I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus - Adam Mormolstein {2024}
#christmas #christmasmusic #guitar
I recently surpassed 1000 subscribers! Thank you to all the new folks have checked out my music
I definitely appreciate all the subs/comments/likes!!
In 2005, my sister came home on winter break with a shiny new white Apple Macbook laptop, which happened to have one of the first versions of Garageband.
I promptly stole the laptop and spent the afternoon recording a Christmas song (using only the built in internal laptop mic, oh my!) and a Christmas tradition was born.
Every year since I have summoned my inner Burt Bacharach/Lawrence Welk/Chet Atkins/Jimmy Bryant to arrange a classic Christmas tune.
Please enjoy this years offering!!
You can check out the entire album (so far), "elf Titled" on Bandcamp here: adammormolstein.bandcamp.com/album/elf-titled

You Don't Have To Say You Love Me - Dusty Springfield (Tascam 4 Track Cassette Tape Cover)

#dustyspringfield #cassette #4track #tascam #portastudio Join me as I document the process of recording Dusty Springfield's classic version of "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" using a Tascam Portastudio 4 Track Tape Recorder. This definitely turned out to be more challenging than I originally expected, but I think the end result came out pretty good. Let me know what you think! What song sho...
America - Simon & Garfunkel Cover
มุมมอง 3043 หลายเดือนก่อน
#paulsimon #simonandgarfunkel #america Paul Simon has written too many good songs to count, but America, off of the Simon & Garfunkel album Bookends, is one of my absolute favorites. It has a cinematic feel to it's story telling ("And the moon rose over an open field") The orchestration is majestic and dynamic (Those drums?? That bass playing?? The french horn?? So good). It's hopeful and forlo...

#gerryrafferty #rightdowntheline A few weeks ago I got a text from Tony (steel guitar) that said: "Hey! We should record a cover of Gerry Rafferty's 'Right Down The Line', and then surprise Thom (ld vox) and get him to sing it!" And that's exactly what we did. Please enjoy our take on Right Down the Line! Special thanks to my good friends Thom & Tony for lending their talents to this song! Thom...

#Wefive #YouWereOnMyMind Thank you to the King of TH-cam Surf Guitar Tom Conlon for requesting I do this song!! Bus Stop - The Hollies (Cover)

#thehollies #busstop According to Graham Nash’s autobiography “Wild Tales”, The Hollies went to meet a so called 15 year old (though some accounts say he was 19) songwriter named Graham Gouldman. He played them “Bus Stop”, which they were immediately excited to put their Hollies spin on. Nash asked “Uh, before we go… got anything else?”. Gouldman started playing “Look Through Any Window” which ...

#4track #cassette #TheLovinSpoonful #ButchiesTune And now something for a little different. I decided to record this great Lovin' Spoonful track using my Tascam Portastudio 424 to see if I could get close to that 60's analog sound. I came across this song when doing my last video and it had the requisite "4 track-iness" so it was the perfect candidate for this experiment! 0:00 - Intro 0:19 - Th...

Possibly my favorite Spoonful song. Random Musings: * My mom received an Autoharp as a birthday present in the mid 90's, which I promptly commandeered and have to this day :) * Don't be alarmed by the panning! I think the 60's aesthetic of hard panning things left and right is cool, so I kept that in this mix. * I love the "felt more than heard" guitar work of Zal Yanovsky on this track. Everyb...
Crimson And Clover - Tommy James & The Shondells (Cover)

#crimsonandclover #tommyjames #theshondells I continue on my pursuit of covering my favorite songs from my formative years as a 60's obsessed 7th grader in the 90's. It's been fun for me to relive these songs, forensically pick them apart, hear things I've never heard in them before, and try to reconstruct them. I hope you enjoy!

