Yes I can RECIEVE Jesus Eucharist but I didn’t kneel I can bow…and put out my tongue…when I wasn’t a Catholic I was lost in RECIEVING the holy Eucharist in the right way…but the other Catholic Church RECIEVE by the hand which you say have some partials…so I need to RECIEVED on my tongue and am yet to learn the proper way of kneeling before Jesus at the Eucharist…a bow is it acceptable…?

As a kid not raised in church, I did notice Catholics do this. As a young adult & Catholic, I see some in my parish do this, & I would love for all Catholics to want to do this too. Counting blessings - I may be an adult convert on paper, but I've always been drawn to the Church.

We don’t touch the chin, we kiss the cross. However, that kiss is not a part of the signal, but there is no prohibition.

I am a cradle Catholic (68 yo) and I do make the sign of the cross with the index finger and thumb and kiss it. I do this when praying other than with my rosary. Of course praying with the rosary I kiss the crucifix. The tapping of the chin is new but I can see the connection and confusion.

It's not that they are touching their chin, but rather between their thumb,& forefinger, there is an imaginary crucifix that they are holding that would have been attached to the rosary (That they don't have with them at the time) and the top portion of the cross is what they are actually kissing; therefore, the remaining fingers are close to the chin and gives the illusion that they are touching their chin.(Because the side of their forefinger,being that it's rounded), fits beautifully below the lower part of the bottom lip since it also curved.Sometimes, one will notice that their little pinky is slightly elevated and curved much like when one's drinking a cup of tea.Sometimes, you will notice that people will Subconsciously when they do the kissing towards the end, do not want to touch their face for whatever reason (make-up, lipstick etc.) What they'll do is, they'll kiss the imaginary crucifix inches outwards away from their face.

Gago. Nobady should touches the chin after making a sign of the cross. Instead, its like a kiss on the lips to signify that someone who make the sign of the cross is kissing it as a sign of reverence to the faith.

I have been a Catholic since birth eighty five years ago! I attended Catholic school! I go to Mass! In all that time I have never seen a Catholic touch their chin after the sign of the cross! Maybe this is a European custom! Some kiss the crucifix of the rosary after praying it! When we are about to hear the gospel , we make the sign of the cross with our fingers on our forehead, our lips and our heart! It indicates we desire to have the words in our heads, on our lips and in our heart! All just loving gestures to the Lord!

I'm glad you explained.the custom is you use the thumb over the index finger to formate the cross and you kiss that not touching the chin . It's a form of adoration of the cross and love for the cross of Christ.

I am RC and do this, it’s because we kiss the rosary crucifix before and after saying our rosary, so this is out of habit rather than anything else. 🙏🙏🙏

I am 73 years old taught by the Grey Nuns and was never taught to touch my chin as part of making the sign of the cross.
