Man of many talents! Looks good!
❤
Might fine craftsmanship! Real cool!
Thank you Jeremy. Still wanting to do better with my leather work. It's a fun hobby for me. Have some more projects in the works.
@@karlo8093 Better than what I was doing in Boy Scouts! 😆
Call Dave, your canteen should have a lifetime guarantee and I would think a lid would be covered
Thanks Johnny! I'm gonna give that a try.
Just wanted to wish you n Ruby a very Merry Christmas n hope you two have a happy new year brother!!
Thank you John! Best of the holidays to you and your family too! Hoping 2025 is a great and adventurous year for all of us. Be back in the spring hopefully with a new run of vittles to share with everyone 😊
Totally agree! If they pressure can, which they do, then it gets subjected to some prime temps beyond boiling. As long as you use a water bath and avoid acidic foods, you should be good. I'd avoid direct fires as certain spots will have hot spots, and acids will eat even plastics at higher temps. Great camp btw!
A chef and an archer
🙂
Good hardy stuff for real brother
Thank you Tressa It's really good. Give it a try!
Never tried one before.... might need to try make one some day. Nice cake Karl
Thanks! It's really good. You should give it a try
In German : linsensuppe😁
Really good too. Instantly has became a favorite Thank you!
Looks good I hope you're doing well Tell the wife I said hi
Hiya Ron. It has been so busy since I changed jobs, but am doing well. Hoping things will slow down some so I can get caught up with everybody. Best wishes to you. Hopefully talk again soon.
I don't know why I don't make more soup. Thank you for sharing your recipe with us, Karl. Stay safe and stay warm
It's a good soup. Give it a try Sean. Hope you're doing well. Need to catch up on some folks.
It's definitely soup weather up in my neck of the woods. It was -16f when i woke up and dont think that it got above zero during the day. Did. You bake the bread? Sounds very good.
I did bake the bread. In the lil Coleman Camp Oven. Came out really good. There's a vid on it. It's finally cooling down here too, not quite your temperatures, but cold just the same. This is a good little soup, you should try it in your hunting stand.
My kinda soup.. throw hotdogs in it lol
LOL! Hard to go wrong there.
Howdy Karl !❤
Hiya Steve!
Was a delicious soup...and the bread - bliss😊
Both were really good, weren't they?
Very nice looking lentil soup Karl! Enjoyed it brother!
Thank you John!
Lovely video and the soup and bread looks delicious 🤗
Thank you. It's a tasty soup. Has quickly became a favorite. Thanks for stopping by!
It is 2 degrees here this morning, I think a bowl of that soup would help take the chill off!
Oh, I bet it would!
Looks Tasty. Thumbs up 👍
Thank you!
I miss her, too.
😪
A really nice and moist cake. 😊
Really is. I like it quite a bit.
Now I am hungry!
😊
Looks good Karl.
Thanks Nick!
Oh yes. Granny made stack cakes in the iron skillet , stacked them up with applesauce between the layers.
I've heard of the stacked cakes, but have never tried one.
I'm sitting here eating a pork chop a baked potato and some green beans. A piece of that cake would make a fine dessert.
Oh yes, I believe it would! If ya get a chance to try it, lemme know how you like it. Thanks for watching it 🙂
Great way to honor your moms memory. When I watched granny cook, I learned about a pinch of this or a dash of that. No measuring devices were ever used. To this day it’s how I cook.
It was definitely a pinch of this and a dash of that for her too! It just makes it hard to duplicate. Thanks for stopping in Kerry! Hope ya had a good Thanksgiving holiday and are doing well.
@ yep she adjusted her pinches based on the amount of other ingredients. I watched her make gravy and maybe short on flour or milk but didn’t matter😁
Nice video. I have the same Garmin....and the same hat. 🙂
Lol that's awesome! X2 Thanks!
instant read thermometer is the way to go! 205F for quick breads. Thank you for sharing this with us, Karl. Stay safe and stay warm
Thanks for the tip Sean. Gonna look into that, sure would make that easier. Thanks for watching too! Hope you're doing well.
