Why would you even ask this question if you saw that I got 788 melee kills in this game? All of the elf's melee weapons can be made to work to their strengths. I may not be adept enough to showcase this myself, but I've seen more practiced players pull it off even with the Elven Axe that most would consider "garbage". It's a matter of individual skill, experience, and a mindset that isn't plagued by Meta-Rot. Dual Swords are particularly effective against hordes of light infantry. If you aren't having trouble with armored enemies because you range attack most if not all of them down, or you have teammates that are more effectively dealing with them, than Dual Swords are the way to go to combat hordes of unarmored enemies with their unique 50% increased crit chance on their light 3 and light 4 attacks that can help proc swift slaying more often and deal overall more damage.

Hagbane is incredibly powerful against hordes. In the right hands, a Waystalker with Hagbane can absolutely be a green circle hog and steal away every enemy on the map even from other veteran players. I'm not one to condone such fun stealing however. Just know Hagbane is very strong. With that being said, if you are playing on Legend, my favorite Shortbow breakpoint is 20% power vs Chaos and 20% power vs Infantry across the bow and Charm. Combined with Serrated Shots, you can one shot Chaos Infantry, and 2 shot Chaos Maulers. Practice shooting Storm Vermin in the head and you 2 shot them still as well. Shortbow takes practice, if you don't hit like, I would say, at least 80% of your shots, then yeah, you might feel like it's not doing enough damage cause you have to consistently hit most targets 2-3 times. But you can attack fast, and your accuracy is pinpoint when you aim with it, your movement doesn't get penalized and slowed down and your field of view doesn't zoom in and get warped like when using Longbow, so you can make super fast and accurate adjustments while aiming and firing and are able to kite with it. It's the most versatile bow in my opinion.

Using parry definitely takes practice, and on Shade can be incredibly strong. A lot of the game's mechanics and ways to play can require some different way of thinking that you may not have thought of before, and even after that, take some time practicing and getting used to. Sounds like you've got the right experience. With a Handmaiden on the team with this build, it's actually a huge meme mowing down hordes with light shield bash spams. Almost makes you feel like you're on a horse plowing through infantry in Total War Warhammer.

It really depends on how much use you’ll get out of crafting. It might be better to wait if you’re less experienced and not at or near the maximum power level. Any crafted gear will eventually become obsolete as you progress and get higher drops from chests, forcing you to swap weapons to keep up with the rising difficulty. Recrafting the same weapons repeatedly as your power level increases is possible, but those would be better resources spent perfecting items at the maximum power level. When I was brand new, I didn’t craft at all. But when I started over for PC years later, I crafted right away and stuck with the same weapons all the way to Legend difficulty because I was experienced enough to make it work; people still clowned me for using blues and greens tho lol. If you're struggling, I’d recommend rerolling properties and traits. Don’t aim for perfection; try something universally applicable, like attack speed. Crafting a fully regulated build can wait.

It can seem like a far off goal with a lot of stuff in between, and in some cases it just might be depending on how fast you are able to progress in difficulty, but try to constantly strive to get veteran (red) items at 300 item power. Anything less than that, is just part of your path to achieve such. You may have to start with some greens, and blues, and work your way slowly up to orange level items, eventually striving for just 300 power level items of any rarity, and then maybe 300 power level items consisting of all orange items, but after that you will break in 300 power red items. Don't stress yourself rerolling stats too much until you get to the red item level. You definitely can if you want to. Maybe you want a particular stat boost that can help you ever so slightly get the edge you need to win your next game, which is important. But those RNG rerolls and be quite the headache sometimes. So, something to keep in mind is, red items always reroll stats at the highest possible value, taking the headache out of those less than perfect numbers every other rarity of gear gives you when you craft and reroll them. I promise you that once you get a full set of red items on a career, and the ability to reroll them to whatever stats you would like, maybe even have multiple red items in your inventory to switch back and forth to for different builds and experimentation so you don't have to worry about the need to reroll anything, the game opens up entirely, and the possibilities of every weapon and talent combination on every career will start to jump out to you. The game becomes completely different at this level and is much more fun.

I'm not too adept at using Bolt Staff, but I'm not gonna say it's bad in any way. I have seen people utilize Bolt Staff on every Sienna Career to great effect. It can take a lot of practice getting the timing down for max power bolt shots in every situation throughout a game. It can leave you just as vulnerable as using the Crank Gun on Engineer. Practice learning how to instinctively dodge away from danger whilst wielding it and you can make great use of it doing chunks of damage to every enemy type.

Yeah, it's fantastic and fun, especially with her level 30 talent, Dissipating Rictus. I do more DPS with that build than any other one I run on her. Talking about it right now makes me want to hop on Vermintide.

