This is my unofficially named "Faulkner University/Alabama Christian College: from Dust to Digital" channel! I have just a very few things here that are not related to Faulkner/ACC, and I hope you enjoy those too!
Eddie & Suzanne Carter & Friends (June 24, 2023 - ACC Summer Reunion!)!
I apologize that I didn't quite get the entire concert (my phone was cacking out because of storage space issues!), so there are a couple of breaks. The players are Eddie Carter, Suzanne (Wright) Carter, Braden Pace, Mike Moody, and last but not least, Alan Kaye! Alan is a former coworker who has played many gigs at Faulkner, & I can't believe I finally got him on my channel! As I said in one of the captions, I think of this informally as an Alpha reunion! Hopefully, there will be more to come.

The officiating in this game was absolutely terrible!
@@shaynemercer8496 Are you a Duke or UK fan?
I was at that concert. Terry had recently broke his leg.
I used to have this album.
@@jimmybagwell3207 I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
I had the honor of meeting Joe b hall in like 2018. I do heating and air and me and my brother was at this guy's house it turned out was Joe b son in law. We're there working on the ac I go in the basement I see someone who I was like man that's Joe b hall. I go back outside and tell my brother he's like no way so we both go in and my brother was shocked. We talked to him and got pictures with him. I'll never forget that day in my life. Another cool story I was on call and had a service call and talked to a guy on the phone his ac was out in a rental house he had I go out fix the ac the lady said u do know who the owner is right, I said no she said it's al snow the former wrestler. I called him back to let him know I fixed the ac and I was a big fan of his and he was very gracious and called me the man for fixing the ac lol
@@chrisf963 Thanks for commenting! Those stories are great! This must have been in Louisville, correct? I know OVW is based there & Snow runs it, but I don’t watch “rasslin’” any more. Also, I remember years ago seeing an article where Joe B. was wearing a UL hat at a UL baseball or softball game. It was because his son in law or nephew/niece or grandkid or something played for the Cards. It was very ironic, and the reporter indicated he smiled & chuckled when asked about it, but he was supporting family! I wish I could have met Joe and gotten him to autograph my copy of the old book, “Big Blue Machine,” written by longtime UK SID Russell Rice.
Kentucky coach Joe B. Hall always walked around on the sideline holding a folded up game program
@@jeremywhitworth7299 Yes he did! That’s a great memory of his coaching days. Thanks for commenting!
That James Lee dunk at the end was perfect

So did everyone know that Magic was a superstar prodigy when he was 15 like Lebron, or was he a guy that exploded on the scene when he got to College?
@@mgers75 I’m not sure, but we had no ESPN or internet then. Granted, Lebron was on the cover of SI in high school too. Thanks for watching and commenting!
He was pretty highly regarded coming out of High School in 1977.
boo, posting Duke losing games is sadness, we really weren't even competitive in this one.
@@knight2000-NC Go Cats! Haha. Hey, look at it this way: this was the start of a GREAT inter-conference rivalry between UK and Duke. If you think this game was tough for Duke fans, try being me in 92 with the Laettner shot! Thanks for commenting!!!
@@patrickdaly5068 yes of course we loved the Laettner shot, I wasn't at Duke yet, I didn't start there til 94. Its Scotty Thurman whose knees I still want to break from that 94 championship game.. So its been done to us too, I understand the pain lol. I'm still salty about that one.
Why does the court have the IU logo? The game was played in St. Louis, MO at the Checkerdome. Did the Checkerdome import the court from IU?
@@MGAF688 Yes, they had to borrow a floor. I forget why, but I think the answer is out there on the interwebs somewhere.

