Hey, a little heads up! I didn't realize you'd put this up online! (Not that I mind.) Let's do it again soon.
AWESOME arrangement and performance! Inspiring to hear performance-worthy non-piano versions ahead of my own attempt to orchestrate this piece.
This is incredible!
You all sound AMAZING!
Incredible!
Playing this for the Houston sax competition and I’m so excited :D
Whew!
Bravo! Quelle performance de concert!
Amazing performance and exciting piece! ❤️🎶
Beautiful group sounds! And a really cool piece too! Really enjoyed this!
Hahahah this just makes me smile. What a beautiful transcription of an already incredible piece. Thank you for sharing this performance with us!
Fantastic!
Whoever disliked this, shame shame shame on you
I am in awe of y'all's tones, they're so full and robust!
Wonderful, didn't expect this
Truly wonderful :)
OMG, Just awesome!
Do these people even breathe?
Dayyum band! Excellent!
Loving the ambient sounds. @utsa
2:26 The most beautiful part 😢
Wow amazing!
What kind of mouthpiece is on the soprano and what reed? Pure sound!
The videos are comin' fast and furious now! Hope the trend continues!
Tell me something about how this was filmed and on what equipment.
Hi Rodney! The camera is a Sony AX53 and was filmed on a tripod in the back of the hall. I hope this helps!
You guys have the same problem with lighting I sometimes have when recording at MSU. The stage lighting is not evenly distributed, so that when players are too far forward, they do not get lit properly. Note that the light is best at the center of your stage. If they were seated further back, then their faces would be more visible. Zooming in more closely would also give more detail. Great quality, otherwise. Our stage, unfortunately, has dark spots on the left and right. It would be nice to have more in the notes, such as the school and hall where this was recorded. I personally like to put in as much info as I can for viewers in the future. Now that I am not longer on the Facebook entry, I don't know what school this is but this video certainly makes me interested in knowing. Very nice.
What can you say? You guys are outrageous.
Does anybody know where I could find this arrangement
This has just been published by Edition Peters. (EP68235A)
In my opinion, it is better than piano version. AWESOME!!!
Extremely cool!
Heard Zzyzx live last week. Brilliant and exhilarating performance. Catch them if you can!
If anyone was wondering what a "Zzyzx Machine" sounds like, here is your answer. (I mean that in the best possible way.)
Amazing!!! I love your peformance, beautiful colours are sprouting from your horns! I very much like the tenor adopting the role of the baritone sax in the last part with it` s percussive low notes becoming the foundation of the ensemble while the baritone actually plays a higher part than it usually would and gets covered by the opacity of the tenor` s lower range. The baritone- tenor bass exchange is also very obvious in the first movemet not to mention the beautiful sort of tartitini tone vibrating beetwen the bells of the two lower horns. What is unique about these pieces how the sequences are added and fitted toghether, there is an amazing rythmical dialogue in there and some lyrical speach aswell.
Fantastic playing. I would like to know what is the equipment setup for the tenor saxophone (mouthpiece, reeds, etc.). Looking to achieve this great sound
Dana, do you have enough reeds? Sounds amazing, guys! Love your quartet.
Personal experience, never too many or too little reeds. Lol hi
Such a great movement, and a fantastic performance.
The way he achieves the doubling of the legato line, and the way you guys pull it off, is very cool.
How great is it that there are so many active, virtuosic young quartets out there that a project like this is possible?
Bravi!
Wonderful!
That was awesome!
You are outstanding!
Wow, this is... Something else, haha. But I like it a lot, well done!!
Holy fuck this is an incredibly beautiful arrangement. Never in my life would've imagined this to work so smoothly for brass!
TheExarion You mean winds....
a very nice video and a piece concept.....was it essential for all the players to do Circular breathing?
That's some hot sax!
The idea that you guys could be getting better is downright scary.
Maybe the best performance of this piece I've ever heard. It's certainly the most I've ever enjoyed it. (This goes for both of the movements you posted.) You strip away the "Frenchness" we usually hear oozing from the piece, and make it about _leggiero_, clean playing, tight ensemble. _Bravi_ _tutti_ ! Edit: I've tried several times, but for some reason it won't let me put "Bravi" in italics... :(
