Train Crash sequence.

This is a sequence from a french film in 1946. I believe this a real crash staged for the film. I guess in 1946 plenty of stuff left over from the war so no need for any models.

Echoes of Mr Cholmondley Warner.
Charming scenes from a bygone age. No longer any trains. However, a newly built steam locomotive arrived at Southwold not long ago. So, there is still hope.
I wonder what poor buggers had to put all that back on
This was 2 days after my 14th birthday and i was in an arcade on southend seafront playing a fruit machine. I was onto a winner and could hear Voncord outside bit didnt want to leave the fruity and lose my money.....completely missed a once in a lifetime opportunity 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️😆
Great film. Can never find much historical material on dvd fromLiverpool Street into East Anglia. Used to travel from Chadwell Heath during the 1970's when l started works so travelled on the class 306 units . Really loved those trains
Such a shame the line closed, if the copper mine had re-opened after the creamery closed then perhaps the LMS would have shown more interest. Or perhaps if the line had instead extended to Hartington and the LNWR station to then build a mineral extension to the Cromford & High Peak, alongside the Friden Brickworks then maybe they'd find enough lucrative traffic to keep even just goods services until the mid-to late fifties, then allowing preservationists to move in soon after
Good film for engine enthusiasts as ex br firemen I enjoyed it for nostalgia
A beautiful valley. I'm from the area but at places you could be in Switzerland or Austria. Climb up to Thor's Cave and you will see what I mean. You can walk or cycle it these days. Just do it. You won't be disappointed.
I liked how he said the men who flew the mission were the ones to thank and not him
Remarkable footage.

My Grandad and my Uncles all worked there with them all starting as apprentices and only when it shut down in the 1960s when I was a small child did they have to find other employers
Everyone please report this; it is stolen content from another creator.
Great Video I remember it well thanks
Barnes Wallis,,,, not Wallace....!
Wonderful documentation of admirable engineering and manufacture. All aspects were covered except the lads down the paint shop.
Beaching was a traitor to everything sustainable. We’ve been robbed by these Tory bastards since they ever started getting control.
One day the true loss of our cultural heritage will be realised, and then regretted. Quite rightly so.
Thank you for showing this
I was a tool maker apprentice at Metro Cammell in Saltley Birmingham 1956/62 and was involved in the building of the Blue Pullman.
Thanks for this, grew up in east London then Essex through the 70’s & 80’s so this really resonates 🙏🏽
Excellent, very interesting, thanks
Accident 1969..G-AVjZ. Aquaplane...
Great footage and good to hear the Caley is reopening.
A marvellous insight in to East England railway history
Whose the narrator?
That was just wonderful... No wonder steam traction was phased out those locomotives are so labour intensive but such a wonderful sight 👍 28:12
I remember using one canteen when they just used microwaves 1977 and asking for a Welsh rabbit toast meal when I got it it looked like "the swamp creature".
LOOK AT ALL THAT SKY!!!
Quite a shock seeing one self from the 1960s. The film of the Britannia's at Chelmsford is from the film Britannia at Chelmsford by Michael Ham. I assisted being a close friend of Mike and my parents knowing the Station Master, a Mr Rowlands and bg a close friend. The Brit talking water caught us out, as this was most unusual. This was not the only railway film we made. See also Chalford Turnround
21:16 Oi that’s not the way to put a cork in screw it don’t bang it 24:39 where is that cleaner 25:17 don’t do that
@ 48-46....were they all hoping to get on that special train? And how ridiculous it was a dirty old diesel DMU....should have laid on a steam loco.
That was a huge marshaling yard at Whitemoor. The workers were rightly proud of it. Little did they know it would become a category A prison just a couple of decades later.
Greetings from USA. Great video. Informative, historical, enjoyable. Thank you.
And look at us now ,,,pitiful isn’t it couldn’t produce a bolt now sorry full we had it all then and fucked it up
I didnt realise that they had long welded rail in 1947!
I wish there are of more these films great to watch thanks
Brought back memories of watching that in Ashfield House... lol
Factory fodder.
Era before guided missile😂
“Bit of a nuisance, really …” - a phrase I am stealing and which I intend to use often. Another great film, thank you.
Sadly condemmed by British Rail's Not Invented Here attitudes.
He was a genius, despite his self-deprecation.
29.00 ......
Absolutely brilliant
They had no idea what they were destroying. How incredibly sad.
I love the random editing on the train from Lowestoft with water troughs and locations many miles away from East Anglia, and tunnels!
Yes, I only know of one tunnel on the route all the way from London to Norwich, including all East Anglian branches to Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, etc., and that's the one just south of Ipswich!!
@@ianmcclavinThere is also a tunnel at Newmarket.
One of the greatest inventions ever done by barns Wallis= England had the best brains in the work that was done in time of war god bless barns Wallis = his work helped towards in winning the war
It was a other world back then.
