HANLE BIKING trip | CAMPING at NOMAD FESTIVAL Ladakh 🇮🇳
#ladakh #hanle #nomadicfestival #nomadiclife #india #motorcycle #leh #camping
We camped with Nomadic People at Hanle Festival in Ladakh!
It's the final 2 days of our bike trip across the Himalayas in India. It couldn't end on a more authentic note than camping with locals at a nomadic festival in a very remote place called Hanle 250km from Leh.
A once in a lifetime experience seeing how the nomadic people live, meeting their animals and hearing their songs. But even more special than that was spending the night camping with the most welcoming local family.

    I want to do motorcycles in Ladakh as well and have watched about a dozen related videos, and yours is one of the most informative. I can see that the road is narrow and in bad conditions, but is this really riskier than taking a van? What are the odds of you falling off your bike?

    • @KinfolkTravels
      @KinfolkTravels 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi!! I am so glad you found this video then and that it was helpful 👏🏼 that makes me so happy 😊 That’s a good question, I mean anything can happen on those roads by your own doing or by that of a passing by cars doing whether biking, in a van, 4x4 etc. It’s risky terrains no matter what mode of transport you take. I guess all you can do is to try and minimize the risk. With a van I guess you have a driver who is very familiar with the road, you won’t have the risk of becoming too exhausted and making mistakes and less risks of falling. But you definitely won’t get the same experience in a van as you would on a bike. If doing it by bike I would just make sure to do it with an organized group/tour that knows the road and have medical assistance and a car to put your bike in if it becomes too dangerous or you are too tired. ☺️

I'm from Vietnam where people daily commute by bikes (though most are automatic transmissions and scooters), and have done part of the Ha Giang Loop on bike before (you should check it out). • @KinfolkTravels
      @KinfolkTravels หลายเดือนก่อน

      All good, I hope this explanation clarifies it: Usually flights increase in altitude but then for landing descent again back to close to sea level. However when flying from Delhi to Leh the flight increases in altitude but never really descents much again as Leh is already at such a high altitude. Hope this helps :)

      Hi! That’s what it came to. 🥺 I know you can probably get it for $25 in India. But we went to an international store that was a biiiit more expensive. Not something I’d recommend unless you are missing home and wanting to get some comfort food from your home country at a price :)

      @@KinfolkTravels I was there in April 2024 and I stayed in a Homestay on Sankar road. But I really felt that the rooms are not heated enough. They have a personal heater for each room but it’s not really enough to heat the room properly and because of that I really suffered a lot at night when it was really cold. I want to go back in July too when I believe it should be a bit warmer. But you are right, Leh is really a very very special destination…..out of this world…

      I’m sorry to hear that :/ I can imagine April being quite cold. Was it full of snow? What did you do there, wasn’t a lot of places still closed? Hope when you go back you enjoy warmer weather. In July we didn’t need heaters it was warm enough ☀️

      @@KinfolkTravels Indeed, quite a lot of places were closed but there were enough places opened....I didn't miss anything really. The lady host at my hotel told me the Dalai Lama often visits few days after his birthday....Maybe it could be an interesting time to visit. I was mostly attracted by the monasteries because the way of life of the Buddhist monks has always fascinated me. Hemis Monastery and Thiksey were among the special ones. I need to visit again because I want to be able to discuss with the Head of Lamas at Thiksey. He is a very learned monk and he will probably have some secrets to share with me hopefully. There was some snow at one point and I managed to have photos of Hemis Monastery under the snow, which is something very rare.
