I think i know where tekken 8 got the heat system from 😅 No, but seriously, the only real difference between the two is that heat in tekken 8 doesn't pause the round timer. Also, rage arts from tekken 7 seem oddly similar to critical edges in soul calibur... wonder if there is a pattern here.

I was really watching these to get a handle on Soul Calibur as it doesn't seem to have any sort of tutorial, however I'm pleasantly surprised to find an explanation of the frame data jargon here as that was something I'd heard people call out watching guilty gear but hadn't yet went to find out what it meant

"[The number system] is a fairly common system used for fighting games." I have literally never seen it before in my life, and I've played so many fighting games! The only number system I have seen is the button inputs being referred to with numbers.

I know ill get some hate for this but why do SC players use numbers as directions 😅 cause in tekken its simply f,b,d,u (forward, back,down,up)

Great episode, it's always fun to learn more about OCE players and each episode you make leaves me with a drive to play and improve myself and my own position within the FGC. Also: one of my ~90yo clients used the word "Wowser" (pronounced the same as Wowzer at least) in a discussion recently and described it as a person who doesn't deviate from the norm and is opposed to bad habits such as gambling 🧐

Thank you thank you. The first part of the video with the numbers really help! I have been playing this game for awhile and never knew how to do the combos. But where is K at and G?

Question. The thing with the launchers and how you can't ukemi when hit with one unless you're hit with a follow up that spikes you to the ground. I'm finding a lot of things listed as launchers in the frame data that don't restrict wake up options. Setsuka's Shrouded Sky b, for example. Is there more too it? Are there different kinds of launchers (super high, grounders, or whatever) and some allow ukemi? I hope it's not random and there are specific properties that determine how you can wake up off launchers.

Of course you start with the BEST Soulcalibur song ever. Brings me back to SC2.

Any update regarding the next parts of this series? As someone who's been playing Calibur for a good while these guides are still extremely helpful and I'm learning a lot through them, so I do hope that the other parts are released soon! :)
