804641-tw.shop-content.26.6e0a6de1HSiV25 site is in Chinese) but I wouldn't recommend it. Triggering is not great. I ended up changing it back to the PDX12 pad. Think I'll just save up for a big upgrade to a better kit.

Yeah,,, except you are playing 1/8th notes,,,,, not 16th’s. You better go study more……
There are a couple of 16th note kick and I was filling it with 16th ghost notes on the snare, or...does that not count? Learned it from a Drumeo lesson except I played the straight version not swung 16th notes. But you are right I need to practice and learn more (doing it every day).

Nice! What's your recording setup for this? I assume both iPad and drums going into an interface and you are able to hear via headphone out? Thanks!
Hi Kirk, for this video it was actually quite simple. I plugged my drums to my laptop for EZ Drummer 3 and connected the iPad to my drums via bluetooth. The video was recorded on my phone with an iRig 2 connected to my drums master out. For monitoring I just connect my headphone to the drum module and can hear both the drum sounds and the grooveclix app's sounds. For drum covers I'd record my drums with Reaper + EZ Drummer 3 plugs and combine it with the video in iMovie.

Probably best to ask Lemon on their Alibaba page but if TD07 supports VH10 or VH11 I imagine it should also work? In my TD17 module, I set my hihat pad to TD11 (edit: I meant VH11) and it works fine.
