Martin Scaiff, Our Environmentalist in Residence 2024
🌿Martin joined Suffolk Libraries in April 2024, beginning a six-month walking journey connecting all 45 of Suffolk’s library venues and collecting sound along the way. The recordings Martin gathered during his residency have been developed into a bespoke audio collection called Seconds of Sound (S.O.S) capturing acoustic moments in time across Suffolk’s landscape, with the collection featuring a compilation of tracks for each walking route. The collection is an open access resource and is freely available to listen to and download by anyone, anywhere, anytime.
During his residency, Martin walked a total distance of 520.24km which is 701,090 steps or 12 marathons over 134 hours and 33 minutes - that’s a total of 484,380 seconds of sound!

    I enjoyed listening to Joy Ellis. I have read 14 of her books so far which is pretty good for someone who lives on (the very hot and dry ) west coast of Australia. The connection is my mother, grandmother, great grandmother and further were born in the Lincolnshire Fens. I have been there and can confirm that there are no similarities at all with WA. I also discovered in the interview that Richard Armitage has been the narrator of some of Joy's books. I first saw him on Spooks! I liked the suggestion that DI Jackman he be played by Richard. It's been suggested that Richard looks very much like Hugh Jackman who went to a similar drama school here in Perth (WAPPA) that Richard did in the UK (LAMDA). Thank you Lisa. It was a great interview.

    We love you Simon Brett! I love the books mrs presumed dead & a nice class of corpse so much! That female amateur sleuth is definitely my favourite! I really am your biggest fan and I’ve only recently discovered you so I have years of pleasurable catching up to do! I guess I will have to pretend that you are the only writer that exists! I will still read spiritual stuff for balance and for my sanity however but the only fiction I will indulge myself in will be yours, and I have never ever felt like this about a male author before!!!!!😉🦋🙏 💛🌟✨⭐️✨👑✨⭐️✨🌟💛

    Such a great interview! So interesting to hear Joy's various inputs. It would be simply amazing if indeed there will be a TV series in the near future with Richard Armitage playing Jackman!😊🤞 His narration on Audible is simply the best! Best regards from Australia!😊

In fact in his book a pound of flesh, he talks about plastic surgery in such a way that it has cured my addiction to getting different sizes of breast implants! can anyone help with this question being new to this hobby ? can the pieces that are cut and folded back that make the background be cut off? i find the very small strips never lay flat. i have no intention to read the book so damage is no concern. i am not sure if these cut strips need to be left to add volume etc,thanks

    • @SuffolkLibraries
      @SuffolkLibraries 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gary. I have spoken to Emma (the member of staff that is in the video) and she has said: I've never tried cutting off the extra parts and I suspect it would be as you say, you would lose the volume & the effect. We are currently looking at doing a follow-up video so if you do have any additional queries, let us know. Hope this helps!

      Hi Elizabeth! I have asked Emma about this and she has said: "Yes, that is what I have cut my pages to, but you can cut to whatever depth you like. The deeper the cut the deeper inside your book the pattern will be created." Hope this helps!

    What a stroke of luck! I was googling Stella Tillyard this afternoon and saw this recent post. So I just watched. It's terrific! I adored "The Aristocrats" and the bio of Lord Fitzgerald and, Lisa Brennan, you are quite good at making authors feel at home. It was wonderful to see Stella Tillyard start out a tad self-concious and then completely lose herself in talking about her work. (Because you can see how much she loves it, that other world of writing!) She is brilliant and now I know she is charming, too. What a treat. Thank you so much. (Just stopping in from Connecticut!)
