What a marvelous duet than never happened.They could have worked together if he had made The Music Man because she would have been cast as Marian repeating her Broadway role.But as Robert Preston was cast they decided to cast a movie star and also a soprano Shirley Jones.So Barbara and Sinatra have never sang together .i dont know if she has heard this mix;Beautiful

She recorded the first in 1959 and the second in 2009 and she recorded the 2009 recording live listening the 1959 one.excelent

Thank you 2amuse1, The creative idea of yours to blend and contrast her voice from different decades was so well executed. It is a lovely and unusual way to hear this great musician.

This "duet" never really happened until a wonderful vocal artist named Cindy Soltoff realized that Frank and Barbara sang this song on separate albums, but in the same key. She proceeded to use today's technology to join the two. This was the lovely and magical result result.

She sang this song WITHOUT MIC!!!A AT 80.

Its a pity that they didnt sing together. Two amazing voices. They could have sang together when she started to sing in cabaret in the seventies but nothing happened.They were first cast for The music man but Robert Preston and Shirley Jones made the movie.

A standard at its best done by a woman who has suffered, rejoiced, laughed and sobbed and at 85, still goes on without losing a beat, singing as well now as she did years ago! Battling depression, alcoholism, and all the fun stuff that comes with the pair, she returned triumphantly and better than before. In Ms. Cook's case, truly does not matter 'where or when.'

I totally agree. I have never forgotten the impact of that evening. I wish it were on record.

this is beautiful. thanks for creating this. such bright openness when young, in a normative feminine pitch, sweet soprano, and then after years of crashed dreams and thoughtful reflection such dark melancholy in her contemporary recording..like much of her later work: a meditation on failure, with her still sweet voice touching the failed Cook and the failed in us all with a sweeping, maternal, deep, rich, soothing love: a beautiful, sappy, tender ailment.
