Homo Ludens methodology now has two streams of fighting applications, asymmetrical, which is original Systema with all of it's elements; and symmetrical which is MMA(Mixed Martial Arts) that is considered to be the most complete fighting sport of all times.

    Some people diss Systema. I think it is misunderstood. Take MMA as an example. The first 'M' stands for 'Mixed'. Originally it was various pure stylists going at each other. Eg a boxer vs a grappler. They realised they needed the other person's elements, so specific mixing evolved. Great. Unless you're a 55 yo MMA person vs a 25 yo. Or unless you're a MMA amateur facing a street wise criminal who has a knife. Then you need to add another element, eg something knife oriented from FMA or HEMA. There are mixed systems and there are single systems that hold a magnifying glass up to the specific elements that their style specialises in. One can be an MMA practitioner and realise they want to add something from a single style to help them in some specific way. They just have to find it and evaluate its worth. Plenty of higher ups in Systema also practice other styles. BJJ is a common choice. Systema is complete in itself for what it focuses on (many styles are), but not complete in any single person's life. Which is why cross training is pretty standard nowadays. Systema is focused on what it's focused on. It offers value to those who value what it offers. And the same can be said for any style. And keep in mind: Most criminals who we fantasise about fighting with are untrained, and quite deadly. Lots of people who do MMA don't pressure test it in competition. There are options you've never considered. Those Systema guys you laugh at are learning other ways to move, aren't wrecking themselves doing this, and are taking what they learn into the ring to inform their MMA. And they'll still be back to Systema next Saturday, BJJ on Monday, and boxing on Tuesday, etc.

    the attacker is not using his height and legs knees to his advantage for ex at 3.50 perfect time to take down or strike knee and take alex right arm as it comes back also to go under arm. striking ankle knee will stops alexs flow...

    Is anyone else besides me getting sick of all of this choreographed stuff? Please please please show me REAL situations instead of these very tired old "self defense" techniques that in a REAL FIGHT just do not work. They look great on video when everyone knows what the other will be doing that's not realistic. Reminds me of my old Tae Kwon Do classes in the 70's! Show me a REAL LEGIT situation on the street using these techniques!

    • @zimzima7232

      +PAUL DOWLING type "mass attack systema". The probleme is every martial system or sport combat is basically set up fights situations u will rarely find in the street. Systema insist on the wave concept, the flow. But it does takes in consideration louders strikers and sparing fights. I assure you, if you want test, try to have a class with Alex Kostic, trust me man, u will see all the real aspects ;)

    • @king60
      @king60 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Simon Paboeuf Agreed as far as what most MA classes do. It's not real. To be authentic show me REAL situations. Where does Kostic live?

      PAUL DOWLING so you want the guys in this gym to go into a bar and start a brawl? And record it at risk of going to jail and hurting themselves and others? Also you realise one of them actually competed in MMA?

    MMA means Mix Marshal Arts, so Systema could be part of it! l train mma, we do not have elements of Systema in our club (at least I think) - but from what l see on net and some seminars it looks very good! Has a very interesting concept that goes well in sparring and most importantly they are having a lot of fun... interesting exercises and games! Big respect for Systema guys! Any martial art is good on the street, the core is discipline and to know how to take control!

      Even though this stuff looks painfully staged in that the students are rolling around for him, most MMA fights I've seen actually devolve into this kind of formless, sloppy fighting style in the end. And I think that's the point. It seems like the guy's got a solid principle behind his MA style, but has lacked the confidence to ever really truly field-test it. And that's why we have these slightly cringey Dojo videos where the students are sort of performing along with it. They respect his idea and are trying to honour that. But they probably also detect that his creative idea lacks the grit of real experience. Again, hence their slightly staged-like performance. But you haven't seen many real fights if you don't think people fight like this in them. Watch some more street fight comp's on TH-cam. I guarantee most fights are kind of sloppy, erratic, and fluid, kind of like this. The difference is that this guy is teaching them to somewhat compose that formless fighting and to bring it under conscious control. Bringing it under conscious control would be regulating anxiety and adrenaline during any critical RL context while applying these movements. And that's a damn sight better than being so nervously strung that you gas out after a few blows and/or can barely hold your arms up in guard for all the nervous energy in your body.

    thats your opinion. in 30 yrs ill be 60 but i will still ride bikes and do whatever i feel like doing. playing scrabble and feeding pigeons is not for me. that is the preference of personality. you can see that as "not adult" but thats your problem. i intend to live.

