Thank you! :) I did get very inspired by Jerry Goldsmith's Alien soundtrack and John Frizzel's Alien : Resurrection soundtrack to make it! Though I did not make anything as powerful as they do, I still feel that each piece I make brings me a little closer to being a better composer than I was during my last piece.

I have worked and fixed this Lettera 22 using the repair bible available for sale on the internet. I wouldn't say I repair them often since it's the only Olivetti I own. I wish I could get a Lettera 32 in the upcoming years as well. I apperciate your compliments and I thank you for them! Something I need to point out though is that I sometimes fix and work on typewriters I find as a very intermittent hobby. I buy typewriters when I find some that appeal to me and may go a year or two without buying or working on any just because I'm busy with either my career or studies. For example, right now I have moved overseas for a year to complete yet another degree in music. Since I'm 6000 km away from home, I have no access to any tools nor workspace and will probably not attempt any work on machines this year. With that said, I hope it answered your questions adequately and I wish you a wonderful day!

Hi there, I originally bought the Olivetti in an antique shop for about 120$ CAD. I didn't spend much on the repairs since I did them all by myself. I did buy the repair bible for the Olivetti, which is like an assembly book copied from the original factory. That book cost around 15$ CAD in PDF, then ribbons for about 12$, maybe some string for the carriage and some mineral oil. Even though I prefer to run my machines dry, this one needed a little more friction on one of the parts. Of course, if you need tools and parts it'll cost more. This machine was already in working conditions when I restored it.

@ Thank you! In actual fact, I'm trying to restore an Olivetti Lettera 22 at the moment. It seems like the carriage is stuck - I feel like I've tried everything, but I can't it to move more than a millimeter in either direction. It doesn't seem to be locked and it's hard to tell what else it could be from looking at it with the bottom removed - did yours have a similar problem?

Thanks Daniel! While I do agree the keyboard layout seems to be a variant of a Dvorak, I still haven't found any documentation about this exact layout. I have never typed on a Dvorak styled keyboard before that so of course, I need a little training! ;P I live in Montreal and the person selling the typewriter shipped it to me. I'll go ahead and practice my typing on the machine! I still need to fix a few details about the feeding rollers under the platen. I'm glad you enjoyed this video and I wish you a wonderful week!

Well, everyone has a different experience with these machines. While I feel it is a good quality one, someone else might not feel so! I hope you find a machine better suited to your expectations :)
