Learn this and then you have to learn not to hook the ball too much! Talking from experience.
@@jaymorin7131 Hi Jay, everyone has a tendency and yours then is obviously a Hook! You need to reel the Hook in back to straight and learn how to add certain movements to balance things out! A Hook starts right and curves left and doesn’t start left and curve left so make sure you’ve got that right or you’ll be wasting your time trying to correct a hook when it’s actually a pull hook - a completely different shot! A Hook tends to have good lateral movements that shallow the club shaft but not enough or the correct rotational movements to bring the club shaft back on plane! Every good player has a combination of both shallowers & steeperners in their swing! If you check out this video then you will be able to relax and let the club go and create lots of speed and power whilst ensuring that everything matches up, cheers buddy! th-cam.com/video/gVt3KrgFO-U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qwBkppDYQGObA6ip

Hi Lee. Only just found your channel. Such a shame as I was in Austria for a few weeks recently and only discovered you once back in blighty otherwise I would of looked to have booked up with you. I am having real results with your simple, consistent and quality messaging. My ball striking is really coming on with the feet together drill however I am still finding, even doing this drill, that I am thinning the ball quite a bit. Any thoughts on what I could possibly be doing wrong to thin a good proportion of my shots 'feet together'. A new subscriber to your channel sir....
@@chrisn9511 Hi Chris buddy, that’s a shame would have been great to meet you and the weather is great at the moment. If you are thinning shots with feet together then normally it can only be one of three things. The obvious one is that you are standing up and out of your posture slightly in the downswing and through impact so just keep a check on that. The next one is that your swing direction is either coming too far from the outside and blocking your rotation on the way down and the ball is heading off to the left or the opposite and you have too much lateral movement due to attacking the ball too much from the inside and more often than not hitting straight pushes to the right. The last one that most golfers overlook is tension and grip pressure. Tension at any time in the swing shortens the muscles and raises the club head only slightly but more than enough to hit thinned shots! Grip pressure from 1 - 10, a 4 is a good number but maintain this throughout and don’t be tempted to grab or control things at any point in the swing. Let me know how you go and next time you’re in town then don’t hesitate to give me a shout 🔥⛳️ Thanks for the Sub it’s great to have you on board my mate 😊👍Cheers, Lee

@ Hi Chris buddy, how did your practice session go? Did you have less thinned shots? Cheers for sharing me that’s great and much appreciated 😊👍 If you need anything from my side then just let me know 👍 Cheers my friend, Lee
@@LeeKopanskiGolfswingzone Thanks for checking in Lee. WHAT A DIFFERENCE... You were right... A friend filmed me and I was standing up slightly on the downswing which I would never of known. Half a bucket of balls later and with a much lighter grip I was getting such lovely compression and a much higher ball flight. This will make you smile... I played a fun 9 hole xmas round with 3 friends today and as a fun challenge I made everyone play every shot with their feet together for the whole round.. playing your video to them before we went out by way of context. We are all similar handicaps (16-18) and every single one of shot in the low 40s. I scored 42.. which is much better average score than my 'normal' game. I feel so enthused as I have been struggling for so long.. with only my short game saving my scores. Thank you. I have been so down with my game as of late and messing around trying so many things. This simple method already has me striking balls which I have rarely done before and even with my feet together my distances were up to 20 yards longer. A long way to go but i feel excited for golf again. Thank you
Oh and I have just been on your website and noticed you have written a book... I have been a good boy this year and I have asked someone for a copy from Santa... Enjoy the royalty fee on me 😀
hey lee, sorry for the longer text following :D : I have 2 questions. I noticed I overrotate without shifting weight. I was wondering why and remembered your phrase: golf is an explosive sport. so I tried to swing the club with the same explosiveness/tempo I would return a tennis ball to score. I noticed that my weight transfer took place naturally and all the other stuff as well. I was on plane. did not overrotate and generated good lag. no chicken winging etc. felt good. It seemed there was no room/time/ even need to think about the sequence. 1. what is your take on that? is there anything I should keep in mind with going faster ? 2. there is a video where you describe pushing against the grip with the left hand to create the angle between club and arms in the backswing. this sounds a bit contrary to " loose wrists will create lag by itself". can you explain to me how both things work together? thanks and especially thanks for you videos and books which made my golf year 2024 full of hope and confidence. I know 2025 will be even better
@@AlonzoHarris90 Hey Alonzo, no probs buddy I’m glad to help 👍 The faster the hand and arm motion the more active the body becomes to naturally support that motion. That’s why I always say that the hands and arms first and the body follows. The more aggressive the hand and arm motion the more dynamic the body movements become which then naturally proceed the motion. Like when throwing or tennis the weight shifts first which frees things up allowing for the hand and arm motion to naturally pull the body into the correct position. Obviously there are levels in everything. The video talking about the pressure down with the left hand in the backswing is for the golfer that drags the club head too much on the inside in the take away. This pressure down pops the club head up and out in front of me and gets the club back on plane. If that’s not you then just relax and let it flow! Thanks so much for your nice words my friend, it’s really cool that I can help and yes 2025 will be a great season, cheers buddy, Lee
@@LeeKopanskiGolfswingzone thanks for the prompt response. great to hear, sounds like I understood one more puzzle piece :) to get a natural swing, I need to let go of thoughts about the swing. to let go of thoughts, I need to increase tempo. (in my case) cheers!
Cheers my friend, Lee
Some coaches suggest just keeping your weight on the front foot as amateurs find it difficult to get back to the front foot once on the back foot, especially with the driver. What do you think?
@@EricMski Hi Eric, great question and believe me I’ve tried them all! If you leave your weight onto your left leg you’ll start to reverse pivot over your left side causing all kinds of problems! If you throw a ball, play tennis, throw a punch or do any movement that requires body weight and force then there will always be a transference of weight from one side to the other! If a golfer can’t get back onto his left side through impact then telling him to leave is body weight on his lead foot, left foot is a disaster waiting to happen! Allow your body weight to freely flow from foot to foot and how your hand and arm swing guides the body into the correct position! Don’t fight it let it flow! It will need practice to time the movements but you’ll be a much better golfer for it, and you’ll remain injury free! cheers buddy, Lee 😊👍⛳️

