Better yet, she's marrying me soon. Watch and enjoy as I take a royal dump on all the fun because I'm an absolute grinch. Thanks to Moco Museum for the invite! If I was to give Gladiator 9/10, I would give Gladiator II, 7.5/10. It's a good film, but it's shy of being great.

@@tiffsaver thanks for watching
@@fredasquithYT Thanks for your wonderful review. I found it very inventive how you did the entire podcast on location, in real time. Best of luck.
i wnt to watch it today. it was shite. the main guy paul mescal - hes pish. its got too much cgi, and looks bad, really bad. a monkey fight - looks poor and cheap. I had zero following of the plot. the main thing about this film - really used 'all the key lines of dialogue from the first gladiator', eg ''what you do in life echoes in eternity'' - was cringeworthy. I mean its totally shit. Forget it.
@@gingerindian1141 I ain’t gonna argue with this take
@@fredasquithYT thank you. I saw first one in the cinema back in the day. I was hoping for better. Much better. This is marginally better than JOker 2.
I'm not a big fan of sequels, for all the reasons you just gave. I'll just wait for this puppy to show up on free TV.
Denzel's performance is way overrated and his standard American accent was too fookin' lazy.
DUDE!!! Without having even seen this yet, I had the exact same thought. While I dearly LOVE Denzel, I think he's much more attuned to playing a 21st century man, not a trainer of gladiators in ancient Rome. You simply cannot beat Oliver Reed in the role.
@@tiffsaver EXACTLY! Loved Proximo!
@@longlivingdude Did you read how that when he died before the movie ended that they decided to make a CGI substitute for him rather than cut him out of the movie entirely?? It was crazy!
Paul is a gentle energy. He's not a gladiator. Some movies shouldn't have a sequel or a remake
@@wereokfornow I am inclined to agree
Its alot of guff.,they should have left the first film alone!., Denzel's name (not his character in the film)is carrying the film and Paul Mescal just does not look right in that role.,its not convincing at all., and i agree with you its a copycat film and it does not work!.,.
@@Gary-qd7kl yeah something not quite right with Paul’s performance I agree

Interesting cos i also imagined NY to be really loud, big and HONK HONK.
Now that's Horse Power!
With Anora, didn't she pretend to accept the 10k offer at first, purely as a way for her to be brought to Zakharov so she could confront him about deserting her and as a way to try and talk him around? That was my understanding at the time anyway. Blitz was poor. I agree with everything you felt coming out of that film All the timings felt off. It was all meant to have happened in 24 hours but it felt more like a two week period which was jarring when you're trying to sympathise or understand the characters. I think the televisual element of Blitz is perhaps a symptom of it being an Apple movie where it has that feeling that it's all packaged up ready for streaming.
@@lukemurton7601 yeah very good points

Love Dreamgirls - the music element is superb - singing off the chart. Is that because I'm gay ?? 🤣🤣🤣 The storyline is weak, but immaterial to me, and I agree it's far too long. Great review … quick question Fred which is your favourite London Cinema to watch a film? Quick side bar I recently went to the BFI to watch Alien: Romulus in IIMAX and at 6’2” I hated the experience with the painful lack of leg room :-( liked the film but think would have liked much more without the knee pain 😂
@@gabrielgatsby GREAT QUESTION I completely agree about the BFI. Obviously incredible visually but you can get way better sound and comfort elsewhere. My choice depends on the film; for big showcase releases I like the Dolby Atmos Screen 1 at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, for smaller art house releases I love Curzon Aldgate (really intimate and well orientated screens/seats), for IMAX I would go BFI but I always have to pick the premium seats at the back now and on an aisle so I don’t feel so trapped 😂
@@fredasquithYT hey thank you noted and listed for the next visit. I was same with films locally up in West Yorkshire big screen for the busters and then Everyman for the more intimate films but that became to much like a restaurant with a cinema attached. Now I like the Vue row C or D centre. My local Vue for some reason has become a bit of a cinephile location with no phones or loud munching generally. I actually think it’s the price at only £6.99 for the front middle rows think it attracts a lot of film fans who go every week - interesting notion cheaper meaning better 💜
So you made a video because you bought a dvd...I'm losing grip on this insane world FAST 😂
