    Most coaches are terrible, this is one of them... This guy has so much potential to become a scratch golfer (if his short game is good), with this coach, he will keep on struggling, and he will come back and pay money for the rest of his life... I could make him swing well in a few sessions, but then he didn't need to come back, as he could keep improving himself.... And this is the truth!

      @dannymalcolmgolf I have already been reaping the Benefits Danny, because I have been watching your channel for some time now and employing these feels and my shots are flying on a more penetrating trajectory (instead of high and weak) and I am not only hitting fairways (I play mainly irons off the tees because the course I live on promotes even great drives to roll into the trees) but my pattern dispersion between, say three or four practice shots sometimes could fit under a large tarp (5 iron).

  • @drumcatnau

    Why would you emphasise tip 3 versus not rolling over, if it promotes a draw? Xander and Hojgaard don't turn it over until the ball is well gone and they're almost parallel post-impact?

    • @dannymalcolmgolf

      Most (not all) everyday golfers that I see on a daily basis struggle with the release, trying to steer the ball, losing distance and typically big slices, and therefore need more of point no.3

    • @dannymalcolmgolf

      Yes. However if you just go all lower body, it's easy for the upper body to have too much right side bend (resulting in ground contact too early). If you're working with irons in particular, be sure to have your lower and upper shifting toward the target in the downswing. Hard to say exactly what is needed without seeing your golf swing, but I hope that helps as a starting point. Danny

    I found that I can hit my driver down the middle ( average carry only 175 yds ) by " feeling " like I drop the club behind me and taking an easy, steering type swing , but as soon as I try to add a bit more swing speed , I hit a big slice....please help ....thanks much

    • @dannymalcolmgolf

      Hey Gary, thank you for your comment. That makes sense. Typically adding in hard rotation (body pivot) in the downswing, is a steepening move. I.e. hand path will work more out toward the ball and the shaft pitch may get steeper. Both of which will encourage a more out to in swing path. It sounds like reducing the rotation as you lower the hands and arms is something that may help. Next step will be matching up/closing the clubface. I hope that helps. Danny

    • @dannymalcolmgolf

      Hi Bruce! Thank you for your kind feedback. To reduce spin, you need to reduce spin loft and speed. To increase spin, increase spin loft and increase speed. Gear effect will also play a part in spin rates as discussed in the video. I hope it helps 👍

    • @dannymalcolmgolf

      Spin loft is the three-dimensional angle between the direction the club head is moving (both club path and attack angle) and the direction the club face is pointing (both face angle and dynamic loft)

      Hi Harley. Firstly, it's so awesome to hear that you're getting back in to golf. Secondly, for full swings, the release will be roughly around P6 (final shaft parallel), as the butt of the club slows down, moving in and up, allowing for delivery of maximum club head speed at the impact interval. All the best in your journey back in the game! 👍

    Danny, are the shoulders open, square or closed at impact? I ask because if closed at impact, isn’t there a chance you can hit the ground on the downswing, plus it feels more natural to have the hips open and the body slightly open too? Your thoughts and advice.

    • @dannymalcolmgolf

      Great question, Robert. For a slicer who typically opens up the body too soon, a good idea is to "feel" the shoulders closed, or back to the target for longer. Of course, this can be overdone, like anything, and if you also add in too much side bend, with lowering of the arms there's a good chance you'll drop the low point too far back, and hit the ground before the ball. I hope that helps.

    I use the furthest bay on the left at the range and there still isn't enough room to keep my ball in bounds 😅

      Actually, using the left side of the range is a great idea if you're trying to stop a slice, as it enables you to "swing out" toward the open area of the range (for the right hander). You just have to make sure you close your clubface to the path! A tip I was given by a top England coach when I was an amateur. I hope it helps!

    great drill...seems my toe is up on downswing...are you shutting face when you rotate?

    • @dannymalcolmgolf

      Hey Tim. The face will always be closing relative to the arc in which it swings coming in to impact. Some players are a little more "toe up at P6 - delivery club parallel to ground" and some are a little more toe down, depending on match ups/ball flight preferences. Somewhere close to matching spine angle would be a good check point.

    In my case face control was never ending until I fixed my swing path. After fixing swing path face control was almost automatic.

      Hey Rick! Yep, it can sometimes be a case of fixing the path first. It's different for everyone. In my experience, the face has generally been the go to initially, for a greater majority. Thanks for watching 👍

    Hey Danny, would you need to adjust lofts if blending 245 and 243? Or would the tech difference in the heads do the job for you as far as gapping is concerned?

    Just drop your hands. It can take sometime to get use to it but it really helps you to slow down.

    • @dannymalcolmgolf

      Basically, yep! It's all about finding the right match up. If the backswing has the hands very high, then the golfer will typically need more "dropping" of the hands early in the downswing. Conversely, if the hands are deeper at the top of the backswing, the player may benefit from a more "outward" hand path. Both can work beautifully when matched up.

    Absolutely right I just lost 18 months battling out to in path after being coached to aggressively spin my hips, disastrous advice.

      Hey Stu, thanks for your comment. I hope you're on your way to finding the right match up for you with regards to your hips. Some players certainly could do with more hip rotation, this video is not to say it's not important. Just that I see a lot of golfers over doing it. It's all about finding the right amount for each golfer. Thanks for watching!
