Turkey 2024 - Cappadocia: Land of Fairy Chimneys, Caves, and Hot Air Balloons
2-Day, 1-Night Adventure from Istanbul to Cappadocia
Day 1: Captivating Landscapes and Cultural Wonders
The adventure began with an early morning flight from Istanbul to Cappadocia, where the region’s surreal landscapes greeted us in all their glory. Our first stop was the Göreme Open-Air Museum, a treasure trove of rock-hewn churches adorned with vivid frescoes.
We then enjoyed panoramic views of Uçhisar Castle, a majestic rock fortress that towers over the area. Next, we explored the otherworldly rock formations of Paşabağ (Monks Valley), where the iconic fairy chimneys stood in all their splendor. The day concluded with a delightful dinner featuring Cappadocia’s signature kebab testi, a flavorful dish cooked and served in a sealed clay pot.
Day 2: Underground Mysteries and Scenic Wonders
The second day began early with the magical experience of watching the hot air balloons launch, a colorful spectacle filling the sky as the sun rose over Cappadocia.
Next, we soaked in the breathtaking views at the Göreme Panorama, a perfect spot to admire the region’s unique terrain. Later, we ventured into the fascinating Kaymaklı Underground City, a sprawling network of tunnels and chambers once used as a refuge by ancient civilizations.
Afterward, we made a brief stop at the picturesque Pigeon Valley, known for its dovecotes carved into the cliffs. Finally, we embarked on a short hike in the Red Valley, where the fiery hues of the landscape created a mesmerizing experience.
As the trip came to an end, we departed for the airport, returning to Istanbul with unforgettable memories of Cappadocia’s enchanting beauty.

I’m planning to visit Nikko this Nov. From your experience, which day will you recommend me to visit there at its peak? 4-6, 11-13 or 18-29 nov? Thanks :))
Each year is difference It is hard to predict, but we were there around middle of nov 2023. It did not peak at that time.

@@puccapicca126 help to answer nikko was divided into 3 part and each of them reach peak colour in a different date yumoto onsen (which is the highest altitude). reach peak autumn about mid-late oct chuzenji lake (there is a lake and kegon waterfall). reach peak autumn about early-mid nov Nikko town (toshogu shrien, shinkyo bridge). reach peak autumn about mid-late nov but because of the bad bad global warming, so the peak autumn foliage is hard to predict. following the first autumn foliage report this year (which was realeased early sept), this year's autumn foliage predicted will be about 10-12 days later than usual. i am also planing to go to nikko around 4 or 5th of november. i think we still can have red leaves althought it is not reaching peak

This may be a silly question - I have a great recipe for sourdough ciabatta buns however they always come out flattish. Do you think this pan would help that?
I am not sure, but you can try to bake the cibatta in the pan with lid on for a while then lid off as I baked the baguette to see if it is better

I have that EH baker and made mini baguettes, yeast using a Poolish. I do bake sourdough breads also. It would have been nice if you gave quantities and your process as I like to compare. I’ve have this baker and other EH bakers, including the Ciabatta baker.
