Was Sosa going to "Oswald" Tony Montana?
มุมมอง 252หลายเดือนก่อน
The whole "Tony should have stuck with the plan" narrative breaks down when you consider the realities, both criminal and political, around him, and the liability he represented to those above. I make the case that not only did Tony have a legit emotional reaction to the no-win scenario, he knew that what they were pushing him into would only make his problems worse, and permanent. Feedback is ...

Crash - Jeep vs Compact Car, one person ejected

Happened in Los Angeles, in Northridge, CA - Roscoe and Wilbur, on October 14, 2024. The accident was marked by a loud screeching noise and big bangs, and was immediately dispatched to the LAFD as a two-car accident, one person ejected. When I got on scene, this is what I saw and recorded. The ejected person was alive at the time of LAFD arrival, and that they did not immediately evacuate him s...
Two coyotes at night coming towards me down the street

This was on 10/5/2024, around 1:25AM, in Northridge, CA (Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, a suburban area of L.A.) If you stand in one place for a while at night, all kinds of wildlife will come down the path and not realize you were there. In this case, I saw the coyotes coming first and decided to see how long it would take before they spotted me (I was in the street, near the curb). I wasn'...

Northridge Fire on Fourth of July, 2024 - A scene walking up to a fire, presumably (though not proven) caused by fireworks, which ended up also getting the building next it, a house, also involved (per the radio reports). Pretty scary stuff, took my breath away. Always something near me!

Fourth of July fire in Northridge California, possibly due to fireworks, 07/04/24. A lot of fireworks went off that night, and we had quite dry conditions. Something similar happened in recent years just a quarter mile north on Wilbur, at Parthenia. I'll repost that video sometime here.

This happened at around 10:20PM on Saturday night, 10/7/23. I heard a noise of a skidding car, then a big crash, and the power went out for about 10 seconds. When I walked down the block to see, a car had crashed, a LAUSD police officer was on scene (watch the video to find out why), and the driver had bailed on the vehicle, hit and run, city property involved.

    You make a strong point. Tony knew way too much to let him live. I think he also realized at the high level meeting that everyone else still viewed him as beneath them; a country thug to be used until no longer useful.

  • @rermn8292
    @rermn8292 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Brother, you have Tony Montana character all wrong. Did you watch Scareface with Al Pacino? The movie you're describing is a fantasy. I suggest you watch this movie again...and again and once again.

    • @glennhighcoveexploresstuff
      @glennhighcoveexploresstuff หลายเดือนก่อน

      Brother... I've watched the movie probably 100 times (literally) at this point, as if it were Hamlet. I can probably quote the movie back to you, and have a BA in English Lit (significance: had to spend four years just analyzing texts and writing essays on them). Believe me that I know the character better than you probably do. I'll do some more vids on the topic. He's a bad guy, but he's not that kind of bad guy (a Sosa). He's a narcissist who seems to refrain from direct violence against innocents, only being violent with other thugs and criminals.

    • @rermn8292
      @rermn8292 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, He is violent and a narcissist. Explosive uncontrollable anger that he slapps his own sister that he loves and protects. He didn't flinch when he killed the cop. His clear red line is killing those that aren't deserving of his wrath. He cherishes innocence is his one true pillar for hope. That's why he couldn't kill the wife and kids. That's why he protected Gina's innocence. That's why he slapped her when he found her in the bathroom making out with the " nobody." He's kills Manny because Manny represents the corruption of innocence. That's why when you imply Tony has a soft spot, he doesn't.

    • @glennhighcoveexploresstuff
      @glennhighcoveexploresstuff หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rermn8292 Well, I certainly welcome your feedback, I think it will make a good follow-up episode for this. Because I do think you're right about everything, or almost everything, but if you watch closely, there's no innocent directly harmed by him, except maybe his sister (and that is arguable). Not even the guy who took his sister into the men's room -- can you imagine? Almost anyone else would have probably stomped the guy. But it wasn't about that, it was about his ego and her not doing what he told her to do. Let's also not forget that Mel isn't really a cop. He's a hardened criminal racketeer masquerading as the law. I'll do another spiel about this, the sequence where he and Frank eat it is one of my favorites in the movie. I'm by no means saying Tony is a good guy, a criminal with a heart of gold, etc. -- he's not. He's a Richard III, a MacBeth. I'll explore it further, I think you and I are on the same page, and I like your analysis.

