Flooret Modin Luxury Vinyl Plank Review - Elmstead Signature
In this video, I'll walk you through why I chose to install the Flooret Modin collection in our home. I'll show all of the samples I got, the tests I did with the flooring, and talk about how it has held up over the last 6 months. This was our first time installing flooring but this flooring was beginner friendly to install and it turned out great so stick around for the reveal at the end!

Beautiful! Where do you buy the bamboo mats?

There’s got to be a better way :)
Yeah! We’ve thought of a few! One day we’ll try remaking it!
Now, do all that while not having another place to stay or put your things. Thats more realistic
Yeah that would be hard no doubt! We had a lot of stuff in our garage and attic for storage and projects. But after we got the back master bedroom primed with Kilz and painted we were able to use it. We just only brought over what we absolutely needed to live and used things like paper products in the kitchen since we still didn’t have a functioning kitchen for a long time which was rough. Then we waited to move everything over from storage until we finished the kitchen and floors. I would say the biggest help is not having children yet 😂 because we wouldn’t have been able to move in with it being such a wreck and mess let alone have the time to remodel it all DIY while working full time jobs!
Beautiful job!
Thank you!
Thank you for the wonderful and thorough video. Really helped me. Your floors are beautiful.
@@crystal5195 I’m so glad you found it helpful, thank you ☺️
The two of you did a fantastic job, well done

Was DIYing this coffee table cost effective? In terms of time, no. This design took a lot of labor, but we have ideas on how to improve that if we ever decide to make it again! In terms of materials, see below! Here’s the breakdown: • $9.76 - 19.5% of 1/2” single sided oak plywood, other side is birch. $50 is the cost of a full sheet, but we only used a 30”x30” square and we can reuse the rest of the wood. • $37.5 - 62.5% of 3/4” birch plywood. $60 is a full sheet of birch ply, we will repurpose the 1.5ftx8ft unused section. I am counting the inside of the circles as waste. • $15.19 - 1” edge banding 10ft roll, I only used 8ft but I’m including the 2ft being waste. • $12.8 - 3/4” edge banding used 16ft • $81.58 dowels (needed 170 14” dowels) • $80 CNC cost • $3 sealer Total $239.83 Keep in mind this is assuming you use the rest of the oak plywood and birch plywood, I am not including the cost of a full sheet of plywood in the total price. Using something like pole wrap could make it so you don’t need a CNC machine saving you $80 and it would take way less time. The pole wrap material is going to be just as expensive as the cost of the dowels. That’s the fun in DIY is experimenting and coming up with great solutions!
that's incredible, it looks like both tables didn't have 2 panels meaning they never had to put the dowels into a second piece, either way this is just wow, i love it

I like the review, but just a suggestion. Get yourself a decent bluetooth microphone so we can hear you better.

Ooooo ok Derek just saved me too
woah love that! I cant stand cleaning up paint after use
It’s so awesome!!!
Love that your hubby got you what you wanted. It's the little moments that make your heart full of love! I don't want diamonds or flowers, I have the hubby that helps me finish my projects.
Yes he’s the best! We do everything as a team and I couldn’t be more thankful for him 🥰
i have adhd and im an artist who uses acrylic and just leaving it to dry is my worst habit 😭
I try reallyyyyy hard with my brushes because I bought myself expensive ones and don’t want to ruin them 😅 luckily my husband is the best and will usually catch me if I walk away and gently remind me if I left my brushes out so I can get them cleaned before I ruin them!
Instead of blaming a made up disorder you can try building better habits?
hi, actual person with adhd here. adhd isn't a made up disorder. it's clinically proven, and it's something that happens in the brain of people with adhd vs people without adhd. it's also genetic in some cases. it's debilitating, and people do try to "build better habits" but in adhd brains it's harder to maintain those habits, even when you try to build them.
Boo on you. It's a real thing!
bad take to say add/adhd are "made up" disorders when the decades of research and peer reviewed and published articles on recognition, diagnosis and treatment are all easily accessible lol
adhd is a real disorder, hope this helps
if you have adhd building up good habits requires that you realize what works for most people wont work for you; so actually, shes literally doing what you asked, shes doing it in a way where her disorder doesnt stop her. maybe you should go on more walks, it might dislodge the stick from your ass lol
What a great detailed review. You really put this flooring to the test! I can’t believe how great the color you selected hides the dirt and how durable it is.
Thanks for the review!
Tips for saving money when installing carpet ⬇️ • carpet typically comes in 12’ or 15’ rolls and you buy however many feet of the roll you need, so keep that in mind when calculating how much carpet you need because if you only want a 9’ x 9’ piece, unfortunately you’ll have to buy a 12’ x 9’ piece and have some waste. • Home Depot and Lowe’s have a discounted carpet area where you can find leftover carpet for a fraction of the price so that’s a great place to look if you aren’t picky on the carpet! • Do everything you can before renting the power stretcher (carpet padding and cutting the carpet) that way you can rent it for as little of time as possible. If you need it for longer than the minimum time of 4 hours but not a full day, ask them if they’ll prorate the price! • if you are doing a large room that is going to require a seam, make sure to include that in your calculations! We didn’t have to do that for our room. What do you want to see the price of next?! Let me know in the comments!
And what are the prices for the tools and stain? Don’t say “anyone” when you mean people who have a shop in their garage.
The only tool I used is a drill. Almost everyone I know who doesn’t have a full shop has one, even if it’s a cheap one. That was the only tool I used since my wood was cut at Home Depot. I also said in the video, you don’t have to stain it. I had leftover stain I chose to use so it would match my floors and the cost of that came out to a couple cents for the amount I used. But that’s optional anyways.
Nice it reminds me of a greenhouse
Cool

