Tests conducted to date have been with either water testing typically in gallon or 2-litre bottles or using homemade ballistic gel. The gel is mixed at a 9-1 ratio water to mix by weight using a 250 bloom pork skin gelatin. It is stored, transported and shot cold. Recently purchased bb gun to calibrate. Also recently got a Clear Ballistics block to compare against. I test with a heavy clothing, not full denim, barrier of 1 layer of denim 1 layer of fleece.and 2 cotton t-shirt layers to simulate more realistic clothing. I hope you find the testing, comparisons and data provided interesting

38 Special testing: Fort Scott Munitions TUI vs Norma NXD vs Golden Saber
Comparison testing of the 80 grain standard pressure Fort Scott Munitions TUI round versus the 80 grain standard pressure Norma NXD both through the 3" Taurus 605. Added the 125 grain +p Remington Golden Saber as a control to show a previous solid performer alongside these rounds. Do these non-expanding defensive rounds perform in this caliber? That's the real question here.

"As you can see, it did really good swirling damage up in here..." No, I can't see... your gel is over used and dirty. Get new gel.
Good video but I go to LUCKY GUNNER for all the ballistic tests for any caliber and any bullet you got.
I carry remmington 125gr htp +p in my edc,but been having trouble finding 125gr ammo to practice with...😮...frustrating... I dont want to just run plus p thru my gun more than i have to,so would be nice to find the exact or close to it to oractice with!! L8tly all i can find local for target shooting is the 50rd fmjfn magtech...and the 158gr...but ill keep looking😊. Great vid love the series
These are my number 2 edc rounds as of now. They do work well out of my charter arms undercover. Still have not found something to beat the remmington htp yet....still looking though😊 Great vid
That 125gr +p winchester personal protection ( white box) is awsome out of my charter arms undercover!!! I run them and remmington 125gr htp +p as my edc loads. Sometimes i throw in a plus p lswchp too😊 Love the vids Been looki g for these
See i get shit performance from these in my charter arms undercover...i mean even in plus p they do not do good at all! Have heard they do well in 357 and outta rifle...but i wouldn't use them as my edc round unless i had too 😮
I use the old 125gr remmington htp( green and gold box) + p and the winchester 125gr personal protection (white box) and 158gr lswchp in my charter arms undercover edc...i inherited it from my great grandfather and it was his backup duty weapon for almost 24years before that. ...ive always feltclike he would bot have left me that gun specifically, knowing id be carrying it, unless he trusted it....or secretly hated me😂😂😂 lol...but i doubt that. I have other tools, but that one checks the most boxes for my for about 85% of the time! Love the videos😊 Thank u
New sub. I been looking for a channel with good 38special test. So far only found 1 other. Thanks
Where can you find a 50rd box of that civil defense
FBI protocol lol the same fbi that can't make up their minds on what caliber is best guess what fbi you don't have to pick just one firearms are tools and you need the right tool for the job.
Somehow i missed this when you first posted this video. Probably the most extensive test I've seen of this projectile! Thank you for that! In your videos, others videos, and my own Clear Ballistics Gel tests, it is apparent this projectile meets the FBI minimum standard most of the time. In the cases it doesn't, (i.e. the projectile doesn't expand well or at all) it still does decent damage and does not overpenetrate. For a .380 projectile, I think it's in the top three Hollow Point options available.
...just watching you open this box made it worth the watch...I foound ONE box of this the other day at the show in Vero Beach, FL...paid 35 bux...
Your 605 is a 357, so no, you wouldn't be worried about it
Like Buffalo Bore
The recoil & muzzle blast were the most ever, in 38 +p, I've ever shot. Those specs, if accurate, are 357 specs. I'm not gonna blow my gun up, just because. I'll use em in my GP-100 6 inch
Great testing.👍
Not bad for dirt cheap ammo. Edit: For the price, I'd stockpile it and use it at the range.
I carry the 110 Hornady critical defense round in my 38cal and it does a great job
Nice Job
Punch did great here and in Gun Sam's from longer EZ looks good to me
Nice job. Do you have 44 Magnum? If so let's see what the Barnes in 44 Magnum does
Glad I watched this because I just ordered a box of 20. My Charter has a 3-inch barrel.
They loaded this ammo way too hot for that projectile. They are not supposed to fragment like that.
The IQ must be real low.
FYI folks, holes still hurt. Blood can leak out of a small hole just as easy as a big one. Either way it’s going to hurt.
Bummer the the round didn't open-up ... I was hoping the Fiocchi 380 would be a good carry round for my soon to arrive S&W Bodyguard 2.0
Looks to be a good carry round for my soon to arrive S&W Bodyguard 2.0 (short barrel)
That's my favorite carry round.
So basically the Federal Punch and these performed the same...
