The Other Side of C1/2
Dr. Thomason discusses and demonstrates a quick and easy way to assess a movement of C1/2 that he believes often gets missed on some patients.
UPDATE: Mobilization of the AC Joint
Dr. Thomason shows an update on a previous video where he demonstrates another way to mobilize the AC joint.
Mobilization to Improve Abduction of the AC Joint
In this video, Dr. Thomason demonstrates a mobilization he came up with to help improve abduction of the "shoulder" via the AC joint.
Palpation of the Scapula
Dr. Thomason demonstrates in this video how a small portion of the scapula can often be confused by clinicians to be the first rib, especially with patients that have poor shoulder girlde position related to bad posture. Remember, when mobilizing/manipulating the first rib... rule number one is... BE ON THE FIRST RIB! In order to do that effectively, we need to make sure our palpation is correc...
Measuring Cervical ROM Without Compensation
Dr. Thomason shows modification of measuring cervical spine rotation active range of motion. This modification illustrates how patients can easily compensate during this assessment, providing a false sense of range of motion to the clinician. Watch, and try it out for yourself in the clinic!
Regaining Flexion/IR of the Hip
Dr. Thomason demonstrates yet another novel mobilization technique at the hip joint. We know a lot of our patients that have impingement type symptoms at the hip, or difficulty squatting because of lack of range of motion, have stiff hips. Usually, traditional mobilizations help quite a bit. However, there are some patients that continue to have limitations at the hip. With this mobilization, i...
The MOST IMPORTANT Ankle Stretch... Ever!
In this video, Dr. Thomason demonstrates on a live subject a simple alteration of an ankle stretch (and mobilization) of gaining dorsiflexion. Mainy of our patients with lower quadrant pains or dysfunctions have their proximal strength and movement pattterns heavily investigated. However, other than checking the length of the calf muscles, sometimes the ankle can get neglected. Whoa unto all of...
Review of Upper Cervical Assessment
In this video, Dr. Thomason reviews the mechanics of the upper cervical spine (OA and AA segments) and one alternative for their assessment in the seated position.
Alternative HVLAT to TL Junction
In this video, Dr. Thomason explains and demonstrates an alternative technique for manipulation of the thoraco-lumbar junction.
Manipulation of an Adducted Ulna
In this video, Dr. Thomason demonstrates manipulation (HVLAT) of an adducted ulna on a patient that has limited pronation.
Self-Mobilization of the Hip
Patients having stiffness and/or weakness of the hip? See a classic screening for hip dysfunction, but an easy solution to teach your patients for a home program!
Differential Diagnosis of Elevated 1st Rib
Learn how to distinguish whether an "elevated" first rib is a true subluxation, or more likely a dysfunction of something very close by (but often missed).
CT Junction Gapping HVLAT
This is a video to demonstrate the proper thrust for this technique. In my previous video of this technique, I had demonstrated and mentioned a very slight counter-thrust with the upper hand/contact. In actuality, there should be no movement of the upper hand/contact and only movement from the thrusting hand, as seen in this video.

Talo-navicular dorsiflexion mobilization
how do you know that the gains arent from the muscle energy technique
Thank you for this video and I realize if I didn’t study all the materials to fix my own issue
This is excellent. Thank you.
Thanks a lot.
Thanks for watching!
Great presentation, thanks for your efforts. Couldn't have been done in a better way. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching!
Really good one. Being a physio I have struggling to find a good home stretch to improve FABER. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! This works extremely well for limited mobility of the hip for that position.

"firing abductors to improve the mobility of hip extension...because hip extension is a pure spin movement" "Because hip abductors limit the hip distraction." Interesting stuff. So tight hip abductors need to be worked with distraction to get the hip spinning better into extension? Just trying to put it together.
Yes, limited mobility of the hip abductors will affect the spin movement of the hip. At least that's how my mind thinks of it.
Thanks for sharing, I took your FM1 with Kent this year at Fremont. I will take KSC with you next year!
Great video, thanks for the upload
Thanks David, be sure to check out the video that shows an update to this technique!
What do you think of this work? th-cam.com/video/ccdgsAv8HOY/w-d-xo.html
Anything below 15° dorsi lying down he will have a lot of problems. You need him doing weightbearing dynamization if it is a soft tissue restriction. If it is a joint related restriction he will need to go to an ortho surgeon for diagnostics and imaging and possible surgery depending on the findings. You showed nothing here. The first time you pushed less hard and the second time you pushed harder with more leverage. Of course his foot will be more neutral. Get him on his feet doing ankle mobility with weights and bands
Would you care to elaborate about 15 degrees while lying down?
This looks hard on your body in terms of your shoulder position?
sarah mcgoldrick I do the technique but I lift my table to maximum .. and works formidable ..
Beautiful work
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
It's nice seeing the technique from multiple viewpoints. thanks!
Thanks matt! This is a new technique to me. It looks tough on your thumbs, especially your R thumb stabilizing T1 SP. Do you get any joint pain in your hands?
thanks for the video matt. i look forward to trying that out. i'd love to see some manual therapy techniques for improving ankle dorsiflexion
Thanks Jay, I'll look into that!
Awesome Matt! I haven't seen that technique before. I'm looking forward to trying it out
Thanks Jay, let us know what you think when you try it!
I just used this technique & had a very nice improvement in hip EXT. Thanks again!
Thanks Jay, glad it worked for you!
great video matt! do you have a tripod setup or is someone holding your camera?
Thanks Jay! In this video, someone was holding the camera.
