Underrated Bangers
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 7 ก.ค. 2015
Welcome! I upload obscure tunes that I feel are great, but barely anyone has heard them. Feel free to request/suggest things I could upload, preferably as long as it's not already on TH-cam.
Also check out the channel Tech Product Bangers, which is focused on music from tech products (ringtones, synth demos, clipart music, etc). I previously uploaded this stuff here but decided to split it off into its own channel. Likewise, I also have a channel called Obscure Jewels that uploads individual tracks from full albums in large quantities, as well as other things that don't fit here.
(tracks from video games/other media will be uploaded under the game name; tracks not from video games will be uploaded under the artist name)

Masaharu Iwata - Main Menu [Eyeshield 21: DevilBats DevilDays music]
Title: Main Menu
Game: Eyeshield 21: DevilBats DevilDays
Composer: Masaharu Iwata [Basiscape]
Manipulator: Manabu Namiki [Basiscape]
Year: 2006
Commentary: A cute synthpop tune that reminds me of YMO. Love the part with the panned church bells. Iwata's compositional style tends to be more simplistic than other Basiscape composers, but at least he's still written plenty of enjoyable tracks.

Best of VGM Composers #5: Manabu Namiki (Santaruru) [1994-2020]
มุมมอง 687วันที่ผ่านมา
This is a compilation of my favorite tracks by Manabu Namiki (aka Santaruru), a composer best known for his work on shmup games. He worked at Allumer from 1990 to 1991, NMK from 1992 to 1995, Raizing from 1995 to 2000, then went freelance and worked as a contractor for Basiscape (which he also co-founded) between 2002 and 2011, then worked at M2 from 2012 to 2018. As a result, he was highly pro...
Naoshi Mizuta - Arcade Boy

Title: Arcade Boy [アーケード・ボーイ] Source: Naoshi Mizuta's SoundCloud (track link: soundcloud.com/naoshi_mizuta/cqcuxnjew9zx) Composer: Naoshi Mizuta Year: 2016 Commentary: A lovely upbeat 8-bit styled tune using what sounds like Namco wavetables. It reminds me of Manabu Namiki's early shmup music as well as Mizuta's work on Mega Man & Bass.
Manabu Namiki - Aim high shoot all [Akazukin Cha-Cha no Chotto Dake Yo: Otameshi Plus Alpha music]
มุมมอง 50714 วันที่ผ่านมา
Title: Aim high shoot all Game: Akazukin Cha-Cha no Chotto Dake Yo: Otameshi Plus Alpha Composer: Yoshihito Shimada Arranger: Manabu Namiki (as Santaruru) Year: 1996 Commentary: From a doujin Sharp X68000 shmup game. Although not composed by Namiki, he seems to have heavily arranged it; while there are points where the composition feels un-Namiki, the track largely feels very close to his Battl...

มุมมอง 22914 วันที่ผ่านมา
Title: Action Mode (Kai) Game: BLOOD : Souyoku no Battle Rondo Presumed composer: Ayako Saso [SuperSweep] Year: 2006 Commentary: A dramatic, yet subdued rock piece that gradually builds up. Feels like hitting a point where something is the final straw and pushes you over the edge. Definitely sounds much more like Saso than Wataru Ishibashi.

Title: Boss Game: Onmyou Taisenki: Hasha no In Presumed composer: Yousuke Yasui [SuperSweep] Year: 2005 Commentary: An arrange of the boss theme from the previous Onmyou Taisenki game, Byakko Enbu. It's faster and has a different rhythm.

Title: City: Day Game: IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix Presumed composer: Kimihiro Abe [Basiscape] Year: 2006 Commentary: A fun techno track. Judging by the sound design and unusual chords, I'd guess Abe did this one. His electronic style reminds me a lot of Manabu Namiki at times.

