Yes - I have both human and AI generated audiobooks on this channel (and out and about at the retailers). They're both good for different things (and, in the case of the full cast editions, the sheer cost to get enough voice actors in a studio makes it untenable to avoid AI).

The AI often leans that way - it's difficult, though getting easier, to get appropriate emotional dialogue with these systems, which is why I get them narrated by professionals as well. Some folks prefer the straight monotone read, though!
The high priest's voice is so quiet i had to turn on subtitles and read when he spoke. Even with the volume all the way up i struggled to make out what he was saying
Yeah - this was a problem with some of the voices in these earlier versions. I've been working to correct this in future editions, so hopefully you won't run into that issue in the future. Sorry for the difficulties, but I hope you're still able to enjoy the story!

Hah - can it be both? Usually I do AI editions for this channel before the professional narrations come out. This series is planned for narration next year, so not too far off.

Weird to have the narrator interjecting ‘puck said’ or ‘viola said’ when the characters already have different voices that identify who the dialogue belongs to. Makes the listening experience uncomfortable. Had to give up after a few minutes. Hoping someone can review if this is a valid concern, and if so try to do this differently.
Interesting point, and one I've debated either way in making these full cast editions. Are the voices distinct enough that listeners remember who they belong to without the dialogue tags, or do folks needs the reminder? I'll also add that this series, and this book in particular, has more dialogue tags in general because of the large cast (and scenes where many characters are often present). All that said, I'll create a poll on this channel and ask whether folks prefer keeping the tags in on full cast editions or stripping them out to make them more like an audio drama. Hah, ich wünschte. Selbst wenn ich für diese Geschichten einen KI-Reader verwende, gibt es keinen, der die Kommentare für mich beantwortet. Außerdem macht das zusammen mit dem Schreiben der Geschichten den Spaß.

Yeah - it's a tough balance, because the better AI voices have the worst ability to control pronunciation. Which is why I get all my stories professionally narrated too - the full cast AI versions are fun, but have their faults. Glad you loved the story!
Yeesh, I get the cost of paying a narrator, but AI anything just takes away from the work.
And that's a fair opinion! All of these are getting professionally narrated (the first three books in the Seven Isles series are already out). The AI stuff is for fun and lets me see which books would do well in audio (all the ad revenue on this channel just goes to paying for narrated editions).

Oh sure - the first 3 books in this series are narrated and available everywhere (audible, spotify, google, apple, kobo, etc.). The whole series will probably be done by early next year if you prefer waiting for the complete collection.

Großartige Story jenseits des Standardimperialismus vieler anderer Geschichten. Da liegen Welten zwischen. Sehr kreativ. Ich habe die Fehlstimmen für ein künstlerisches Mittel gehalten. positronische Verzerrungen in einer Welt zerfallender Maschinen. Eine Endzeit der Roboter und KIs mit der Hoffnung auf einen Neuanfang einer menschlichen Zivilisation, die längst ausgestorben ist.

Bei den Stimmen handelt es sich nicht wirklich um eine künstlerische Entscheidung, sondern um eine Budgetrealität, da ich nach professionellen Synchronsprechern suche. Geld. Die Beauftragung eines Erzählers kostet für jedes Buch mehrere tausend Euro. Deshalb mache ich diese Versionen. Wenn sie auf TH-cam gut abschneiden, dann weiß ich, dass es sich lohnt, in einen professionellen Erzähler zu investieren.
