Aurora is the best starter ship. This change is definitely nice. Since the majority of what can be done right now is just combat style missions or delivery, DPS and interior are important factors for picking a ship. Beds help if you want to log off at your location which is often convenient vs traveling back to a station. From this list the aurora has better than most fire power. It has a bed and a small interior for a few deliveries. It is also the cheapest ship in the verse. Aurora MR - 551 sustained DPS with gimballed repeaters with bed and interior - $30 (ES standalone is only $20) Mustang A - 561 sustained DPS with gimballed repeaters no bed or interior - $30 Titan - 521 sustained DPS with gimballed repeaters (551 with fixed) with bed and interior - $60 100i - 420 sustained DPS with gimballed repeaters with bed and interior - $50 Cutter - 390 sustained DPS with gimballed repeaters with bed and interior - $45 Kore - 662 sustained DPS with gimballed repeaters no bed with interior - $65 If I could go back 8 years I would have not bought any other ships except my Aurora. Back then you could not buy ships in game. So I bought a few over the years. Now there is really no reason. Yeah, you have to buy ships each patch, but not like they are custom ships. Everyone has the same one. They are not special like so many other RPGs. Sorry, a few get a name on the hull that you can barely see. Totally worth it.

This is a great quality of life upgrade of the Aurora and brings the ship more in line with its starter competitors. It also makes starter box missions a lot more feasible for new players. Good stuff.

This isn't new back in 3.17 i had aurora as my starter and it was like this

The stairs have always been there. It's the animation getting in the ship which appears to have changed. It's more of an upright walk into the ship vs what use to appear to be grabbing at the door to climb in. Go back and look at the old videos on the aurora. Subliminal had a good one where you can see the difference. l looked again. You actually grabbed with both hands to climb onto the ship.

Yea I think it was added in 3.18, I agree it made the ship that bit more realistic

I didn't know this was new. I bought the Aurora MR for my starter, been playing for a few days now, and it's been like this. Neat to know it wasn't always like that.