Nothing in the world like tape/reel to reel.
The best sounding production that I have heard on TH-cam using a 4 track recorder of any kind. Great job!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching.
that sounded great!!
Wonderful, congratulations! How did you treat the vocals to give them this warmth ?
Good job! 👍👍🎤🎸🎅🏻
Thank you for listening!🎄
Nice rendition. No surprise - you are gifted. As I watch so many great renditions played by so many top notch guitarists (Roy Clark, Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler, Les Paul, Eric Clapton, and so many more including no-names), why is this so damn popular? What makes it so pleasurable to listen to musically?
Thank you! Santo and Johnny somehow stumbled upon the exact chord progression/melody/instrumentation/recording vibe that is irresistible to listeners.
@ agree. And thanks for adding the original authors. A bit of oversight but was focusing on covers (a sign you have something special when these masters and the rest of the wanna-bees copy you).
Just curious... Why didn't you just choose to record multi directly into Logic?
I’ve mixed the individual tape stems in Logic before but theres something very cohesive/glued together about the stereo mixes that come out of the Tascam. Plus its fun to experiment with different workflows. Thanks for checking out my vid!
I love those analog machines. I had a Tascam back in the 80's . I still use the 6 channel mixer.
Love it!
Thanks for sharing! Amazing as always!
Thanks for listening Matt! 🎄
Fastening. Had no idea how that is done. Thanks
Thanks for watching Gerri Lynn! Hope you’re doing well 🙂
Fantastic! I’m a Big fan!
Thanks for listening!
Absolutely first class. Merry Christmas :)
Thanks so much for checking out my stuff this year! Merry Christmas to you too!
So good! You’re so creative with your video editing skills. Love all of Mama Billie’s Christmas decor getting shown off, she would be so happy :)
Thank you Ash!!!! 🎄🎅
This is some of the best stuff recorded onto a Porta I have ever heard keep it up!
Thank you 🙏
The drum/guitar combo on the right channels sounds great
Glad you like it! Thanks for listening🥁🎸
I can hear this song without feeling me disapointed
'Cause I'm watching and hearing the singer I can believe he is not the original one. Best musician I've seen.
Thank you 🙏
One man band. You did a great job with an awesome oldie.
That's awesome!! ❤
Thank you Hooks!!
Gostei dessa música não do meu tempo mais amo esses tipos de música dos anos 60 70 ❤️
Thank you!
1) the 424 is such a bad ass machine. Rock solid workhorse. 2) Matt Storey has one in absolutely mint condition that he refuses to sell me. 3) as usual, awesome video 4) I did something similar a few years back with a Fostex X-15. th-cam.com/video/IY16Usg3eEI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CPUMGhCZjH2Al66O
1) Yes, the 424 is amazing 2) Ha! Keep trying 3) Thank you :) 4) Loved the vid and the song!! Great work!
These are helpful lessons
Glad you like them!
great recording
Referred here by Tom Conlon. He was right - you make great music, Adam. Thanks for sharing it!
Welcome to the channel and thank you for the kind words!!
Adam, you inspired me to cover this too! I just posted it and I gave you a shout out in the description.
Love it!!
Love the oldie classics you cover!! I'd love to see a full screen of all your playing at once, including background vocals.........maybe future videos?
Not a bad idea. Thanks for watching!
Great cover!!!
man this is amazing... I think Emitt would have been very pleased seeing such such a faithful cover of one of his songs! Love it
Thank you! Definitely would have been cool if Emitt was still around to hear this
Wow, very well done!! Love the editing as well, great stuff man
I.....i almost couldnt tell this from the original. Thats scary.
Ha! That’s a huge compliment because i think the original is perfect 😍
@adammormolsteinmusic me too...born in 96. This sound was passed down- not found on the radio. Had to put a quarter on the needle to make the Tommy James vinyl work Your doing God's work lol keep it up

Awesome job! Great cover!!
Thanks for listening!!
Fantastic work.
Thanks for checking it out!
What a great production you did on this classic. You are the master of the Tascam 424. Make more please!
Thank you! I have more planned so stay tuned.
Totally brilliant! Incredible talent! Perfect in every single way.
Thank you!!
Oh hey...Kathy's Clown. You did my suggestion, what a cool dude! Top song, top recording, top work. You're incredibly talented :) You absolutely nailed that!
Thanks for the great suggestion and for the kind words. Appreciate you!
That bass drum!
Haha, yes it’s an old Slingerland with a custom painted head!
Good job
Thanks for listening!
Did you use outboard preamps or only the tascam? It sounds so good!
Thanks! The Portastudio doesn’t have phantom power so I used an ART tube pre to power my condenser mic.
Incredible cover. Kudos for including the original near-miss on the snare drum at 2:15.
Thank you Austin. You have a great ear for picking up on that snare hit!
REALLY impressive fidelity and takes on the 4 track. I have the same portastudio you make me want to break her out!
Thank you!! You should definitely bust out your portastudio.
Adam, just found this video . What a great recording on a 4 track! The mix on TH-cam sounds a little heavy to the left. I think your bass, drums and lead vocal need to be mixed a little more to the right channel as the Telecaster sounds a bit out of balance on the right side, almost like it is the only instrument on the right channel. But overall, great tone. Perhaps the Lovin' Spoonful version of the song was mixed this way, but I think your mix would be perfect if you just balance it a bit more. Offering constructive criticism. not trying to put down your work. The recording sounds great. Good luck. Great job.
Thanks James! You're right, I tried to emulate the funky 60s mixing of the original Spoonful recording (which has things hard panned left and right). Unfortunately I'm a sucker for those quirky old school mixes. Thanks for the listen!
killed it. what a fantastic and underrated song
Thank you! One of P. Simons greatest
Sounds good..like your recording approached..
Thank you! Appreciate you listening :)
This is on another level! Thank you so much for shedding light on 4-track recording and doing it so good, but mostly of course showing Emitts genius ❤ You’re incredible, keep it up!
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words 😁
Last shot… perfect.
Thanks Keith! 💀
We all go a little mad sometimes. Haven't you?
Such a great line!
@@adammormolsteinmusic Great work on the track, by the way. :)
Holy Crap! So cool!!
Ha thank you!

Relatively unknown and underappreciated.
