Used to walk from/to our house at 110 Broughton Road across both sets of steps to Westoe Road infant school in Chichester Road East by myself every day. Must be about half a mile or more.

My Dad worked At Robsons all his life, as foreman-John Gibson. My cousin was Maurice Brown. I have fond memories of my Dad taking me to "the shop" at the weekend, the smell of sawdust and seeing a boat under construction.

Interesting seeing how it all fit together. Being from the north side of the Tyne, South Shields was always a bit 'foreign' to me - wish I'd taken the time to see everything when it was still open. Looking round on Google maps, it's sad how anonymous what's on the site all looks now. Many thanks to your relative for taking the time to get out and video this for us to all see how it once was.

He was a legend mate. Gone but not forgotten. Used to leave the cage open and he used to have the run if the house at night then go back in the cage for a good sleep. Legend.

What a pretty hamster! I once dubbed one of my hamsters, Cookie, Master of Escape, because at one point, he really was one. He had the strength to move his cage, outwit any barrier, and come upstairs unnoticed. Hah hah hah!