    • @rermn8292
      @rermn8292 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @glennhighcoveexploresstuff I agree with your points, but I'm not seeing Sosa wanting to wack Tony. Sosa from lunch recognized early on that Tony wasn't a Frank stoog along for the ride. Sosa, after that lunch, knew he could do business with him. That Montana could be trusted. I think Tony has some rules in his criminal mastermind head, and killing innocence is one of his red lines. He's not a cold-blooded killer. He has rules. That is why I think he is revered in the gangster movie community. That's why he gets pissed when Frank accuses him of lying to him. He wants loyalty because he gives it. " i did what i could on the side, but i never turned you." This line in the movie is revealing. He rejects the accusation by Frank to the point of getting in Franks face just like with Sosa at lunch. " Make a move." He's a different kind of gangster. I equate him to a Samurai general at war. Anyway, I look forward to the next post. 👍

      @@rermn8292 I love where this is going, and I'm gonna do the vid for sure now addressing this further, because there's a rich topic here. Think about it though -- Sosa needs suppliers, and the market has plenty. Some will probably give Sosa a harder bargain than Tony was, they're bigger, more overhead, etc. But they've also already dealt with the legal hurtles, and are more dependable at this point. Tony knows too much and now could potentially turn state's witness -- what does Sosa care about his "word is bond?" He betrays that same word/agreement in the topic of this video, that bond can be broken by anyone. Sosa meanwhile has the backing of the country he lives in, at the very top (he's basically a Kennedy, past an Escobar, at this point), and also has cooperation from the CIA, as the meeting indicated with the blond state department rep. This is Noriega-level and more. But the thing is, Tony doesn't seem happy at all coming back. Why? Surely this is simple, and while it may seem like garbage-handling, it supposedly is going to "solve" his tax problem. But that sounds a little too good to be true, no? And Tony presumably knows a lot about double-crosses, and this is what I'll go into -- his depressed mood going into the hit. He knows this is no solution, just another hurtle to deal with while he deals with the bigger, life-crisis existential ones, like not being able to have a kid with his wife. Remember all those scenes of him watching TV and commenting on news stories? That was there for a reason, not just filler to show his deteriorating relationship with Manny and Elvira. Tony is becoming upper-middle class and has new expectations for his life, and tries, without success, to fit that new role. This is good stuff. Keep it coming, this show is writing itself and I hope is interesting to others that think way too much about this movie like I do.

    • @glennhighcoveexploresstuff

      They weren't ready to pour yet -- they were doing trenches in batches, covering them quickly so we could drive on them for the rest of the week or month, and then doing the pipes, and later concrete and asphalt, in batches. It was amazingly efficient, we were always able to get our cars in and out, even during the day. Probably the best city projects I ever saw, and I've seen them across the county (unfortunately, just tangential to commuting and where my workplaces were).

I have, plenty of times. Early callers (like the neighbors of this house, spraying their bushes and roofs) already got help. No need to call when the LAFD is already there. My impression (I'm no expert) is that by the time the backhoe gets there, it's totally compromised on the side of the part they are pushing down on. That being said, some days I did hear what sounded like jackhammering, maybe where the main is at that intersection. In fact, that part is still open right now because they still need to get it pressurized downstream for the new pipes. I'm on the new pipes already :P I have a vid coming of them doing the chlorination.

      Ah -- yep, another commenter (Christine) had mentioned this as well. So looks like a fairly modern (cough, 1990s, I'm a little old) engine replacement? It sent me down the rabbit hole further. Maybe a follow-up post to this where I further display my pig ignorance ;)

    GM LS v8 engine-6.2,5.3, or a 4.8 liter.

      Thank you! For the ignorant like me, was the manifold (is that the thing at the bottom) the giveaway? Also, what's missing from the engine in it's current config, some kind of cover, or is that thing good to go like how it is there, once the whole other cover (the thing in the back apparently was the old one and won't go over this one, per the guy I was talking to in the muted audio) goes back on?

    At 0:37 I really like that Sterling boom crane truck.

      Me too! And my big regret is while I did manage to get a lot of good photos of it outside my house over the months, I never really got close footage of it in action, and it is a great weathered piece of equipment with a lot of nice handy features a layman like me wouldn't know were standard features.

      I know, right? I had a fun time watching this, awesome that it was right there in front of where I live. Nice crew too, these videos are only meant to highlight their good and efficient (and I mean it, it was amazing how much they got done every day) work. Good attitudes too.
