This is becoming my new favorite place
Back in June, @JPVideos81 and myself visited the Cass Scenic Railway for the annual parade of steam. We loved it so much that we had to return. This time we got to ride The Whittaker Station train ride. Absolutely beautiful scenery no matter where you look.

While I love riding the rail trails along the Susquehanna and down in York, I love getting to branch out further to other states. I'll definitely be back to this one and see if I can make it down to Harper's Ferry

Okay, so I'm a few days and a few months late. Been an interesting year so far. Quite a bit going on in my personal life and of course my job. A couple weeks ago however, I had a nice relaxing weekend out in Altoona, PA. Did plenty of train spotting as well as riding around Altoona on the scooter.

When I get a chance to travel, I jump at it. When that travel involves trains, I couldn't ask for more. Without a doubt this was a fantastic trip to West Virginia with Jay. Needless to say Cass/Marlinton WV has become a go to destination spot. You can't get more peace and quiet than this. While going through some of my old videos from the previous channel I came across the few I did for the two day meetup out in Altoona with JP. This particular trip was a blast. After a full day at Lakemont Park and my first trip to Panda Express, we headed back to the Park for some fun evening activities.

Well, not exactly my first ride. I took it out previously for a little bit but didn't film anything. It was a beautiful day despite the cold. I can't wait for the first 60-65 degree day in the spring. I go fishing and hunting there can u pls do the one on top of the cliff.
That always looks like so much h fun . My husband and I have never seen trains with the gears on one side . If you told me those tra came from another country I'd believe it because of that oddity. Great video .
Wild, Wonderful and Almost Heaven!! Love Cass. My first time riding behind the Shay's, Heisler's and Climax's was in 1974 while attending BSA Buckskin Council Scout summer camp at Dilly's Mill about 15 miles south of Cass. Have visited Cass, Green Bank, Seneca State Forest and Watoga State Forst many, many times over my 60yrs. Love hearing the whistles echoing throughout the gorgeous mountains and valleys of Pocahontas County!! I live about 3 hours from Cass in Kanawha County. My mother started a family tradition in 1989 by renting 2 of the 2 story restored company houses for a family reunion at Thanksgiving. We continually returned to either Cass or up the Canaan Vally State Park since then, even after mom and dad passed on. Its been a family tradition for 45 yrears.
I was raised up there
Alsens concrete plant. 300 immigrants were brought in. Given their own town. School, post office and housing. Then the depression hit. Sound familiar? I’m from Catskill btw. Going to explore this place this weekend.
Think this would have been better if the leaves were laying on the ground . Thanks.for showing a place be safe out there
An autumn ride on this trail would be beautiful
Thanks Matt
Hands down one of your best edits!
Thanks so much Jay! It was great to get a bird up in the air again.
That is some really incredible footage! Just beautiful! What an awesome video, thank you Matt!
Thank you Gayle! it's been too long for the drone videos. I have some more in the works.
Great video. Can't get enough Horseshoe Curve.
Thanks Adam, the more I visit Altoona the more I really enjoy it there.
Awesome footage Matt .
Thanks Jerry!
That was cool , but I wish it was a little longer video 😊
I have another drone video coming soon of Altoona
Do you think whoever designed that 2nd area realizes they made 2 huge Pac Man?
Not sure if it was deliberate or not lol
Man I miss having a drone. Those are some great shots.
Thanks man, yeah it was a blast flying up there and especially at that time of day. The sun setting right behind the curve was perfect.
My Hiboy S2 Pro will be arriving later today.
This gap in the luckyleavees
while the saddle on the ep2 pro is good, the first thing i did when i got mine was buy a sprung saddle the size of a sofa.
I’ve been there many times as I have family in the area.
I love that whole area of PA. Hoping to go back soon.
No outro, no worries!! The rain, even in Michigan, has been so spontaneous, every time I have a day off and think about mowing, I can’t. At least the crops are getting properly watered!! Great video Matt!! 👍💙
your bike is pretty bright . love the orange . i think thats so much fun to ride the trails and see what ever you come across . fun time ....
I used to live near there and explored the entire estate but never went inside. There were several other buildings near the Craig House, including a beautiful schoolhouse down near the creek and a few old houses. Such a waste of so many beautiful structures that could be renovated if they would split up the acreage.

