Relish in the Dog Days of Summer In this month’s Here in Redmond video, we visit with some of our tail-wagging, four-legged residents to learn about their love for our Luke McRedmond and Hartman Park pop-up dog parks. The spaces were created based on community need and developed into gathering places and connection points among dog owners.

    That looks like pure hell! And I hate when people talk but it's supposed to be the dog. Be ready for shit and piss everywhere and a lot of attacks. I don't understand the whole dog worship cult mentality

    I agree completely about the first speaker's concerns about the crossing of Redmond Way to the east of the freeway. I have tried on multiple occasions to contact city government about this to tell them it is an urgent safety issue, and I tried contacting Washington's DoT as well, since it's a highway off-ramp. But nobody seems interested in replying. I'm glad the first woman was there to speak. I'm also happy the light rail is coming soon - although I do disagree with her on Plymouth. Sadly, I am generally not able to attend council meetings due to work.

    Dog obsession and worship is a mental illness. All the barking, dog feces and urine in public places will be a huge nuisance and a toxic hazard. Please stop this.

    So glad Redmond created these enclosed parks. We've been taking our puppy there almost every day. It's a fantastic way for her to socialize with dog and human friends, alike. We've been using both parks, too.

    The stats quoted by the 16 year old speaker are very wrong. 99% of the residents will be drug addicts. 99% of them are on opioids. That facility will attract drug addicts and drug dealers. Your city will never look the same. And Redmond sat back and allowed 5 council members and the Mayor to do this. Hope Redmond wakes up.

    While it's a great-designed building, we need to realize that it's a multi-purpose community center that does not focus on seniors.

    "pro-Plymouth" crowd is arguing a strawman. Nobody in the room said that we don't need to help the homeless or that we don't need more housing. People are against reckless and inconsiderate decision to cede prime real estate to a luxury development that will provide free housing to drug addicts and sex offenders, won't guarantee housing for homeless who are actually from Redmond, and in the end will not make a difference with only 100 units. Redmond City Council is making a shady deal without public input. They forgot where their power comes from and who they are supposed to represent.

  • @RuslanKasymov

    Residents of Redmond should be heard. I am also not against helping homeless. But Plymouth Housing sounds like a very expensive wasteful effort on that.

    These leaders are too emotionally led in their decision making. They hear a personal success story from a homeless person housed by Plymouth Housing and they think the whole program is a success. We need statistics. In the last Plymouth housing project, what percentage and how many were addicts. How many among them recovered because of Plymouth Housing. How about a survey of the immediate neighborhood where Plymouth Housing exist? How many of them feel less safe as a result of Plymouth Housing.

    I wish there would have been public comment before giving away the property. Not providing the input prior to moving forward opened the door for so much of the mistrust. I hear lots of support and that simple step would have allowed better introduction of much needed PSH.

    36:16 Of course the audience needs to stay quiet, as the government's plan was to not allow any kind of discussion among the community due to an expectation that such discussion would lead to the project falling apart. Yes, laughing in the middle of a city council meeting is generally disrespectful, but I find it far more disrespectful that the city didn't make efforts to inform and seek out the opinion of its residents prior to their quick vote to accept a proposal another city had recently rejected.

    • @Dreamprism
      @Dreamprism 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      36:30 It would be nice if the public could do more than just listen to what you've already decided and could instead actually play a role in decisions. I'm not even against helping current residents of our community avoid homelessness. I just don't like how this proposal was pushed through withoit a genuine discussion on its merits or additional safeguards on how exactly it would work. It reminds me of the DNC who always want me to hear their messages but never provide me any means of actually speaking with them. (I'm a progressive Democrat, btw.)

    I stopped here about a half year ago and loved it! The owner was kind and very patient with me answering my questions about his exotic plants. The plants were gorgeous, but expensive for me. (I'm not a techie.) He wished for better parking, but once the nearby construction is finished many shoppers will walk to the business! In the meantime, you may find some parking on the side street next to Anderson Park. I love this shop! Will definitely revisit!
