DIY WHEELBARROW - GARDEN WHEEL BARREL
มุมมอง 6372 ปีที่แล้ว
DIY wheelbarrow - garden wheel barrel For a long time I wanted to have a 2-wheel wheelbarrow with a flat bed (also called a garden wheel barrow or wheel barrel) to be used in the garden or to transport large volume stuff. Unfortunately they cost a lot of money and it’s not something you use every day… When cleaning up my scrap metal, and noticing the galvanized tubes and pipes from an old tramp...
DIY Fixing/Repairing/Rebuilding my MIG welder
มุมมอง 8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this episode I repair/fix my MIG welder. I try to find out what’s wrong with it and I have to conclude that the controller (which is used for both the welding wire feed motor as some tuning for spot-welding) is broken. Replacing the propriety controller is a challenge with a 20-years old MIG welder, so I decide to rebuild it with some standard electrical components such as relays and a PWM m...
DIY Anvil-dual-bench grinder-press drill-4-in-1 STAND
มุมมอง 4832 ปีที่แล้ว
DIY Anvil-dual-bench grinder-press drill-4-in-1 STAND I like my workshop… it’s cozy, “well-organized” and I don’t have to stretch my arm too much to take whatever I need… on the down side… well… full is full… So I need to use every square centimeter… With this project I create a single stand with both an anvil (DIY), a standing bench drill, and two bench grinders with different discs… As the an...
DIY Lathe Tail stock refurbishment and adding it to Digital Read Out (DRO)
มุมมอง 4693 ปีที่แล้ว
I already added a DRO (Digital Read Out) to my 1950’s Mondial Simplex lathe for the X and Y axis in my previous youtube video th-cam.com/video/UUyUGLb8GUs/w-d-xo.html and I wanted the 3rd axis to be on the lathe tail stock. Drilling and turning with the tail stock on the lathe is so much easier with the Digital Read Out. I use the opportunity to refurbish and rebuild the tail stock, and I am re...
DIY - Adding a Digital Read Out to a 1950's Mondial Simplex lathe
มุมมอง 6183 ปีที่แล้ว
A 1950’s lathe has one disadvantage: there is nothing digital about it… there is no digital read-out. (aka DRO). The DRO uses linear sensors to measure the travel path in the different axis and makes things a lot easier... When using the lathe to turn my tracking and drive wheels for my 200x5 belt grinder, I had some challenges to really accurately get the sizes correct. On an old lathe, you st...
DIY REFURBISHMENT FOUR-JAW LATHE CHUCK
มุมมอง 3.6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
When I bought my 1950’s (Belgian) Mondial Simplex lathes with a 150cm bed, I had several chucks delivered with it of which one independent four-jaw chuck which is not mounted directly on the spindle, but can be mounted in another chuck itself. I never used it, and when looking at it I also discovered I did not had a key for it. In this episode, I am refurbishing the lathe chuck and bringing it ...
DIY - How to make a 200x5 or 72x2 BELT GRINDER - FINAL BUILD (Episode 6/6)
มุมมอง 1713 ปีที่แล้ว
In this 6h episode and final episode of building my 200x5 cm(or 72x2 ”) belt grinder, I assemble all the pieces of the 72x2” belt grinder that I have build in the previous episodes. I had to replace some of my self made and poured aluminum belt wheels as the inner measurements were not accurate enough and I did not had time to pour and mill these wheels again. The belt grinder has his own “orga...
DIY - How to make 200x5 cm (or 72x2 ") BELT GRINDER - ep5: building the tracking and locking stuff
มุมมอง 1843 ปีที่แล้ว
In this 5th episode of building my 200x5 cm(or 72x2 ”) belt grinder, I work on the final pieces of the tracking and tension mechanism and the locking of the different parts of the belt grinder. Of course it is the usual usage of scrap metal and re-purposing of (free) available parts. The belt grinder has his own “organic” design as I try to re-use available scrap “as is”, as far as this is poss...

well, I don't decide on the number of views... that's TH-cam's magic and people looking for certain content... And as a non-native English speaker and no interest in doing a voice-over, I put some music on it that is royalty free and totally unnecessary so can be muted at any time... ;o)

Hello, i'm also from belgium and i recently bought a Simplex lathe. Did you resolve the wobble ? i have the same problem

    • @ExtremeDIYinBelgium
      @ExtremeDIYinBelgium ปีที่แล้ว

well, I did not progress on this project as I did 40 other projects in the meantime... But about the wobble: some lessons learned from somebody who only started with lathes some years ago: measuring at the outside of your chuck is a bad practice. In the end it's your working piece that needs to be centered and aligned... and for this the inside of your chuck clamps/teeth (or what you are calling them) should be "centered"... I solved this (found some youtube videos doing the same thing) with clamping a dremel in the cutting tools holder and very softly grinding the inside of the clamps.

      Original (1950 or so) was 1390 rpm, 1,5 hp, 5,1 A. I replaced it a couple of years ago with a 2890 rpm, 2,2kW which is 4,5 A in 3 phase

I used this PWM controller from @m@zon (not sponsored, I payed for it!): DC PWM Motor Controller Reversible 12V 24V 36V 40A High Performance Motor Speed Controller Switch CCM6Ds-B ... probably a bit over-engineered for what I was using it for, but may be it will last longer... It also has a trigger switch, so that you do not have to switch the whole PWM controller on and off when welding...

I have built 2 furnaces the oldest is a little over 20 years old two layers (5 inches thick) insulating brick 2400 on the outside next to the shell and 2600's on the inside. the third furnace is for aluminum only and is only one layer. I just wanted a train and that needed allot of iron. I haven't made many videos but the ones i have are epic (at least in my tiny world) LOL, my medium furnace holds a #16 and the tilter holds a #50 crucible Silicon carbide of course. those numbers are for aluminum with iron they hold about 40 and 200 pounds