Now that was a day I won't soon forget. Your action 4 shot on the tie with the gearing running over top of it was the money shot! Thanks once again for doing this trip with me.
This was an awesome time. I loved how the footage came out with the camera on the railroad tie. Can’t wait to go back. I’d love to do one of the rides up to Bald Knob.
There's something magical about Cass Scenic RR. Been there a few times over the years. Thanks for posting.
Thank you! I absolutely loved it there. Can’t wait to take the ride up to Bald Knob some day.
Oh my goodness Matt, that sound is amazing, there is no way you can beat that for sure! It really is a gorgeous place, and it is so wonderful that you guys had a fantastic time. The Parade of Steam is incredible! Great video, thank you! 🛤🚂
You ate so right , it looks so beautiful there . And the trains are an added bonus. My favorite kind of train is the steam..Great video .🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
Love the scenery Matt :)
Awesome visual production and video editing. High quality of images! So beautiful, sweet and smooth. Much inspired and talented. A real peaceful and relaxing pleasure to watch. Full of poetry and spirit. Good for the mind and the eyes. Great visit and discover. Fabulous filming. Big big big like for this fantastic perform and brighting sharing. Splendid and luminous.
Nice video, Matt I just subscribed, and I look forward to watching future videos
Thanks Jenn! It feels good to be back at it from a different attitude.
Good seeing you back at it. Even more happy you decided to get back into it for our trip. Nice teaser at the end.
Working on it as we speak lol. It’s going to be a fun one to edit. Can’t wait to go back!
Really glad to see you "back"! Definitely the right move to keep your channel in place, treat it as a hobby, and take breaks as needed. I'm not on any social media other than TH-cam for the exact same reasons you mentioned. Not everything needs to be filmed, and taking the time to be present and in the moment, especially out in nature, is something we all need more of. Hope all continues to go well for you!
Thanks Jamie, it is pretty awesome when you can just disconnect like that and enjoy life for what it is without having to film everything. Filming what I want when I want and how I want I think it’s really benefit me in the long run.
Hey Matt! I'm so happy to see another video from you and I understand totally about social media and so forth, it can be very frustrating at times for sure. You were at such a beautiful place to film your video and I really enjoyed the fun clips you inserted. Love that bonus footage.😂 I will be looking forward to more of your upcoming videos. Welcome back to you too! Thank you!
Thanks Gayle, yeah like I said it’s been so much better being away from social media. My overall wellbeing is better for it. Feels good to be back making videos again.
Bless your heart!! Just take time to enjoy your life. ♥️
Thanks Julie
I was wondering why you Bailed on Facebook lol sweet vid
Facebook has turned into an old folks home for gen x’ers and boomers lol.
Hey Matt good to see you making content again. I know what you mean about social media Facebook. I only use Facebook for the groups to find trains to share my videos of trains. And and other things that I'm interested in and that's about it. I don't participate and posting much on Facebook. Definitely don't post any more on my Instagram. Rarely even look at it but I understand where you're coming from. It's just a mess that can pull you down. Take care ,hope to catch up with you soon.
Thanks Jerry. I just found over the past few years that for me Facebook is pretty useless and a waste of time. It’s good to be back making videos again.
Glad to see your're at it again. Miss hanging out with you and creating content. But we will definitely get together at some point.
Hey Randy 👋
Oh yeah, we’ll definitely get together sometime soon again. It’s nice to be back at my own pace.
@@mattPG78 how do you all find the time and funds to do this kind of stuff ? I can't barley justify going to Baltimore to do something if it's needed
Hey Matt! 👋 Another couple I follow all the sudden did a Live after like 10 months too. It happens ❤ Sometimes you need to see life at arms length.
Definitely! It’s given me better perspective on things.
@@mattPG78 🩷 Thank you for taking us to Hawaii thank Melanie too. It's somewhere I will never be able to go. I hope you had plenty of time with no camera
Another great video. 👍 It's crazy how the American government just flung the whole town out and built a munitions facility. America is huge, surely there's plenty of room for it!! That is was an interesting cemetery as well. I posted a video on my channel a while back where I visited the Fortinghall ewe tree in Perthshire Scotland. It's reputed to be 5,000 years old. Theres some gravestones round it as well.
Thank you! Yeah there’s a thing here in the states called eminent domain. It’s basically where the local government can come in and force people out (granted it’s much more detailed than that) but it’s a very controversial process. Look up the story of Centralia, PA and the underground mine fire.
That was a brilliant video. 👍 I much prefer the honest guy having a day out and some general chit chat along the way than the usual review videos where some dude gets a free bike to review and spends more time talking about himself than the bike. I'm over here in Scotland patiently waiting for my engwe ep2 pro that's going to be delivered on Tuesday morning.
Couldn't agree more, don’t get me wrong I appreciate in depth reviews due to the detail you get but I love watching practical real world applications to gear and things like e-bikes etc.
Great video guys, Living In Scranton we sometimes forget the beauty that we have here. Also next time you go there, walk up the tracks there's a path that goes right down to the top of the falls and you can walk across to the other side. Non the less great video. Thanks

That was such a fun day! Thanks for bringing back all those great memories. I'm heartbroken to hear they won't operate any of the rides this season, and it makes me very concerned for the future of the park.
The roller coaster in Lakemont Park came from Roseland Park in Canandaigua ny near me . The park closed I think in the 60s and everything was sold off . The roller coaster when it was here was called the skylines. Just a fun fact 😊...
Sad to hear they're no longer operating the rides. Glad we rode them when we did.
I have never had Panda express either. I dont think we have any in Maine. I am glad it was a nice day. Protect your skin.
The State Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is not the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum! They show Reading, Conrail and many other lines! They also have a fine research library! There is also a Logging Museum which features trains. TM former Friends of Museum Member
Thats cool business dude, 2 days ago i got a Xp Letric 2.0 from someone i know practically brand new. E-Bikes are fantastic, just keep in mind that cold weather riding drops the immediate life of the battery so you wont get as much distance, at 32F you'll find it to have half the normal warm weather distance. Let it warm up before you charge it
Nice man, maybe try some street radial tires theyre pretty great too if you dont offroad much
That's a great looking bike, Matt! Glad you've been able to get out to ride despite the winter weather. People like to diss electric bikes as "cheating," but I can tell you firsthand you still get a lot of exercise on them if you use pedal assist. I like it because it lets me go a lot further and say out longer than I can on a non-electric bike. The key is getting out consistently to build up your leg muscles an endurance, and having a comfortable seat means everything too. Hope to ride with you sometime this year!
Thanks Jamie! We will definitely get together and ride. Need to get you down to the Northwest River Trail and/or the Enola Low Grade Trail.
@@mattPG78 both are new-to-me trails and would be awesome to check out.
Beautiful! You guys have more snow than we have here in Minnesota, Matt! lol