If you want to do it yourself, start the mission on recruit difficulty and a get a feel for it, search every nook and cranny of the map. Use Battle wizard or Hand Maiden to complete the time sensitive challenges. Or wait until the fanatics that play do that sort of thing for you and release a guide on steam for you to read instead.

@@CataTide tysm I've noticed my bot is acting quite dumb. Can you explain the mod bot setup you used? Is it possible the default settings are causing this?

@@harunasawarut5141 I have no idea. I've been using the bot mod for years. I'll sometimes go without it and don't really notice any differences besides the bots chugging all the healing when they don't need to. I primarily use it to control how the bots use healing. If you are finding better results without it, than you should just play without it. I definitely recommend the quality of life mods that I have listed in the description though! They shouldn't do anything but improve your experience!

Peasant weapons. Nothing is better than the sword infused with the very power that the Lady of the Lake bestowed upon me when I sipped from the Holy Grail. In all seriousness, I don't like Mace and Sword too much, it is very strong I know, but I find Bretonnian Longsword to be more fun to play with.

That's a pretty big wall of text you're asking for. Just know that this build maximizes damage vs both races and provides defense in situations that matter. The power vs Chaos may be useless on this map in particular but the philosophy of using it as a general do everything build going into quickplay or on maps where both races are present is a more important factor. @@slightly9566 Virtue of the Penitent, the talent that gives you the strength potion quest? That entire row of talents is good, and depending on what flavor of play style you feel like doing, or want to pull off in a game, you can use any which one of them. Free strength potions throughout a mission are great sure, but quests that are giving your whole team free extra stats isn't to be taken lightly neither. Often, it can be that until you understand how those stats are able to greatly affect your play style, or save you in certain situations, the strength potions seem like the best choice. I do like to run Virtue of the Penitent with a monster slaying build I do on Grail Knight, combined with Concoction trait. Something else to consider is, you can pick up potions throughout a mission, and if you know precisely when to use them, you'll always have more than enough for any given situation in a normal game, making Virtue of Penitent redundant. There aren't any items you can pick up that give permanent 10-15% power or damage reduction, or extra attack speed, or bonus health regen, or additional CD regen, that affects your whole team, for the entire rest of the game.

I mean, I tested these things a few years ago, so I don't remember exactly but with the Staggering Force talent which adds 35% more stagger power, I was expecting the Greatsword to be able to generate more THP with the stagger talent similar to Bretonnian Longsword against hordes, but alas, it seemed like the THP that was being generated was calculating base weapon stagger power without the talent despite seeming like I was staggering hordes with greater effect. Even if it did provide greater THP on stagger, the on hit, as you said, combined with killing power is the superior talent to use in most cases.

The Vermintide Mod Framework lets you access whatever mods you have with the F4 key in game. Make sure you give the options a once over. If you are finding more success without the mod, then of course you should play without it. I've gone without the mod plenty of times and the base AI that Fatshark has is still pretty good. I personally like having control over the healing supplies a lot more though which is primarily why I use the mod in the first place.

The game is balanced around Legend difficulty so don't under appreciate your accomplishment of successfully completing it at that level. Everything after base Legend difficulty is EXTRA. And as long as you don't allow any ego to get in the way by trying to constantly soar to the infinite heights of difficulty that Vermintide is capable of, then you can find quite the fun and enjoyment out of Legend difficulty over and over again. Sounds like you got Ranger Veteran on lockdown. Hope you keep up the experimentation with him and find more fun ways to play!

You mean for the bot? I recommend watching this video I did on Mercenary explaining why I use the bot setup that I do: th-cam.com/video/Kt93whUL7kg/w-d-xo.html But basically because one of the biggest weaknesses of the bots is that they don't know how to properly use their weapons and fight, hence they don't know how to properly generate Temp HP in battles. And the bots can also be absolute damage sponges sometimes. You can stack all the damage reduction on them you want with careers such as Foot Knight or Iron Breaker but at some point they will go down if they don't know how to heal back the damage they are sustaining. By using careers that generate Temp HP on ability use such as Mercenary, Ranger Veteran, and Unchained, you can help the bots survive and push through certain fights where they otherwise would have fallen due to their clumsy A.I. The longer the bots are alive, the more help they will provide you throughout a mission, mostly with specials, as they can be the biggest threat to you as you play.

I only use 4 mods, mostly Quality of Life improvements. I use the Bot Improvements - Combat, Numeric UI, Crosshair Kill Confirmation, and Notice Key Pickup mods. All of which can be found on the first page in Steam Workshop in Top Rated All Time and can be used in the Official Realm. The Bot Improvement mod used to be Sanctioned but currently isn't for whatever reason. You can bypass this by checking the Auto-Disable Unsanctioned Mods in Official Realm checkbox in the mod menu and it should still load the mod up in Official Realm. I'm not sure if they're true but I've heard from some forum posts that not all the features are currently working properly, but it still gives you the option to manage healing items on the bots, which if it was the only thing that worked, would be more than enough in my opinion. I've been trying to do Necromancer but the particle effects for a couple builds I've been trying to do sometimes cause FPS drops while I record and I refuse to upload anything less than HD 60fps at max graphics. The gameplay isn't always perfect, but the graphic settings definitely have to be XD! I'll keep trying to get it to work and hopefully get a few games where there isn't too much stutter that I can upload.

