    Very very LOUD bark. They are the smartest dog I've ever seen. Our first was"Catdog" and he lived to be 23 years old. After he passed, we actually searched far and wide for a new one and he had such big paws to fill, but we found "Blue" when he was just 6 months old and he has been a joy and is so smart already. He literally house broke himself. This breed of dogs are somewhat high strung and extremely fast and agile and so very protective. They are terrific guard dogs, Blue has already mastered 8 video cameras on our property and barks if anything even moves on all 8 screens. Incredible.

    Both breeds are intelligent, loyal, energetic, a bit (or a lot) stubborn, loving, sweet, worthy companions. I can tell you without reservation that Cattle Dogs/Heelers are a challenge. I would start with an Aussie Shepherd and, if you're FULLY prepared, consider a Heeler. Cattle Dogs .....they're just a handful. They are NOT bad dogs. They're just not as easy as other breeds. If you don't do your homework and don't do the work, the failure of a Cattle Dog-parent relationship is YOUR fault. Be prepared. They're not demons but they do have very particular pecadilloes. If you're not ready to deal with that nonsense, don't bring one home. There are SO many other doggos who need love. Consider finding true love there :)

    What is the wide open YAWN ending in a High Pitched finish? Mine is like the Strativarius of Barking.. so many inflections/rhythms, staccato, howling, hooting(?) Very Expressive. He will strike up convo with dogs blocks away. He's so glad to see you, he's scary.. He's 60 lbs, all muscle. Very mouthy with me, but never bit me (yet). Very challenging, wants to be the Alpha so bad. Does Neutering reduce aggression?

    We live in an RV Park, a couple months ago a red heeler puppy, maybe 3,4 months old, showed up. She was terrified of people,(abused, dropped off?) She got fed, we managed to gain her trust, so we adopted her, got her micro chipped, vaccinated, spayed, Sadly there is no where to run here, we are both over 65 with physical limitations. I try to take her on long walks, I was hoping her chewing was just a puppy stage.

    If they did have dingo in their breeding,they probably wouldn't bark Dingoes dont bark

    • @SavageSniperGirl
      @SavageSniperGirl 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That assumes the dingo genes are dominating and overriding all others in regard to barking. Those dingo genes don't necessarily negate the genes contributed by domesticated drover dogs. Cattle Dogs are notoriously silent workers and do exhibit other very dingo-like characteristics, though, ie: the tendency toward burrowing or perching, amongst others. :)

      @@Redwarfa If I recall correctly, dingo blood added and extra does of stamina, hardiness and an ability to withstand the heat and harsh conditions of the outback. I sincerely don't want to get into an argument over the matter but I can absolutely see the benefit of dingo genetics to ACD's. Dingoes aren't vermin. They're just a native species of that particular region. Their inherent adaptations only make ACD's stronger and more capable, if not a bit stubborn and, on occasion, a bit ...well...ornery. I've had the privilege of raising and loving a few Cattle Dogs. They are definitely a lot work but they're also worth it. I wouldn't trade my experiences for the world :)

      @@SavageSniperGirl so they say,but I think not A DNA test would settle this but I can't see anyone in those days doing anything with a dingo except shooting them There is still a bounty of 120.00 on dingoes outside of protected areas

    I got me a australian cattle dog. He is such a loyal and smart dog. He is the first dog I ever had that stayed on the property. He will go everywhere I go with no leash. I live on a small farm. He protects all my animals. But he kills all wild animals. Birds, rabbits, frogs, possums, skunks, deer, squirels, He actually goes on patrol around the property every hour and chases the wild animals away. Mainly birds that sleep in the trees. But he protects my chickens. If he hears coyotes yelping he runs outside and barks and growls and the coyotes will actually stop. When neighbors dogs bark he will bark back to them and they will stop. He has one of the scariest sounding barks I have ever heard. He isnt afraid of anything but has never tried to bite any one.
