21st Century Speaking: Power Toward Every Goal
What is powerful speaking? Citizen or student, business-person or teacher, politician or pundit--three powers converge in speech that moves us. A scientist's loyalty to facts everybody can see; a scholar's seasoned wealth of ways to see them; and, a poet's skills with language and the body. It brings truth into our midst, whose answer is action.
You have this within you. Whatever your goal, it's time to unlock and unleash the dimensions and rhythms of your unique music. Music, the world finds hardest to resist.
Nature gives each being a voice. What you develop in yourself becomes your message. Bring those together, and your speech makes things happen. For power is the sum of all the resources you can apply toward your goals: its proof is your results.
Yet people fear public speaking more than death. A speaking disaster seems like a social death: being judged as incompetent in the subject and/or its delivery. In contrast, we know a first-rate speaking event by its magnitude--the burdens, challenges and risks taken on, and the speaker's level of success in direct spite of them. Even in grave situations, a great speaker's homework and practice turn their confidence into achievement--into substance with style. They're at play.
That's where we want to go. The way you speak either helps or holds you back--in business, education, and social life.

Wish I had seen this work you did 8 years ago. My Dad was in the 465th, same time Red was in Pantanilla. Wonder if they knew each other. Dad was a radio operator/gunner . Adelard G Cayer, Rumford Maine. God Bless the greatest generation!

This is a wonderful series of videos with Red. My wife Lisa Eudaily, is Red's niece. I got to meet Red about 8-9 years ago briefly in San Jose, Illinois. What an honorable gentleman he was. RIP Red, and thank you for your service. Thanks to everyone involved in the production of this interview video.

Thanks so much for watching and writing: so glad that Red's warm heart, courage and incredible story are coming through. "An honorable gentleman"---you nailed it. Spent 3 days with him and wonderful daughter Jeanie to get this done (he and my Dad were original crewmates), will never forget it. He saw my Dad in me and that was something. Much more to enjoy about these guys at ancientlights.org/fifteenth.html. Very best wishes to all Red's family!

this was great, I am from Rhode island and the wampanoag and Naraganssett tribes have for sure left their mark. In the forests, the woods, swamps, fields, and all around the bay. The Spirit has never left.

I have the highest respect for Iron River and regret that you feel that way. We worked with those who could/would work with us that day, and many (if without full traditional understanding) found Wolf Tail a good strong drum. We hope that maybe in May 2014, it will be Iron River's voice at Merrymount in Quincy MA.

Greetings, Jack! This is Justin N, from your Speaking course at Bentley. Just back from my company's Sales Kickoff in NC, which culminated with a product demo contest. Each sales pro gave a 15m pitch to our Execs and peers. Proud to report I was selected as one contest winner for a $1,000 prize. So, I thank you for all your help. When you explain to students how every tool you teach will be applied in their pro careers, have even more confidence and pride that you are 100% accurate. Thanks!
