Club Car Precedent Lift Kit | Brake Issues and solutions
In this video, we look at the different potential issues encountered with brakes, when installing a lift kit on a Club Car Precedent.
In my experience, here are a few ways to counter brake issues when installing a 4 leaf set of HD rear springs. Often, the stock brake cables are simply too short. To counter this, we can do a few things:
1) Swap the brake assemblies over to the opposing side of the axle, thus elevating the height of the actuator mechanism, reducing the effect of the added axle drop of the lift process.
2) Install a drivers side brake cable with increased length to enable the installation of the cable without causing undue tension on the mechanism.
This can be achieved by either sourcing an after market cable with increased length on the drivers side assembly (USA Spec cart), or simply installing a passenger side cable (longer cable) on the drivers side.
In this video, we install a passenger side cable onto the drivers side. Ultimately, I will install a metallic 'P Clamp' onto the bottom of the cart to secure the extra length of the longer cable.
The additional length will eliminate the 'piano string' effect which induces pulsations in the brake pedal feel when using an OEM spec length cable in certain lifted conditions.

What was the cost of the axles differential and bearings etc in this video
Camber/ heim adjustment while putting the front tires on?....where's that instruction?
What is it called ??
At 17:00 where can I find that gear? I ordered one but the shaft size was too big to fit the bearings

Good paint job, indeed !
I also wonder why the manufacturer, have not incorporate in the design, Disk Brakes
There is corrosion in the battery wells, I wonder if sandblast would work better to remove the damage?
Probably, I’ve found they are relatively cheap to replace with a new one when you consider the amount of time it takes to refurbish them!
I enjoy your work. Whats the specs of torque, to those screws (4) to these two retrainers . And witch oil and correct amount to refill the differential. I think you corrected that noise. Thank you

Nobody is forcing you to watch. I was learning to edit.
@DaveDivesIn oh i didnt watch, was going to, but then the music just wouldnt stop so found a better video without the crap music and watched it.

Hey brother, I just rebuilt my golf cart rear end just as you did.. everything went smoothly except when I installed it and hit the gas I heard a loud constant noise.. my question is, is there a certain way the gears half to be lined up? Do they half to be the big chunk in the back and the middle gear are close to each other but not touching.. any advice you can give me on a trick to stop the noise.. I put all new bearings but took the gears out of a used rear end that had structure damage.. the gears looked good, I inspected then well.. please help.. thanks..
Shoot me an email Brother davedivesinvlogs@gmail.com
Nice work gent!
Any idea on ehat size bearings i need for a 93' EZGO txt? I cant find the info online anywhere
Hi Dave, can I ask where you get all your parts from for the TXT ?
I pulled my hub and bearings a few hours ago and learned that I should have tapped the hub with a plastic/ rubber hammer instead of a small steel hammer just like the shop manual said. Even though they were light taps, the cast hub broke. Duh.
Can you install my lift kit if I help you? I'm in South Carolina myself.
I changed mine and the valve still ticking
Which part number did you order? I found the after market ones are junk
Great job!
you forgot the center pins in the bottom of the diff. and the u bolts go from underneed
1) Not sure what you mean. 2) No they don’t. If you have a truck, go take a look!
look at the instructions for the lift, wish i can send you a picture to show you but youtube dont have that option @@DaveDivesIn
If you mean the centering nut and bolt on the bottom plates, I installed them (see item 27 below). I am stood looking at manuals for 3 different lift kits, they always mount from the top (see item 28 & 29 below) madjax.com/support/manuals/16-001_6in-A-Arm-Lift-Kit_CC-Precedent_Manual.pdf
Thanks for the video! Any tips for removing that top gear and bearings? Those two bearings on the input shaft are definitely bad for me.
And any idea where that seal on the input shaft bearing can be sourced?

