MY Makita Plunge Saw vs my DIY version - Which one is better?

How is it when planing wider surfaces? I heard it can only go down to 3mm, because the housing on the side collides with the surface.
It does go down to 4mm. But like any planer going full depth and full width they all struggle a bit. I’ve got the makita 1050w corded planer and that struggles full depth at 4mm on full width.
I lked your makita 40 vilt review it made me very interested in the Makita leaving Milwaukee. Now for the Hilti, hum a high end tool manufacturer offers cheaply made saw like their rear handle saw has plastic rafter hook. Though ofder 20 year warranty with 2 year overnight swap.
Thanks for your expertise sir.
No way i would want this saw. Looks half baked and kinda ugly
for track saws it's not about being ugly, it's about precision, if this was better than others it could be valuable i mean for the money you pay(including hilti batteries too) you can go with a lot better track saw
Update to video. The Parallel guide for this is available now from Hilti.
Is the saw shoe ( base) plastic?
It appears to be a coated aluminium
Looks and sounds very plastic-y.
After using a few Hilti tool recently I was disappointed with this track saw.
@@Mueller_projectsthis saw is so expensive if you don’t own the batteries that it’s a better idea to buy a Mafell k85 and be happy for the rest of our known lives
Metabo HPT. Best
Thank you sir for the review. Used a Milwaukee when I was in the carpenter union. Felt okay easy to use, had plenty of power. I looked into Makita or Hilti I am a finish carpenter need to be able to make straight cuts. Can you find a fellow carpenter to test Makita vs Hilti? A video from Australia on he was switching to Makita from Milwaukee I as well. He stated Milwaukee is more for plumbers and electricians. I agree all I see or DeWalt (yellow black and Decker.)
I found the Makita 40v had heaps of power. Both were similar, but I personally felt the 40v had more power. Hilti doesn’t have a rear yet in NZ.
Have one replacing it with pastored. To heavy, terrible at toe nailing and really bad at shooting 8s
Thank you for sharing those genuine and compassionate words. Kia ora from Auckland :)
Thank you for watching and your positive feedback.
That is definitely a rebrand FLEX oscillating tool.
I have this laser and I love it.
Thanks for the comment
Yup
Thanks for the comment.
The dust extraction is usually used when using the tool as a sander.
Great reply. It would work better that one. It’s one way I’ve hardly ever used a sander.
Seems very biased
Wasn’t ment to be. Tried to show the difference between the 2 saws
Very Nice
Thanks. One of best investments I’ve made. A higher end toolbelt or custom toolbelt are worth it
You can use Karcher dustbag replace Makita dust bag coz Makita dust dust bag quite expensive 😊
Thanks for the tip!
Xgt vacuum look nice, if i had one I would prefer to use it with a reusable bag(if makita makes ones)rather than this awkward filter system since there is no auto-clean in this model
Just use a filter bag .It wouldn't be osha complaint without it anyway for most things .Absolutely love the 40v I have.
When I got my dream 18v makita saw(dhs680) I was a bit disappointed that it had less power than I expected, now I'd like to have hs012 or hs004, still wondering if hs004 is more powerful than hs012 or they are the same
From what I understand the dhs680 has a power output of 680w. The hs012 & the hs004 both have an output of 1300w. Just different sized blade. The hs012 is lighter than the dhs680 with more power
@@Mueller_projects thanks, xgt looks really great compared to lxt, oh I supposed hs002/4 saw with 190 blades has more power,
💖
"Without deviation from the norm, progress is impossible." Frank Zappa Is it weird that ive taken a liking to these motivationa monday things😂.. Keep spreading the good word dude. See you on the next one.
Cheers. I’ve had quite a bit of positive feedback about them, that’s why I do them every week. Not many watch them on TH-cam, but Instagram get good views
Makita made in Japan just ok, made in china is fu*** rubbish
Most manufacturers have gone 18v with a bigger motor, Makita have gone 36v smaller motor...the batteries are the same just wired for either 18v 8ah or 36v(40v max) 4ah...nice vid :) I think ill stay with Makita :)
That last bit when you're digging with the gun.... 2" hose coming off a dust collector hopper will change your life! Literally scrape the "walls" of the hole while running a vacuum and it sucks it right into the bin. No clean up. No sweeping after. If you need to backfill a bit after plumbing or something, simply tip the bin.
