Koprapodi/Thengapodi-Recipe by Jayam

Ingredients
Dried coconut or normal coconut--200gms
Black ulad dal split--200gms
Red chilli- 150gms
Asafoetida-1 cherry sized
Tamarind-1gooseberry sized
Crystal salt- 1 1/2 tbsp
Sugar-3 tsp
Coconut oil-3tsp
Method
1.chop the dry coconut into small pieces.blend the chopped coconut for 1 minute.If you are using normal coconut grate it nicely.
2.roast the coconut along with Tamarind in low flame till it becomes golden brown co!our.( if you are using normal coconut it may take extra time).
3.pour oil in another pan and add asafoetida.roast it till it becomes fluffy..then remove it.
4.now add ulad dal and roast it till it gives good aroma.lower the flame once aroma comes out and then add red chilli and roast for a min.remove from the pan and let it cool.
5.once it is cool,by adding salt blend the mixture into a fine powder and keep it separately.
6.next blend the roasted coconut mixture .blend it lightly...excess blending may ooze out oil.
7.lightly blend sugar.
8.take the coconut mix,dal mix,sugar and blend nicely.
Mix it well and blend them to make a fine powder.
Enjoy the koprapodi with dosa,idli.