Superior Gaskets is definitely a very good talent and it has its place amongst a variety of builds that you can construct, however, Perilous Overclock is much better if you wish to focus purely on the crank gun as your primary damage dealer and lessen the downtime between bursts of fire by replenishing your gauge. And if you are going to utilize the crank gun in such a manner as often as possible, taking Armor Piercing Slugs talent on the Lvl 10 line can effectively double your damage output in most situations as enemies line up. The bomb talents in that same row aren't going to provide you as much value if you plan on using the crank gun so aggressively. I don't think the crank gun pierces any enemies on its own without the talent.

Honestly, it's just straight up less utility than the Burnout talent which gives you a second ult for free. The tooltip says "Firewalk explosion radius and burn damage increased," which I believe only applies to the location that you firewalk to and not your starting location. The increased radius can definitely give you a slightly larger circle of breathing room to buy you like an extra half second than normal firewalk can if you decide to explode into a large group of enemies, but the utility of a second firewalk is probably just better in just about every situation. But Kaboom removes the fire trail, which means less special effects, which as I mentioned was my goal when I came up with this build in the first place, lol, meme over practicality XD

There is no denying that the executioner swords single target damage capability can outperform Bret Longsword. With that being said, I personally find the Bretonnian Longsword to be superior in more situations than the executioner sword. I think it offers you far better defensive capability with its riposte perk on holding heavy attacks, better stagger options and target acquisition through its diverse attack profiles, and better movement in between attacks. But at the end of the match, it is all largely subjective. Try them both, and use what you feel most comfortable with.

I mentioned in the video that I never see anyone fully commit to the crank gun like I've shown, and it is for good reason. It takes a lot of positioning knowledge accompanied by the ability to manage your HP bar without generating Temp HP. I run Natural Bond in this build which offsets some of the self damage Overclock does. The presence of the Bots with their AoE Temp HP abilities also mitigates a lot of damage as does the Sigmar Bubble, but even if you don't have those abilities aiding you in a public game with real people, you should still be able to accomplish this type of strategy by using your teammates to help peel for you better than any of the Bots can, giving you more time to generate ability bar, easing the stress of having to manage you sacrificing your HP with Overclock, and positioning yourself to deal maximum damage with your crank gun in a safe location not swarmed by hordes of enemies. Just try not to shoot through your teammates too often XD

@@CataTide Yeah it's pretty similar to running Drakegun, just better against a wider ranger of targets from further away. Drakegun is a lot less micro though and CCs the stuff closer to you a bit better. I probably should have done some warmups on Legend, my winrate with bots on Cata isn't great at the best of times, I find all it takes is the bots to get caught up on a chaos patrol or a spawn/stormfiend in a bad place and I'm suddenly on my own.

I'm guessing he clipped through the threshold of the doorway and went out of bounds after the barrel I threw near him exploded and staggered him. I'm not entirely sure though to be honest, when you slow the video down, it looks like he just ascends to the Great Horned Rat in the sky.

If you are already level 30 on Grail Knight and have access to all his talents, I would think 240 power should be enough to take on Champion, but be mindful that dragging along 3 other bots that have nothing equipped will definitely make it more challenging than it has to be. Consider experimenting with the other Heroes as well if you haven't already, since whatever gear and talents you equip on them while playing them, the bots will use and have equipped as well. It will make your runs significantly easier as you progress in difficulty solo. Use the bots to your advantage and set them up to help you in your victory. You may not be able to get all the gear in the builds I provide in the description, but try to set them up with at least some if not all the talents by leveling them to 30 as well. There is an option where you can choose which careers the bots use and what order you bring them in on the Hero Selection screen. There is also an option to select which build the bots will use specifically when you are in the items and talents menu. Hope this helps guide you a little bit.

It can definitely be a much harder fight with the AI because like you said, they follow you pretty closely, which deviates from when you play with real people and everyone can take a corner/side to smack the rat down, so naturally when you aren't beating down Rasknitt, a lot of adds and chaff spawn in and take up your attention and can attrition you and your bots down over time. It definitely takes some practice and patience and isn't a map I would recommend to anyone trying to break into Cataclysm difficulty for the first time. But you'll know if you feel ready for it. And if you can get a team of real people, it most certainly can make it a lot easier. Glad you enjoyed watching <3