50$ of materials…. Plus 400$ worth of your time….
It’s cute tho
I guess it depends on what dollar amount you put to your time, I would say $400 is a stretch for me but it’s definitely not a quick 1 hour DIY. Gluing the dowels on takes some time, but cutting them with a multitool and painting was very quick.
Here’s the link to all the supplies to make this light for $50! I included the flush saw and multitool we used, you don’t need both but you do need some way to cut them! This is a new way I’ve never seen. Is this supposed to be better than just using wood filler or Bondo and just sanding it down? Or is this just a quicker, easier method? Thank you 😊
I prefer not to use bondo when possible especially because if you put too much you have to sand the excess off and then you sand and just end up exposing more particle board. This filler primer just fills in the spots after a couple of rounds no sanding needed. Wood filler is just too soft in my opinion and wouldn’t be good on particle board damage.

Is it ok to remove the wall? We have kinda same layout kitchen wall then living space. Im worried the house will collapse
You should definitely check with your local county and have it checked out. Our wall was not load bearing but not all homes are the same. If it is load bearing there’s still ways to make things work, it just might involve having certain beams incorporated into the design and a structural engineer should be able to help you and get a permit.
There's no finished product yet 😄
No not yet! Hoping to finish it this week!
Can you open the cabinet door all of the way?🤔
Yes! It’s just like if there was another cabinet there :) you just have to make sure to pick the correct hinges and have the right amount of separation per door, for our hinges we needed to allow for a 1/4” per door.
Thank you for sharing this!
No problem! I hope it helped!
Omg! You guys did an amazing job!!

You're doing a phenomenal job! What type of paint did you use?
Thank you! It was Sherwin Williams Emerald urethane trim enamel in peppercorn and accessible beige. My clear coat is Behr satin polyurethane water based. Although if I could go back, I would have chosen wise owl one hour enamel and done a color match to the SW colors. It would have been more expensive but it’s so durable. I was previously a furniture flipper and the quality of wise owl one hour enamel is far superior than any paint I’ve ever used. But SW was significantly cheaper so I decided to try it out. And the urethane trim enamel is definitely high quality! So don’t get me wrong there, but it would be a runner up to wise owl.
@halversonhomedecor I originally found your channel because I'm thinking about knocking down a wall and building an island. How did you get your 3d renderedings, or was that an inspo pic? It just amazes me how talented you 2 are! Thank you so much for answering my question about the paint. I recently tried to paint my door with black akyld cabinet paint, and it turned out horribly.
@@sunny3384thank you!! I’m so glad you found us too! I love hearing what other people are working on! I originally used cabinets.com to mock up my kitchen in 3D and figure out the exact sizes for my cabinets, you can add in walls, windows, door openings, etc! I also used Bristles AI to help me design my kitchen and all the details. If you go to their channel you should see the mock-up I did with their tool to visualize more than just the cabinets (colors, countertops, hardware, floors, backsplash, etc).
@@sunny3384 I just looked at Bristles AI’s channel, our video is the most recent short they’ve posted.
Did you have to mention they were a smoker?
Yes the previous owners smoked inside 🤢 we gutted everything… floors, cabinets, doors, trim, etc. then used an ozone machine combined with multiple coats of kilz odor blocking primer then paint! Now the smell is gone ☺️
It’s just part of the journey we’ve gone through with this house and we’ve been doing it all ourselves. That’s why it’s taken 9 months because of how extensive the remodeling was.
@user-bv4lg4il2p how about you remove that cigarette stick from your butt... That may help lessen your sensitivity. And YEAH, she had "to mention" it 😑
Wow 🎉🎉
You did it great!!! The angel is so important to fill in the grout. Have seen so many trials here on TH-cam, and so many did it wrong. They will understand it better if they want to clean the tiles. Dirt is hanging between the tiles much easier because there is no flat surface. You did it right!! 😊
Thank you! Yes that would be a pain to clean!
Wow like so nice
Thank you so much!
Fifty years experience says you don’t need the steel brackets. Use a sheet of plywood under your laminate. Good to go!
That’s good to know! I wasn’t sure with stove cut out in the middle so we just added them to be safe! Thanks!
your angle support screw is in the crack of two pieces of wood!
Can you use it on mdf board as well?
I would think so! MDF is basically just denser particle board!
That’s cool
