    Well, talking about Radio Shack making a comeback ? Their chances are very very slim.

    Radio Shack went under thanks to extremely poor management. The owners of the company had no idea what they were doing and really didn't care. What's left of Radio Shack was bought out by a company outside the U.S. . They have a website that says it's under construction and it's been that way for two years now. The chances of Radio Shack coming back are slim to none. The ONLY thing they MIGHT be able to do is hire someone that knows how to build websites to fix the sorry excuse for what they have posted at this time. But, wait another four of five years and we'll see what happens with that.

    The Geek Squad started in the 1990s as an independent computer repair service compsny in Minnesota before Best Buy, a formidable Radio Shack competitor, acquired the Geek Squad in a 2002 company merger.

    Thank you friend. I worked at RadioShack from 1985 till 2001, and saw much of the decline. I even still have some of my stock certificates, which are of course worthless. I have to credit them for teaching me all about electronics and helping customers. I do that now on my own as a technology consultant.

    Whoa, this video clarified a lot about what transpired with RadioShack. That kind of hardship for such a well-known brand is heartbreaking. I grew up with RadioShack, thus it played a huge role in my technological development. I appreciate you bringing back those lovely memories. I appreciate the introduction.

    genuinely had no idea how old RadioShack was! definitely wasn't expecting to hear it was in the 1930s! this was personally really intriguing to learn about because my grandpa was an expert in building his own radios and maintaining professional scale systems, which inspired my dad's lifelong love of amateur/HAM radios. I'm a total newb, so I'm not exactly sure what specific type of equipment my grandpa was working with, but definitely ones capable of large scale communications, as he was the manager (and quite literally the only person in his department) for radio systems maintenance and repairs for a police department in Michigan after coming back from serving in WWII, so in the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s. I bet he was a pretty frequent customer of their distribution parts in the early days :) very cool to learn about how innovative it was for RadioShack to make communications equipment much more accessible to businesses and the general public at large - it's easy to forget how groundbreaking it was to have such ease in being able to directly contact/purchase from manufacturers through an all-inclusive catalogue, especially in today's world when everything is pretty much accessible with just a few clicks. thanks for sharing!

      Man what a story! That's actually really cool that you are able to connect your families history with this business! Even though RadioShack is not really a thing anymore, I think its safe to say that RadioShack walked so all of these other big tech companies could run!

    I was lucky enough to catch the tail end of the Radioshack boom. It was the place to go for buying anything tech/electronic. The stores were fairly small but I loved them so much I could spend hours there. Nothing was cooler than building your own radio and making that first conversation with another enthusiast miles away. This is a stellar video and I have learned a lot about how Tandy developed radio shack. I actually own an old Radioshack Tandy TRS-80 computer. Works like a dream.

    RadioShack had a high sales concentration coming from cellphones, which accounted for over 50% of the total sales and generated poor profit margins. The company frequently changed its management and direction for the turnaround. In addition, RadioShack made a financial mistake by taking a loan from Salus Capital in 2013 that required the lender to close no more than 200 stores a year.

    wow, the algorithm hit me with this and i was watching a big youtuber, radio shack was my introduction into electronics and its very nostalgic as i used to watch `make` and kipkay, benheck etc when i was younger and wanted the to make his `make` partnered diy kits that used to be sold there, i then went on to make stuff with Arduinos (purchased at radioshack) and eventually i got more broader programming. Now im in college for cyber security and digital forensics. so in the way, RadioShack is responsible for my passion in electronics and computers. good work on the quality of this video!

    Ah yes, I dated someone who did amateur radio. They had to keep it very DL cuz it was uncensored music. Cut to now, they have fines they’re still paying and here 2 radio stations play uncensored music now. Anyway. My idea of radio shack as a kid was just for getting cellphones, but then carriers started beating them in deals, cars came with their main advertising at the time of “install satellite radio today!” And shortly after they disappeared

    Fascinating dive into a name I haven't heard of in ages. It was really cool to learn how their history goes back to over a century ago! Just goes to show how fast technology has expanded in recent decades and how not being able to keep up, leadership and financial mismanagement can topple a household name so quickly.

    Radioshack owners were ahead of their time by marketing constantly, hiring the catalog experts etc. Even when the paper shortage was caused from the war they still establishes themselves with the paper. By RadioShack proactively putting themselves in front of customers was instrumental in keeping them afloat.

    • @LetsTalkBusinessYT
      @LetsTalkBusinessYT 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly! I feel like if they would of stuck to what made them a powerhouse in the late 70's through 90's they would of weathered the storm in 2000, and continued to be a great company. However I think the passing of Charles Tandy (R.I.P.) was the real culprit to their demise. He was ahead of his time before he even bought them and was seeing the future.
