Should the Reds Sign This Power Hitting Outfielder in Free Agency?
Identifying a Potential Outfield Free Agent the Cincinnati Reds Could Target
The Reds should be actively looking for an outfield bat in the offseason. Tyler O'Neil could be someone the Reds look to target through free agency.
Let's dive into the pros and cons of signing Tyler O'Neil.
The Reds were 19th in all of Major League Baseball with 174 home runs in 2024. Considering Great American Ball Park is known for being a hitter's park and known for surrendering home runs, 19th is subpar.
O'Neil is coming off one of the best seasons of his career. He slashed .241/.336/.511 with 31 home runs and a wRC+ of 131 with Boston in 2024. Adding that power to the middle of the lineup could be a big upgrade for the Reds.

Your Video Content are Amazing and Engaging, Would you love some recommendations and suggestions for improvement
I'm not sold on O'Neill. His batting average over the last three years is sub 240. His defense and splits are problems.
Yeah. I go back and forth. But his power is exciting
Mr Francona walks in & said it's time we open the check book... I like the sound of Profar & Vlad Jr
@@Stephincyber Vlad Jr?
5:05 He sounded so depressed
No on Profar. We need young err player, and especially better defense!
Would rather have Rooker than Profar, but if a trade cannot be made, then by all means sign Profar as he is much better than option than the Reds existing platton outfield. The Reds need power in the OF.
Yes. I have been hearing Teoscar Hernandez is most likely going to the reds if not resigning in LA. I don't see us getting Profar though, I'd love it but I don't know if our luck is that good just yet. Santander and Cowser I also have heard mentioned so we shall see 🎉Next year free agency I think will be the year of getting big name players 👍. I would like to see Crochet or Tanner Scott in the mix of signing.
@@MotörSkill I’d love Hernandez, but I’d be a bit surprised if the Reds shell out the money for him.
Nice highlight reel especially for 2024. Reds need an Outfield bat.
He scares me because last season was the first that he's had big production and he's gonna be costly. If I'm the GM...I'm finding a way to deal Candelario...I'd try to package him with a couple of those young prospects we have maybe for a Brent Rooker. I know we need a POWER bat in the lineup ! But I really think the Reds missed a great opportunity. This team is built on speed...but that speed does you no good if you can't utilize it by getting on base. You can afford to be a .240 hitter that strikes out 150 times IF...you're hitting 30 - 40 Bombs and 30 Doubles....we were a team FULL of .240 hitters that strike out 150 times and NONE of them came CLOSE to 30 HR's ! I think the SMARTEST thing the Reds could have done is offer the Hitting Coach job to Votto. Think about it, these guys need to make more contact, walk more and strike out less...who did that better than Votto ? And when he was here playing with the "young'ens" they loved him and respected him...they would listen to him. I also didn't like trading India for pitching. Starting pitching wasn't that big of an issue ( having a manager who didn't know how to handle the starters was the bigger problem ) India is one of those guys you'll never get fair trade value for because he does the "little things", the "dirty work" that don't show up on the stat sheet...that PLUS the fact that he would be a valuable trade piece to package with Candelario and a prospect or two to get a big power bat...and / or a traditional lead - off guy that makes contact and gets on base ( maybe Friedl is THAT guy..if he can stay healthy ) would have made much more sense in my opinion.
@@keithsowder4308 we won’t be able to get Rooker in any deal involving Candelario
@@QueenCitySportz I think we could, they are pretty desperate for help at 3b. And yes, I know getting rid of Candelario would mostly be a salary dump BUT...if you sweeten the deal by eating part of the contract and throwing in a top prospect or two ( we are stocked with tons of INF prospects and good, young arms ) I think it's possible...and in my opinion a much safer play than signing Profar.
Any everyday RH outfielder with significant pop and average defense is first on my list of things Reds need. If that is JP then so be it. Reds need to get aggressive spending more than they are traditionally comfortable with. You have the coach now complete the players. Now is the time! Fans are losing patience!!!
@@cwlvslb I agree. Need an outfield power bat.
Profar is a far better option than platooning Fraley/Benson/Fairchild. I do worry about his consistency and defense, but if the Reds aren't in the market for Santander or Hernandez, Profar would be a good addition. That said, Reds, go sign Soto!
@@MsNikita1900 I’d agree. Soto would be a dream!
@@QueenCitySportz I'd love it but they aren't signing Soto. He's probably never going to play anywhere other than the Yankees, Mets, or Dodgers for the rest of his career. I'd take Profar over the F/B/F platoon though Fairchild is a better defender when he doesn't make weird head mistakes.
@ Agree
The reds will definitely be in the market for Santander and teoscar they have a little under 40 mil to spend if they match last years payroll which they have said they were gonna
@@AlexanderGarcia-uo2hm either of those guys would be a huge upgrade.
❤
Train him to succeed Francona
I'd like to see him go down the pipeline of Assistant Hitting Coach < Hitting Coach < Manager
It's also a good way to get McLain's bat in the lineup more often.
@@MsNikita1900 yep exactly!
For someone like me from the UK, people like Abbotts is why I am attracted to that team, in a split second of throwing the ball away, he emidiatly gets it back, the ball says nope, your not losing me this fast
It’s weird seeing videos about someone I grew up playing baseball and basketball with when we were 6-7. Glad to hear he’s doing well
Yet another Reds prospect who’s an easy guy to root for.
So true!
Big Jay Allen guy here 👋
@@honestfan420 he’s awesome!
So true! It’s annoying.
Thank you!
216 strikeouts
@@nengehtardzer2839 you don’t know ball
@@QueenCitySportzhe has a point. For an 809 ops 216 k’s isn’t unacceptable but it’s not good either. He’s an elite baserunner and has great raw power. His fielding is good too but the bat still leaves much to be desired
@@adrianfigueredo278 judging a player on one stat isn’t how to do things
@@QueenCitySportz I understand but hitting is the most valuable thing in my opinion a player can bring to the table. He’s got elite power but doesn’t hit the ball consistently enough to be a good hitter. Don’t get me wrong he’s a good player and very electric but just not the star some ppl think he is
It’s sad when someone go out of there way to say something negative about someone especially when you chose to watch the clip😂😂😂
It's good to hear he has found his control.
Yes!
Francona is going to be fantastic for this team!
@@MsNikita1900 yes!

Good. Ray Fosse forever.
Rest Easy Pete Rose. A legend for sure. Condolences to his family. ❤❤❤❤
At least the Reds ended the season on a high note. Sure, it didn't go the way I thought it would, but at least they aren't Pittsburgh.
@@RazorSaysRawr love the positivity!
Cincinnati Reds should fired president Nick Krall too poor leaderships as well Manger David Bell.😊😊
I think Krall has done some good things, but this is an important offseason.

@@MsNikita1900 😂😂
It was time for Bell to go. He let too many things slide this season (poor defense, poor base running, etc.). Will a different manager have better success? Idk.

Great win, but I hope Williamson's injury isn't severe.
@@MsNikita1900 yeah that looked bad
We need a manager that builds a culture year in and year out where players thrive. David Bell hasn’t done that.