I think the HST did just fine you don't want it go through everything like the T-series seem to. I'll stick with HST it does all need it. it goes in deep enough for any that it needs to be use on. VOTE TRUMP 2024 AND VOTE EARLY
Good review 👍
Seems like many rounds that are failures in a 2” perform properly in a 3”. Time for me to trade?
So the sinter fire is not over penetrating?
Why did they stop making the 147 +p? It was the best performing 9mm round out there.
Unfortunately not good enough for winter carry. If someone is layered up, hoody, jacket, shirt ect, no way that round is making anywhere near 12 inches.
Lead is hard cast . Not moving fast enough. Buffalo Bore is soft lead. Work great. Both rounds are good general propose rounds.
I prefer Magtech JHP over Sellier and Bellot, Blazer or Federal, all of them are hotter. I brought my 380's for less recoil and the "ligher" Magtech round provides for even less recoil in my 380, even in my snappy Bodyguard. Who cares if it doesn't expand and is not hotter, light recoil means I get all shots on target. Most 380's except for my Security-380 and P365 380 are going to be about 7 rounds. I'm super confident, I can get all bullets center mass, if that doesn't stop someone, then I'm meant to get got. People trip me out talking about penetration, most any CCW self defense situations are going to be close range. Magtech is cheap, so you can train with it and be more proficient at shooting.
The cavity in the base of the bullet shifts the weight forward, making the bullet 'nose heavy' and less likely to keyhole.
You okay I miss your tests....and water jugs are fine did 3 tests today
lol just say eagle 😂
I've gotten boxes with brass casing, not the nickel plated casings.
This is exactly why I do not use Grizzly Ammunition. You don't know what it is loaded with unless you pull the bullets. A few months ago, I tried a box of the Grizzly .357 Magnum with a 200 grain lead SWC GAS CHECK. The ammunition was high quality and shot very well. Velocities from my 4.2" Ruger GP-100 averaged 1,250 fps. The ammo did everything it was advertised to do. The problem is, I recovered some of the bullets and found they had no gas checks. They were heeled bullets, intended for gas checks, but no gas checks were installed. I contacted the company via e-mail, asking what's the deal. The have never responded. Whatever is printed on the box should be what is in the box. Grizzly, apparently, will load whatever components they have on hand.
Did you pull any bullets...gas checks don't always remain intact after being fired?
@@Master...deBater No. But I fired these into dry sand, and into a stack of dry newspapers from just about a foot away and pointing downward. There was no place else for the gas checks to go. I assure you, there were no gas checks. If they had been there, I would have found them. I had the same idea. "Maybe they came off". They didn't. I emailed Grizzly about this. They never responded. I watched another video with someone testing Grizzly 158 grain .357 Magnum ammunition. The velocities were higher than could be obtained with 158 grain bullets. The youtuber pulled some of the bullets and found them to be 125 grainers. Grizzly Ammunition cannot be trusted.
Good test. I find it fascinating that the Punch performed so well. The velocity you got, was similar to other TH-camrs who tested it in clear gel out of 2" snub's where it mostly failed to expand after hitting the denim. Yet here, with what looks like actual ordinance gel, it performed as designed. Again I note that, the velocity you called out, was similar to velocities Gun Sam and Tools&Targets and other TH-camrs got out of Snub's. I am wondering if clear gel is putting .38spc rounds at a disadvantage because that is a stark difference in performance. Great test and keep up the good work.
I Carry with this ammo . it is excellent
The average male chest is 11.47" "thick." Therefore IMO setting 12" as the ideal penetration standard is a tradeoff with an array of probabilities. The FBI standard was sort of based on the worst case... shooting through the right side to hit the heart. Obviously there are a wide variety of tissues: bone, cartilages, muscle, blood vessels, organs, etc. Generally. the brain and the heart are lethal shots. Some others are leaks leading to significant blood loss. Since the brain is protected by bone, the better choice might be through the nose/eyes to hit the brain. There are targets that show all the organs, etc. Therefore the ideal training would be with those versus the traditional bullseye, etc. Realizing no matter where you get hit, it's going to hurt.
The average male chest is 11.47” thick. There are a variety of tissues in the chest (cartilage, muscle, organs, blood vessels, etc.). Short of hitting the heart or brain, we’re basically leaking people to death.
I only carry 380 in the summer. No one is wearing 4 layers of denim when it's 90 degrees outside.
Thank you sir 🙏
What was the recoil like?
Comparable to weaker 115 grain range ammo such as blazer and magtech
I got some of that Fort Scott TUI ammo, and I'm thinking I may just use wadcutter ammo. I'm using a 2 inch barrel, so I don't trust hollow-points to expand. I'll probably go with Underwood hard cast wadcutter, if I can get my hands on some.