  • @scarred10
    @scarred10 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    every word youve written is entirely adolescent,id expect that kind of comment from a 14 yr old

  • @ookami3380
    @ookami3380 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    its not about that. its about doing whatever you want. you are against it. what ego? i like brawls and drinking. you see that as a childs play. well eat vegetables and knit at home i dont care. but also dont tell me what to do. my ego just wont let me get beaten thats all.

  • @scarred10
    @scarred10 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    the difference between you and me is im 40 yrs old and not concerned with ego antics that little boys are obsessed with,like proving themselves.Its foolhardy to get in fights and get arrested .

  • @scarred10
    @scarred10 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    your a clown ,fights in todays world can mean death because so many carry knives,avoid places and people that cause trouble and you wont be getting attacked.If you like fighting ,do it in a combat sport and youll have less of a desire to prove anything outside the gym.

  • @ookami3380
    @ookami3380 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    you are still not making a point since laws are not the same worldwide, second of all i never started anything but did i enjoyed it when it happened? mmm..yes. maybe its a flaw in bringing up, sociopathic problem, call it what you want but do not take my right to feel certain way. also using anything as a weapon may be connected to ego==not wanting to be down and kicked. being able to do anything in order to avoid that. also instilling fear into regular citizens to not fight back is not bad ok?

  • @scarred10
    @scarred10 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    if they attack you empty handed and you use a weapon,its excessive force,not self defense,you will be prosecuted ,jail may mean you wont get a job after release ,loss of earnings and far more.IF YOURE FIGHTING THAT MUCH ,YOU ARE ASKING FOR it or at least being very careless.Glorifying violence is for jerkoff kids,thats what i mean by adolescent,it should be a last resort

  • @ookami3380
    @ookami3380 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    i never understood political correctness. so what if you re going to jail. nothing to it. plus if someone attacks you fuck him he asked for it. adolescent? i do not understand why is that adolescent. i guess you didnt live very much did ya? i never got robbed in my entire life, never took a beating in a pub or anywhere. i got used to play dirty and its great. if i just depended on my kbk skills that would have gotten me nowhere. there is always someone stronger and faster.

  • @scarred10
    @scarred10 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    bas is no authority on self defense(bar fighting isnt self defense).Using a weapon against an unarmed man will get you jail,even in self defense,nothing to do with warrior spirit,The rest of your post is the rambling of an adolescent

  • @ookami3380
    @ookami3380 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    thats not practical. even bas ruttens advice on street fighting or bar fighting is usually centered on using space and whatever is closest. i dont have a problem with a bottle to the head. some say its not part of "true warrior spirit" and yada yada yada but i didnt even want to fight in the first place so the attacker can suck it. baseball bat? better than a samurai sword :) a rock? breaks the forehead like a charm and the soup just pours beautifully:)

  • @scarred10
    @scarred10 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes they do,every combat sport athlete fights exactly the way they train ,thats why theyre effective.Ive wrestled and boxed and even used bjj on the street,if your getting in lots of fights you are looking for them and its not self defense.

  • @ookami3380
    @ookami3380 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    do you grapple on the street? does anyone? i personally punch in the face and if im in the pub, i use bottles and ashtrays. this thing is better used in those circumstances than in ring. oh yeah-im kickboxing for last 10 yrs. you think i ever lifted my leg when im in a bar fight? pha. think again. do you ever eat your soup with a fork? thats your answer.