Fun fact: you can search “bones” and you’ll find this song
bro plz make an extended version of the first 30 seconds of this remix 🙏
That "what's in front of me" uses the LICK
I KNEW it sounded familiar! That it sounds so much like Second Militia HAS to have been intentional. Love it!
Hard to say. Hosoe actually commented on it and found the similarities fascinating: x.com/shinji_hosoe/status/1495642450945507328 My guess is that it was a subconscious inspiration when he wrote it, especially with him often writing YMO-inspired synthpop music.
@@underratedbangers6053 Based on that, I'm sure you're right about it being subconscious inspiration.
This is classic! so much warm and fuzzy emotions 😊 Ah the memories
Turn On My Dingaling brought me here
0:14 So fire
This anime looks bad. At least the music doesn't suck.
Doesn't look too bad
They had Production I.G. on it in 2005, it's pretty solid for a show with a TV budget.
this sounds like this could be on ridge racer v
Absolutely no reason to have the sexy lady. Luv it
my goodness
This perfectly could be in Splatoon Octo Expansion and no one wolud notice
A fishing game doesn't have to go that hard
They always do
fucking excellent I haven't heard much 2hu music, but I'm coming back to my Ishibashi playlist and my expectations keep being exceeded
@@seymourflux747 to be honest, I'm not quite sure anymore that this is Ishibashi. While there are similarities to his style in the "cone" stuff (especially the choices of leads and dreamy trance feels), I asked bermei.inazawa and he thinks these tracks sounded too amateurish to be him. If it's not Ishibashi, then I have no idea who.. possibly one of Shoichiro Sakamoto's random doujin friends.
Kaneda is so creative. Imagine how cool it would've been if he were an underground electronic artist making full albums of this stuff.
i''d buy in a heart beat.
A banger as always.
xenosaga 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝓼 👅
what is really sad is that i took forever trying to find this
all of these slap, so funky and upbeat
manabu namiki! it was fun to hear some soundtracks i'd enjoyed previously, but not known were done by him (namco museum ds, opoona) thanks for introducing me to some good tunes!
So many games i never seen or heard. So that's how you find them Looking up names who work with.
Correct. Namiki had a comprehensive worklist on his old website. VGMdb also helps to catalog composers' works, and Namiki's worklist there is getting more and more complete, thanks to the efforts of me and others.
these are cool
there are track credits for fantasy earth zero? 👀
@@kaishmuper Namiki personally confirmed that he did this track (the only one he did). Iwata also provided some info in an interview from 2007: web.archive.org/web/20070627082749/iwata.cocoebiz.com/interviews/interview06.shtml
This is great way to discover some the best tracks of my days of youth. So cool he did Comona!
kinda shocked endless love is absent from this mix, really nice track from namiki
It's a great track, but I've included a lot here and I strived for variety, and I had already included Frozen Party which was the track that actually introduced me to his music!
@@underratedbangers6053 I thought Degeneracy was my introduction to Namiki's music, but then learned he composed the original music in Namco Museum DS, which I played lots of when I was young, and then learned he did the music in Fantasy Zone II DX/W which I've also played alot. I was shocked to learn I've loved his music much longer than I first thought!
Thank you for this compilation, I've been listening to Manabu Namiki's music lately and this will help me discover more of his works
this is just a xenoverse track
damn
underrated banger
i jsut wanted to say thanks for your service great tracks on your channel i care
Since this game uses MusicPlayer2000, it'd make more sense to say "sequences" instead of MIDI (even though mp2k sequences are midi-like and converted at compilation), and "samples" or "samplebank" instead of soundfont. Tbh i can't think of any GBA games that use soundfonts for their samples, but I know a handful just have standard MIDI sequences in the ROM. WarioWare is one, its sound driver is definitely a variant of MP2K, but because of the sequences just being mid files it's incompatible with all MP2k ripping/playing tools (which probably all expect the lack of a file system). I don't know what provoked that I just like rambling about this stuff :P
You're right, though tbf I just used "soundfont" because it's become a generic term at this point, and not so much the game literally using SF2s. Of course it doesn't literally use MIDIs either but as you said, they're MIDI-like and the original tracks would've been written as MIDIs to begin with before being converted by Motoyama and Namiki.
@@underratedbangers6053 I tend to avoid the terms because there's lots of misinformation about GBA ripping online. Many people assume tools that convert sequences back into midi and the samples into sf2 files are just "ripping" from the game, partly because of old bad tutorials (which were outdated by the time they were uploaded). I wish I could make a better tutorial to avoid misinformation, especially for DS, but I don't have the resources. Regardless, I just avoid giving people the expectation that most GBA games have mids and sf2s floating in their file systems, mainly because most don't even have file systems.
Yeah, totally fair. I suppose I was just intentionally using "dumbed down" language here, might not have been a good idea lol. I do agree that stuff like tutorials shouldn't oversimplify things and instead provide clarifications.
This track sounds like it came out from Kururin Edits 1 & 2: just for the sentence to make sense Same composer after all
sounds a bit pc-engine-y and early-namco-y to me it's good!
I'm thinking the same , a lot of early namco arcade games sound similar

Love this composers style His work on Mamorukun curse is also fantastic

Insane
that intro is straight Ketsui lol
this is like the twin brother of Fly to the Leaden Sky who is more shy and less popular at school
the title to this vid used to be jerez btw
This beat is so sick! Reminds me of Reptile's theme from Mortal Kombat.
Dimplly Birds Sky(1998)-Zax Brutson
Funky Jam(1990)-Matt Brendrew
Just found out this was the same singer featured on ぱんださんようちえん under the pseudonym Mahiru Sonoda, her voice definitely sounded familiar! For most of her voice actress roles she usually goes as 理多 or sometimes 平井理子, including another song with Shinji Hosoe where he mentioned her as "one of his favorite divas" ahaha
Took me a minute to catch it 💕
oh, you didn’t understand me correctly the SMAF sound chip that been used in 2002 Samsung phones. I need sound font that includes the samples from the SMAF sound chip that’s been used in 2002 Samsung phones like the SGH-T 100
