A squad of Marine soldiers aboard the starship Aegis is assigned to investigate a derelict pirate ship that has been drifting in deep space for centuries-the infamous Black Pearl. As they board the vessel, they discover that it is still operational, yet unnervingly empty. Soon, they realize the Pearl is haunted by the souls of its long-dead pirate crew, cursed to sail the galaxy forever. Now, the Marines must fight for their lives as they uncover the dark history behind the pirates' curse.
It’s revealed that the curse was cast by a vengeful alien species, and the pirates’ souls are not bound to the ship-they are bound to the Marines. Each Marine begins to see ghostly versions of the pirates they killed, and the longer they stay on board, the more their minds are overtaken by the ghosts’ violent memories.
In a final desperate attempt to escape, the surviving Marines manage to destroy the Black Pearl, but as they reach their ship, they see their own reflections in the glass-now shadowed, twisted by the pirates' influence. “They’re still here,” Sergeant Ramirez whispers, as their ship’s engines begin to fail, leaving them stranded in deep space.
