Clock's out of beat...definitely needs adjustment and possibly cleaning

I bought one at and estate sale. The top came loose and needs re glued. But it also doesn't spin. It lights up for a few seconds then goes off. The music plays but nothing else. I tried all the trouble shooting tips no luck.

Can I have it please?

Nice video. The actual set # is 6-1577. There’s also a 3rd boxcar to the the set #9759, the Paul Revere Boxcar. You can find that easily on EBay. Then you’ll have the complete set.

Does not have the specification of a "regulator", e.g. is not weight driven, does not have a metre long "seconds beating" pendulum or means of reducing the effects of temperature changes on pendulum length. Regulator was a term used by makers to promote sales and Seth Thomas were far from unique in this

I've been doing a search on this particular Ansonia model, but it has been really really hard to get detailed information without have to subscribe, and pay money. I JUST got one that looks almost identical to this. However, they said it is circa 1910. I'm guessing because they are not sure and that is a safe bet? The only thing that is different on the one I got is the face. It is claimed to be the the 4" dial and is quite ornate. No markings on it. It does have the same makers mark on the inner workings thou. Ok...my question to you is are you knowledgeable about these? If so, and you can help...that would be so great! Thank you and BTW, really like your clock videos :)

Nice clock, I purchased one similar to yours today at an Antique store. Bought it for $37, tinkered with it and got it running. Keeps good time and runs great.

I believe your hammer isn't supposed to rest on the bell. It's muted the chime

i have one with the same movement and gong :) the case is pine finished in a hazelnut brown and glazed over with some high gloss varnish to protect the wood and personalize it.

Greetings ~ I became utterly enchanted w/ ALL of these marvelous, old Connecticut clocks a good many years ago...I began this, my particular passion; w/ the complete restoration of the Families vintage Sessions "Berkely" model, 8-day "Time & Strike" (Tambour) that soothed & entertained us as we grew up, the time-dependable sentinel it was - as it sat over the front l. room fireplace of the c. 1754 cape up on the coast of Dear Old Maine. Next, I managed to acquire a singularly fine c. 1892 Waterbury "Huntley" "Kitchen-Parlor" clock... (And, I do suspect that this 'Ol Gal IS "Haunted.") Not a long while ago; I was finally able to bargain for a real "Charmer" of which I have assumed guardianship: a c. 1870s Waterbury "Cottage Clock, timepiece, only. It's a beautiful thing in it's simplicity! Case, and keeps very accurate time.Now, my dream is to somehow acquire one of these; a weight-driven, mid-19th c. 30 hour; such as your fine example here. Wanting a Seth Thomas, too. Thank you for taking the time & efforts to share this w/ the rest of us. Really appreciated this night coming across this after another very difficult day. Should I become "Rich" between right now & tomorrow's morning? I will purchase this, provide it the best-ever home, too!Best Wishes; ~D.S.

Nice looking clock Diane! You may want to adjust that first hammer up a little (1/8 inch) from the the chime bar and it will sound alot better?

We sold this April 2014 for $140.

How much is this sign worth if you dont mind me asking?

I have a question! I just got one of these secondhand, but how exactly does it play? Do you have to wind it, or does it simply play..by picking it up as you showed..? Or does it have to be full?