Be Being able to change out the chuck is actually pretty boss. I should keep an eye out for testing opportunities like this.
I went from AEG Ridgid here and a junkie none cutting saw to Milwaukee rear an impressive upgrade to an even better rear handle Saw FLEX. This saw is so fast and powerful it's the Last rear handle i will own because it is the beat.
Thanks for the comment. Some of the flex gear looks impressive, we can’t get it here in NZ yet.
1- the fact that we all dont simply have the same math at this point is beyond ridiculous to me... Im american and even i have 10 fingers and 10 toes. We learn to count to 10 at first, then at some point they throw us a loop and make us read a tape measure😂 2 - i dig the table. Been wanting to build out a few 2' x 4' tables to replace my big one...
True about maths mate. I see apprentices getting their phones out a lot for even simple math. The table is based on a Ron Paulk design that I reduced in size to suite me.
@Mueller_projects oh yeah. Mine too. The thing is really bulky anymore. Honeymoon phase was over for me probably 2 years ago... yours is very Scott brownish. I'll probably go for it in spring(northern hemisphere). Have a good night. Or morning. Whatever it is...
Customizing a tool belt rules
Good job. It is easier with a coping saw.
Maybe, but I’ve never liked coping saws. They do have their place, but for trim scribing cuts I find a jigsaw faster and easier
@@Mueller_projectsi agree 👍
I was thinking about upgrading from my Paslode to one of these but the weight of it was just too much. Especially the risk of dropping it from a height if you’re working on a roof. It could cause the planet to tilt. 😂 Nice video mate.
They are a bit on the heavy side. But you do get used to it. I hardly notice it now. Working a lot with native timber or Oregon, the Milwaukee doesn’t struggle unlike my paslode.
Everything that is of value on this site is sold out.

Ever heard of clamps? Hard for me to take this test seriously when the wood is moving all over the place.
subbed coz your channel had the answers for what I’ve been asking myself bout lately 😂
Thanks for the sub! Glad my videos have been helpful
Do you prefer this now over the makita?
Yes. If I was to replace my Makita, it would be with the Milwaukee
conclusion - stick with neumatic
If you want to lug a air hose over the job! For me last time I used pneumatic was over 6 years ago with a past boss. I’ll stick with cordless any day now
I own both and I use cordless more often, sometimes I have to use cordless, just recently had to do some repairs in a attic, yes I couldn’t of figured it out with the pneumatic but thank god for the Milwaukee not having to drag the cord and compressor up there made a world of difference. Yes the Milwaukee is heavy, but overall it’s a great nail gun, but hey to each their own. If you don’t have the need to drop the over 300 bucks on the bare tool than stick with what works for you
So was this venture, as a result of the tool belt test, he carried out: th-cam.com/video/aWkxEnnFvKA/w-d-xo.html.
I think so.
My Milwaukee framing nailer packed in after 1 year.
Did you return it under warranty? After over 3rd mine developed a issue with the piston, was replaced under warranty
Hey man, question does the makita suspenders fit a Taurus leather belt?
All the suspenders I’ve used either came with belt loops to put a 50mm toolbelt through, or you can by them separately if needed. Some toolbelts have places to attach suspenders too. Does that answer your question?
I agree with you on the Taurus vs Makita suspenders. I looked at the Taurus and went for the Makita. It does get a bit sweaty and scratchy in summer. I bought a new diamondback Grande 2.0 belt recently, carry more gear in it, and it still feels lighter, so I haven't bothered putting any suspenders on.
Nice video 👍
Thanks 👍
I don't know what Makita was thinking not linking the light to the trigger... I've had this saw for a year and that's my only problem with it. I would still highly recommend it
It makes a great boat anchor too heavy go Hikoki
My apprentice has the Hikoki. It’s a bit lighter, but I found the belt hook annoying
@@Mueller_projects I agree, most change over to a finisher Hook from Hikoki probably source as a spare part
Nice saw Good job
Could you please make a video on the packout base you made for it