@47:12.... TV announcers informs all watching that a call has been made to the arena "threatening the life" of GENE BANKS ( so called black player for duke). The good ole USA

Not seeing the 3 point line is so weird to me 😅
@@lordkiza8838 After all these years it IS weird! That’s especially the case with today’s offenses being so oriented to shooting the 3 thanks to Steph Curry and the Warriors. Kyle Macy would have eaten up the 3-point shot in college, not to mention Larry Bird. Mark Pope might have Kentucky shooting more treys than Pitino did back in the day. Thanks for commenting!
@@patrickdaly5068it’s just crazy they keep saying shoot in deep lol deep from where ???? Does it matter guess not 😂😂😂

Starshell/Will Ye Go To Flanders was one of my favorite things for years, but then my copy of it died. I haven't heard it for years. Thank you.
@@dsmdgold Absolutely, and thank you for commenting! I’m glad so many people are enjoying these Scartaglen recordings. If you haven’t yet, check out my other 2 Scartaglen cassette uploads (plus my upload of 1 song that I had accidentally cut off…on this album I think). They are a treasure in my book.
I first borrowed this vinyl album from my library's AV section in ... 1991, think. When I left for college, i made a cassette recording to take with me. The library sold all the contents of the AV section, but I was in Athens, GA at the time. My recorded tape finally died its true death around 2000. I won't go in to how much this album meant to me at an important time of my life, but I haven't listened to Connie Dover sing "Lucy Ashton's Song" in about 25 years, and hearing it today ... . I burst into tears. The good kind. So thank you for this upload.
You are most welcome! Thanks so much for the kind words, and it’s humbling to me that you found this and that it means so much to you. I’ve seen Connie Dover in concert twice and she is amazing. God bless.
Thank you sooo much for sharing this lost college basketball lore. I was born in 1978 and named after Kyle Macy 🏀. Also: PLEASE include the commercials! They are hilarious
Sadly, the DVD this came from didn’t have the commercials. I think there used to be a version out there that had them, but I’m not sure if that is still the case. I agree with you! This one also doesn’t have the pregame segment/banter with the announcers: Dick Enberg, Al McGuire, and Billy Packer. I wish it did!
This was the first time where naming rights on a arena were used. The Ralston Purina Company Checkerboard (Ralston Purina Company was headquartered in Saint Louis, Missouri).
I didn’t know that. Now they sell the naming rights to just about every stadium/arena.
@@patrickdaly5068 Yes! 🙋♂️

Few people I think realize Duke had gotten to the National title game a couple of years before Coach K got there.
I think you’re right!
Baby Bryant.
I don't know who you are but wanted to thank you for posting this. I was the RF for Faulkner #21. I can't find my DVD for this game so this is the only way I can go back and rewatch it. Just wanted to say thanks
You’re welcome! I’m just a Faulkner alum sharing the fun. How did you come across the video?
Mikep6979 is an idiot !
46 years later and Kentucky as only one 3 championships since then. Hard to believe. Go Cats!
I know, right!? We should be at least right there with UCLA.
24:27 Gene Banks took only 2 steps and his foot did not touch the endline. Awful call. 2 goaltending calls against Gminski were bogus. And the technical call on Bill Foster was a crime against humanity.
Yeah and Laettner stomped Timberlake and the chest but never got tossed out of the game. It goes both ways.
@@Michael-mt1zq and Duke had to play Kentucky AT Rupp in the S16 in 1980. Brutal game. they had little chance to rest before playing Purdue on Sunday morning. In the 1998 Elite 8 Duke was dominating KY before the lights went out and changed the momentum of the game. The Cats have had more than their fair share of luck. The same is true for UConn.
I agree with you. The refereeing is terrible here all the way around. Lots of ticky tack and just plain incorrect calls.
All hail Rick Robey, ha
And the rest of the 78 Cats and their “Karate defense!” (Thank you Dale Brown for that nickname…haha).
Anybody notice they are using Indiana court while the final is in St. Louis how does that happen?
Someone else asked that question on here, and the answer I think was that the Checkerdome floor as damaged or was going to be replaced and so they borrowed the one from Indy. I’m sure Hoosier fans and Bobby Knight hated that we won a natty on their court. Haha.
We loved you guys at Florida Bible Camp in 2011 summer! The 2011-2012 cornerstone needs to do a reunion show! Might I suggest my church 😎
Fouling out the greatest stars of college ball … so dumb
Back in the day where they actually called walks.
Billy Packer was so annoying.
Al McGuire kept him in check pretty well, though!
i was born in 1985 ...wow watching this with out 3 points line feels wired 😅😂. Go cats 💙🤍💪😺 .. BBN ... Love my wildcats !!...RIP joe b hall 💙🤍
It was a different game then. Kyle Macy would have been even more deadly with the 3 point line. Thanks for commenting! Go Cats!
Ken Norton was just named the WBC heavyweight champion. George Forman, "Hold my hamburger, I'll be back in a couple of minutes".
“Hold my grill!”
That whole situation with Norton wasn’t his fault. He beat Jimmy Young to become the #1 contender and then Spinks beat Ali. Spinks didn’t want to fight Norton so he could have a big money rematch with Ali. During negotiations for a Spinks Norton fight Norton was offered a ridiculously low purse of $200 000. He felt insulted by the offer but took it since it was as a title fight. The Spinks team expected him to reject the offer which meant a fight with Ali could happen with nothing in between. Since Norton took the offer they had to fight or vacate the WBC title. They chose to vacate the WBC title And the WBC retroactively made the Norton Young fight a title fight And awarded the title to Norton. Norton lost the title to Larry Holmes in his First title defense in June in a classic bout.
It's amazing how many teams lose a championship or a big game because they just can't get the easy shots to go in.