Looks delicious. 😀👍✝️
Thank you! Came out really good
Inquiring minds want to know... did it come out of the bread pan easily? Like you, I would’ve greased the sides. I’m impressed you stuck to the recipe!!! 👍🏻
I know! I usually have to do a little something extra. Just can't help myself. It came out of the pan pretty well. No sticking really. There will be a Lentil Soup video in a couple weeks, the bread went with it, and also had it with the chicken cacciatore from a couple weeks back ago. Good bread!
You make it look so easy!!! I loved this bread. Yummy yummy in my tummy😊
It was good!
First!
Congrats!
I seriously need to get one of those dutch ovens. There is so much that can be done
They are very versatile! I promise, if you get one, you'll be hooked! Thanks for watching Tressa 🙂
there's a deer in your tent ⛺️
Yeah, he just kinda hangs iut there some times.
Im looking forward to trying this, thanks
Thank you Tressa! Lemme know how it comes out please
@karlo8093 when I do I will let you know
That Conecuh sausage is the best! I like it because it doesn’t swell up and taste rubbery when it’s cooked. That meal takes a while to cook if you do it right but it sure is worth it. In fact, I find it tastes even better the second and third and fourth day! She’s getting “hyper-spice syndrome”… 🤣😂🤣 (Just kidding Ruthie, you’re a trooper!!!) 👍🏻
I really like the Conecuh sausage! We buy it quite often. Good flavors, and simple ingredients. I understand why traditionally that was "wash day's" meal, as it does take some time to make. You're right though, it does tast better as a leftover. You can let it sit for 4 days later? That's impressive will power! 😉
i will take the rice but hold the beans lol
Not a fan, huh?
@ not particularly lol
Gotcha. I was a late comer to beans. Took a while to like them. Really enjoy them now though.
It was a really good dish. I hope you make this again!!!!!!
I will. It's good stuff!
Very nice spot! Cool history.
It's a pretty neat place. We wanna go back again and explore some more. Thanks for checking it out!
Awesome video
Thanks Dave!
eating good there
Thank you!
I like the pumpkins. Mom’s tomatoes and meat were of a “different” quality, and maybe she threw in some sugar or molasses or secret ingredient along the way. Important thing is she inspired you to make it, and it was good 👍🏻
She almost always makes a cute faced pumpkin and me an angry faced one. No reason, just turns out that way. Mom does add sugar, usually brown, to anything with tomato. She says it cuts rhe acid down. It sure is tricky trying to duplicate somebody elses stuff. Lemme tell ya. Thanks for watching Chris!
Good job Karl but remember NOONE makes good like mom or grandma. Even though there is a recipe I think they always a little something extra that was never put in the recipe just so we couldn’t copy it exactly lol. God Bless brother!
Oh I am sure that's the case here too. She had a certain flavor profile she was looking for. Gave it a good try I think. Was still a good pot of chili 😁 Thanks for stopping by John!
Karl, as much as I hate to say it. It will never taste like your Mom's recipe. It just won't. I have tried to make my mom's & gramma's recipes, copied them exactly, and there is always something missing. Maybe it's the hot pepper you used, or type of steak used. Or the actual amounts of everything. But you gave it an awesome try.
Thanks Cheeze! It was good, but not the same at all. Still was a lot of fun giving it a go.
I just tried my Colman oven first time corn bread and wife made chili Sunday night I need practice on the oven but stove was a freebee along the curb other than the fuel
They're fun to work with. Gotta get out and play with them though, there is a learning curve for sure on them.
Slick tripod never used Dutch oven on one. Very nice going traditional with Mom's recipe.
It was a lot of fun to do. Thanks for stopping by!
It was a really yummy chili. I loved carving pumpkins with you!! And you are THE fire meister😊
Was such a fun day. We had a good time 🥰
Looked good to me! All you were missing was either, a pan of cornbread or some Frito's and cheese.
Both would've went well with it, I agree. Thanks William! We'll see ya again soon.
