My number 1 advice for gringos: DON’T VISIT COLOMBIA. You’re much better off staying in America.

Tip number elleven, don't bring any expensive perfumes, colognes,toiletries etc to El Dorado Airport. It is 100 percent certain the airport security will confiscate it for their own use or to sell it on the black market. Be forewarned.

I'd say the main thing is having a plan beforehand, especially if you want to go on safari, I used gotukio to book everything and it was such a life saver

Don’t give random beggars money, in any culture. If we never gave them money, they wouldn’t be bothering us in the first place. It also encourages crime; as when you don’t give money, on occasion the beggars will get angry, follow you, and in general, make you uncomfortable

Were you able to eat okay as a vegetarian? I am a vegan and will be traveling there in December. I don’t anticipate too many issues with getting enough. I ate well last year in South Africa and hope my experience in that regard is similar in Kenya.

If you want more, definitely look around other locations you can include in your trip. #25: Most non-tourist stuff opens at 7 AM. Most tourist stuff opens at 9, or even later. Do keep that in mind when planning.

Kenya is basically Visa on arrival now. It's Visa free now as of 2024 but with an admin fee. There is typically no way around the non-citizen price in attractions. This is common in a few countries. It really isn't that much more. It seems like you can negotiate but nope. Taking photos in the CBD is ok, maybe it was the complexion. I had no problem in front of the police and they knew I wasn't Kenyan. They don't wear shorts. Speaking of photos and the CBD, there are guys with great cameras that will take photos for you and they are very good. Get your negotiating skills together. Drones are illegal in alot of countries ban them, I wouldn't travel with one. I would take cell phone safety with a grain of salt. Every country I've been to, the locals warn me that theft is very common, i haven't had anyone try.

Consider booking your trip to kenya with prestige spheres concierge solutions service providers and all these fear wll be taken care of

I am Kenyan and I approve this video. Make susr you get a local guide to assist you in your tours until you understand how to navigate and deal with the locals.

Don't forget, Kenya is a former British colony. It is a fairly free and democratic country. The people in the cities speak good English and are very friendly.

If you go to the more uptown areas like Lavington, Westlands, Kilimani etc the stares do die down because a lot of white folks hang around there.

1 I'd like to add: Dont Expect everyone to cater to you as an English-speaker-only kinda person. I speak English, i make a living using my ESL skills. However, Colombia is a SPANISH speaking country, with several SPA-speaking countries around for 1000 miles. So don't do what I've (sadly) seen some tourists do: DEMAND someone speaks English to them. You're the guest here. That's not how it works. If 3% of Colombia can learn English with a B2 level, then you can surely learn A2 level spanish before you travel. it will connect you to people, and take you out of the expat bubble our resorts create.

Nowadays it's ok to film, infact the streets of Nairobi are overcrowded with people on TikTok especially on Sundays