Not going to deny it however if you can find an interview with Bob Knight regarding John Wooden it would put the period in perspective.
What are you referring to? I thought at first you were replying to another comment.
Thanks was feeling nostalgic today. Now if I could find Full Access!
Is that the name of another Cornerstone tape or CD? If so, I haven’t come across that one. I would love to load it here if someone has it!
Came hear to remember this team since they're honoring them tomorrow at Rupp for the 40th anniversary! Thanks for the video...pretty good clarity (for the time)
I missed that they’ll be at Rupp tomorrow. I’ll definitely have to try to catch that! Thanks for commenting and for letting me know about them being honored. The credit for the clarity of the video goes to the person who shared it with me. Thanks again, and go Cats!
I’m guessing this game was played right before coverage of Super Bowl XVIII?
Yes, that is correct. UK used to play on SB Sunday quite a bit, several years in a row I think. I remember one year they played Oklahoma, and they won when Rex Chapman got a layup on a last second inbounds play from under the basket. Thanks for commenting!
That NBC pre-game. I watched this when I was a junior at another basketball-crazed Midwest university and wanted nothing more than to have a job like Bryant Gumbel's. Traveling around the country introducing college hoop tournament drama.
I thought he was a great sportscaster! I remember him doing their Sunday NFL pregame also. Thanks for commenting!
May favorite Cornerstone group of all time :)
Thanks for the comment Aaron, and I’m glad you’re enjoying the music! God bless.
What made this team unbeatable in the tournament was the guard play claytor and Macy kept their focus well definitely against Arkansas where they never faced such a great backcort before they were nice
The night the goose got loose!!!
💯, or should I say 41?!
Dwight Anderson came in 1979.
The Blur!
my redskins let me down in that superbowl they kept hyping. but later, in march, my hoyas stepped up big time. it's remarkable that georgetown actually beat both of these teams decisively to win the crown. michael graham, the best college player to never play one game in the nba.
My Bengals have let me down in 3 Super Bowls, and they were all close. It’s frustrating that they’ve never pulled one out. And yes, the Hoyas were beasts in that year. I still can’t believe how poorly UK played against them in that 2nd half. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hoyas beat them both 2 months later in the final four
Yes they did. I still can’t believe how poorly UK played in that 2nd half, but “them’s the breaks” as some say!
@@patrickdaly5068 christ i was watching that at a high school kegger as a 16 year old🤣. Think Kentucky was up four or five at the break? That bald headed Graham got a buncha dunks in the 2nd. Those were good days for basketball
