Steigenberger Aqua Magic Hurghada - A 5-Star Resort That Feels Like 2 or 3 (depending on the topic). Before booking Steigenberger Aqua Magic Hurghada, we did our research-watched videos, checked reviews, and set our expectations accordingly. Listed as a 5-star hotel on Google and TripAdvisor, we expected a premium experience. However, once we arrived, we quickly realized that the reality fell far short of the rating. 1. The “All-Inclusive” That Isn’t Quite All-Inclusive The hotel advertises six restaurants, but the all-inclusive package only grants access to three-and even that comes with strict limitations. You must stay at least five nights to even qualify for reservations; otherwise, the buffet is your only guaranteed option. But even if you meet the criteria, getting a reservation is a struggle, and once inside, you’re pushed to pay extra for items outside the package. The upselling is relentless, from premium wines to certain dishes, turning what should be a relaxing meal into a sales pitch. Oh, and if you were hoping for fresh juice with breakfast? Extra charge. 2. Facilities: Decent, But Not 5-Star Worthy ✔ The pool, beach area, and lounge are well-maintained. ✔ Bars are available all day, and staff work hard to keep areas clean. ✖ Some rooms show clear signs of neglect, making this feel nowhere near a true 5-star hotel. If this hotel were truly 5-star, there wouldn’t be visible maintenance issues, questionable service, and inconsistent quality across the board. 3. The Rooms: A Disappointment for a “Luxury” Hotel ✔ The beds are comfortable, the minibar is well-stocked, and we appreciated the towel decorations. ✖ Our window was covered in dove droppings, and it was obvious no one had cleaned it in a long time. ✖ The elevator had a persistent bad smell-a mix of humidity and neglect. ✖ A constant, loud noise from a nearby device made sleeping difficult. ✖ Soap and shampoo were diluted beyond recognition, and the shampoo smelled like an old wet shoe. ✖Do not expect to have a 5-Stars bathroom kit. They only provide a little soap and one little bottle of body cream. ✖ The shower is tiny! Good pressure though. For a 5-star hotel, these kinds of issues are unacceptable. 4. Dining: A Game of Luck and Persistence • Buffet - The only guaranteed option for all guests, regardless of their stay length. Decent variety, but nothing exceptional. • Lunch - Plenty of choices, but the quality is just average. Nothing memorable. • Dinner - If you win the reservation lottery and stay at least five nights, you might get access to an à la carte restaurant. But expect constant upselling-not once, but multiple times, from different waiters, all pushing non-inclusive wines and dishes. Instead of feeling pampered, you feel like you’re in a negotiation battle every night. This is not how a 5-star experience should feel. 5. “Aquawine” & The Problem with Drinks We had heard rumors that some resorts in Egypt water down their alcohol, but we never thought it would happen at a 5-star hotel. From the first sip, it was obvious-the wine was diluted. We even joked about calling it “Aquawine.” And it wasn’t just the wine-the liquor in the all-inclusive package also tasted suspiciously weak. When we questioned it, a staff member shrugged and said, “Germans don’t complain about it.” Whether that’s true or not, it was deeply disappointing. We’ve stayed at many all-inclusive resorts, and this was the first time we encountered something like this. A true 5-star resort wouldn’t cut corners on basic services like drinks. 6. Pool & Entertainment: Good, But With a Catch ✔ The pool area is well-maintained, and staff is generally friendly. They are definitely hardworking and mostly friendly and professional. ✔ The snacks at the pool bar are good-but be ready for long queues. ✖ Water slides have limited hours, meaning you can’t use them at any time. ✖ Constant upselling-whether it’s juice, beer, spa treatments, or beauty services, you’re always being sold something. For a 5-star hotel, it shouldn’t feel like you’re being pressured to spend extra money

so you pay for your safety deposit box in your room as its not under your all inclusive and pastry shop and cafe is also not covered by all inclusive

The hotel with the biggest disregard to other communities around them!! The noise in the evening from 20-24 is like a nightclub with horrendous music choices and so loud it's distorted.....

I went to kurumba 3 times, 1 time in 2019 2 times in 2023 service is amazing food is amazing especially you get a private pool in your house (sometimes) I really want to go again but my parents say no :(

Lago Hotel sells rooms that are not available. When we arrived, they wanted to check us into a cheaper room without compensation. They made us wait for three hours and exerted psychological pressure. When we realized that it was a scam, we refused to book and left. On the way out, a hotel employee stopped us; he tried to prevent my wife from leaving near the automatic door; due to the actions of the hotel employee, my wife got an injury to her hand. We contacted the hotel management, but the hotel blamed us for the incident and also wanted to charge us for a room that was not available. At the reception, many were arguing because of the same problem: there were no paid rooms. They did not want to check people in, they offered cheaper rooms for the same price. Lago is a scam.

Stayed here almost 20 years ago and judging by the other comments nothing much has changed, worst holiday of my life and ive been to Blackpool. I got the worst ever food poisoning from the buffet a friend was sexually assaulted by gay staff my brothers friend was stung by something on the beach and rushed to hospital German kids were trying to blind my mom with a laser pen random Turkish men kept touching my 2yo sisters head without consent because apparently red hair is good luck Friends came to the resort to visit my family for few hours, they brought their own food and drinks but the hotel tried to charge them full price for being there Being woke up every morning to a call to prayer of some guy moaning over a loudspeaker was pretty annoying Swapped my football shirt for a fake Calvin Klein jacket in the resort shop, then it fell apart within a week of getting back home. Im sure there are many beautiful places in Turkey but this isnt one of them. Never again.
