Generating Standard Curve and Determination of Protein Concentration in Excel
To determine the protein concentration of unknown samples, the standard curve needs to be constructed with known concentrations that give known absorbance.
The absorbance is plotted against the concentration

The Coefficient Of Variation calculation in Excel
มุมมอง 8K3 ปีที่แล้ว
#Excel #CV #StandardDeviation The Coefficient of Variation (CV) is expressed as percentage and is a measure of relative variability of the results. Ideal CV is less than 5% and no worse than 10% In order to calculate CV% you need to know Standard Deviation and the mean of the results. coefficient of variation in statistics, coefficient of variation for grouped data, coefficient of variation exp...

How COVID-19 Vaccines work? | What is vaccination? Immune system Body has its own way to defend itself against harmful organisms. These are skin barrier, mucous, cilia (microscopic hairs that swipe debris away). However, when a pathogen finds a way to infect the body despite all these physical barriers, body's defense, called an immune system are triggered to destroy the pathogen and keep the b...

How to construct Bland Altman plot in Excel
มุมมอง 34K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Bland Altman plot tutorial Bland-Altman plot can be used to illustrate the agreement between the two data. To generate a Bland-Altman plot you need to calculate the difference between the 2 data and the mean between the two data. Then you need to calculate the bias (the mean of the differences), standard deviation and the limits of agreement. #Bland-Altmanplot #graphdrawing #excel #formula #cal...
Sanger sequencing
มุมมอง 3.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Sanger sequence is a method used to determine DNA sequence. This method was developed by Frederick Sanger and colleagues in 1977 which became the most widely used in vitro sequencing method. Sanger sequencing is based on dideoxynucleotides during in vitro DNA replication. The results are analysed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. gcse biology #sangersequencing #DNAsequencing #PCR #gelelect...
Enzymes | How Enzymes Work | Enzyme kinetics

Enzymes are biological catalysts which increases the rate of reaction without being used up in the overall process. There are different types of enzymes such as amylase, lipase and protease. Alcohol dehydrogenase catalyses ethanol and NAD into acetaldehyde and NADH. The enzyme activity is dependent on multiple factors such as enzyme and substrate concentration, pH, and temperature. Each enzyme ...

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is a widely used method to make many copies of a specific nucleic acid segment in vitro. The amplified DNA segment can be used in wide range of processes such as in the Human Genome Project, in DNA fingerprinting, in the detection of viral particles, in diagnosis of genetic disorders and so on. PCR requires DNA template, Taq DNA Polymerase, DNA primers and free n...
Protein Structure | Protein Folding

Protein folding is a vital process for a protein to find its native conformation to be able to serve for assigned function. In this video, the mechanism of protein folding was discussed in detail. Native structure of protein is determined by its unique amino acid sequence. Once the protein achieves all the interactions it enters into the most thermodynamically stable (favourable) state. Protein Synthesis ( Part 2) :Translation in eukaryotes and prokaryotes
มุมมอง 8804 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, translation process in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes are explained. Translation requires 3 steps: initiation, elongation and termination. Translation occurs in the cytoplasm and requires protein factories called ribosomes. In the end of translation (termination) process, a long polypeptide chain is released from the complex, that will fold into a protein. Subscribe my channel: ...

    can i use this plot(with its values) to find unknown concentrations of my protein? i mean i will only add my protein absorbance values

    • @lifesciencesstudyguide1847
      @lifesciencesstudyguide1847 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, to find your unknown concentration you need to dilute your protein standard with your lysis buffer/diluent and measure their absorbance values and draw your graph based on your absorbance vs your known protein concentration, obtain the line equation from that and then you can measure your unknown protein absorbance and use that value to put into your line equation. These values in the video are just for illustration purposes.

      if you use different decimal places/or if you round the values for the manual calculation below, it can give slight differences. If you want to be more exact you can use the 1st method shown. Thanks

      When you are presenting the graph, I would suggest to keep them on to show your upper and lower limit of agreement. The middle line will only show you your mean of differences. But you can change the width, type, size etc of your lines as you wanted for better appearance :)

    Thanks for the video Wouldn't the DNA strand shorten with every cycle due to primers?

    • @BennK
      @BennK 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The primers are fully integrated into the new strand, so the 3' end is consistent across all copies. This uses up primers, but you've already put in a lot more primers than will get used up just so they can find the needle (the matching complement) in the haystack of DNA during the early cycles, so it's not really an issue.

      Can you please explain how to interpret BA plot???

    • @lifesciencesstudyguide1847
      @lifesciencesstudyguide1847 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Swapnildoc The idea is to investigate the agreement between two quantitative measurements. And to do this you construct limits of agreement which are calculated by using the mean and the standard deviation. The resulting graph illustrate the difference between the two measurements plotted against the mean of the two measurements. Let’s say you are comparing an agreement between measured and target value. An ideal model would claim that the measured and target value gave exactly the same result. So, in that case the differences would be equal to zero. But in almost any measurement of variables results in some degree of error. The closer the mean difference (bias) to zero, the better the agreement between two measurements. Another thing to consider is the limits of agreement which estimate the interval that a portion of differences between the two measurements should lie within. In other words, 95% of the differences between the two measures is expected to be within the values described by the 95% limits of agreement. The wider limits of agreement suggest less precision and less agreement between the two measurements.