hello what rocker panel u used for ezgo txt
SOS pads (steel wool soap pads) clean alloy parts up really well. Everything looked like new, except the diff housing. But, now you know if there is a next time. Stuff like this is addictive, so I'll assume there will be a next time. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. I’ll be doing mine this weekend. Video helped
Awesome! Send pics! Davedivesinvlogs@gmail.com
How would you go about adding two or 4 wheels for a ultra smooth ride
Dave, thanks so much for making this video. I had a 'Custom Cartz' shop do some maintenance recently and it was not done properly (for starters the new axle bearings are totally shot after only 3 months...if they actually replaced them). I tried your link to the rebuild kit in your description but it no longer works. I have a 2005 EZGO TXT PDS cart with the factory Dana rear end. Couple of questions: 1.) Can you provide the link to the bearing seating tool set you used to install the bearings? 2.) Can you provide the link to the bearing puller set you used to remove the bearings from the differential? 3.) Any suggestions on removing the motor which is stuck to the input shaft (motor housing spins freely after the bolts were removed but it will not come off the input shaft? Thanks again for the great content. Cheers, Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)
Hey Jeff, shoot me an email: davedivesinvlogs@gmail.com
Great video
So i guess no part 4? Beautiful build so far
I wish you had better lighting on the axles. Your camera was facing directly outside toward the light making the contrast very bad in the important stuff. You went to a lot of trouble to make the video. Cinematography needs work. Thanks, though.
What ever happened to the rest of the rebuild series?
I recorded footage all the way to the end of the project. Unfortunately the SD card corrupted before I could download the last 2-3 episodes. Trying to find someone to recover the data!
This looks to be a really good series. Thank you for filming all of this.
Hi Dave, I clicked on the ebay link you bearing kit you used but it did not pull it up. Do you have the part number fort that kit by chance?
www.ebay.com/itm/255690845310?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=wXbFy7tgTSm&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=uF0rlNjeSTq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=SMS
How did you fill the differential oil? Mine only seems to have a drain plug. Guess I could flip it over.
I filled the cover before installing
At the 21:00 minute mark you are attaching the leaf spring. I'm wondering if you could tell me the part that attaches to the frame? One of these are broken on my cart when attaching new leaf springs I came across this problem. Thank you.
Shoot me a photo of what you mean to davedivesinvlogs@gmail.com
David what size tire you put it with the 6/ Lyft live
I use 23 x 10.5 x 12 or 14

Excellent video, well done mate! Unfortunately I found your video after I installed my lift kit on my club car incorrectly, I had the rear lift blocks backwards, short side was facing backwards. 😢 Wasn’t going together correctly. Missed that critical step in the paper instructions 😮. It was easier assembling second time around though 😂
Thx Mate for the tip on the longer drivers side brake cable. I had same issue with my lift kit installation.
Did you end up replacing the differential? You said the spider gear(s) had possibly too much play in it. Is that an acceptable amount of play in them? Thanks. Great video! If the diff. gears themselves are worn out, where do get them? - I can't seem to find them for sale on ebay.
Hey Steve, I did not. The diff was smooth and quiet after replacement of the bearings.
@@DaveDivesIn Thanks so much, Dave. I guess then that there is supposed to be a certain amount of acceptable “gear lash” (?) / play in those gears. Thanks again.
@@DaveDivesIn Another question, Dave, which faulty (old) bearings do you suspect were primarily causing the loud running gear / noise? Which of the old bearings seemed to be most worn out / and the least worn out, as well, and where were they located? Thanks again.
I think the driver side outboard bearing was the worst, figured I’d change them all!
@@DaveDivesIn Is that one of those two biggest bearings in the sides of the differential case that support the large, vertical (pinion?) gear? Thanks much for all your help and your previous, prompt replies! - I'm in the current process of trying to decide how to go about fixing my Mother's exact same model, (a 2009 EZGO TXT.), which has a probable bad bearing caused rear end noise. I'm not sure where exactly the noise is coming from. It seems to be heard best with the motor unloaded / foot off the accelerator, most of the times, while driving it, but not always - it doesn't seem consistent, to me, when I test drove it a couple times, and I can't nail where it's coming from. Thanks. .
Everything is on TH-cam, thanks to good lads like yourself!
Did you notice if the drivers side brake cable was too short after the lift?
I installed an extended cable. Thanks for watching!
Just watched another one of your vids that answered my brake length question. Thank you. Great vids
حلوووووووه
Not sure if I missed it, what paint did you use on the frame?
Did you have to take anything apart to get to that
No, it’s exposed on the front of the engine
Thank you for the videos. it helped me to understand what I was getting into before starting and how to prepare. Hope to see Episode 4 in the future!
I bought a set of those Sams club Duracell batteries two years ago and two have already gone bad.
They aren’t good from my experience. This set was replaced.