Thanks again Lee, really enjoying this…and your book too! The combo of the words and the video works well together! I think the message I get here is that the hips are sort of just along for the ride….a natural consequence of in effect leading with the arms….i.e. the hips will turn back and forward naturally? The illustration of the throw/tennis shot etc seem to really show this is natural movement. More emphasis on this in my practice, and a heap less tension to boot! One idea for future vids perhaps….dealing with shots on up/down/side slopes, as hitting from a beautifully flat range mat doesn’t translate to the sometimes sloping challenges of the golf course….although to be fair I take enough of my own challenges too! Cheers
@@martincook324 Hey Martin buddy thanks for your kind words they are much appreciated 👍 also great to hear that you are enjoying my book 😊 Yes the hips are just going along for the ride as the hand and arm motion pulls the body into the correct position! As a young apprentice I asked once why is that, to get the reply “do you really think that these guys under extreme pressure start thinking about a 1000 things”? Top players simplify as much as possible whereas you tend to find most amateurs make a straight forward shot a mathematical equation! Great video Lee. It has taught me that I have lost the basics. Trying too hard to focus on everything, and also the wrong things at once. Keep making these vids, as they are so helpful!!!
@@frankcrossfield6734 cheers for your nice comment Frank it’s much appreciated buddy 😊👍 Yes if only golfers learned to get out of their own way and trust their natural ability just that little bit more they would drastically improve! It’s hard to let go of the control and stop over thinking things but if you can let it flow and let your shots go you may just surprise yourself 🔥👍⛳️

Tried your feet left club right drill. Man, thank you! Suddenly great path numbers. Wrists tend to still be afraid of the right so some hooks occur. How do I calm them?
@@JanCrabmaster9000-pn9sv that’s great that you’re starting to get consistency with your swing path! If the ball is starting to the right but spinning left with draw spin then firstly take a look at your grip, especially the right hand! The right hand is the dangerous one, make sure it’s not too far under the grip at address. If your grip is fine then try and hold the face open through impact and exaggerate it. Hit lots of push fades and then work back to straight from there. Without taking a look at your swing that’s about all I can suggest, hope this helps, cheers, Lee
Thank you so much. Love your content!
@@JanCrabmaster9000-pn9sv cheers buddy, much appreciated 😊👍
Thanks Lee, great advice and giving insight into the ‘why’ behind it. The big message here for me I think is indeed the ‘let it go’ part. That is such a big step to take (a tiny step to try it though!) as advice from others tends to promote control over every aspect of the swing versus your refreshing approach which is more to relax and put more trust in one’s own natural body responses to swing movements. It makes more sense to rely on one’s own natural response than to try ( and fail valiantly!) to program in unnatural biomechanics and expect them to be repeatable. If it wasn’t dark I would be outside giving it a go right now. Very inspiring. Cheers
@@martincook324 exactly Martin it’s all about getting a feel for your own swing and allowing the movements to naturally flow! Every swing is different in both looks and how it feels but to really gain control you’ve got to give the control away and learn to trust your own natural movements and let it go! For some golfers breaking the swing into 101 pieces works but at the end of the day only if they learn to trust the new movements! Thanks for your great feedback it’s much appreciated my friend, cheers, Lee
Brilliant content Lee. Thanks so much for the effort. Arms lead and body follows......shocker! With six children I know you are not the boss mate. Don't be cheap and let Hugo have your driver. Your children are awesome. Cheers!
Couldn't agree more, great content and even better family.

Hello Mr. Kopanski. My name is Jose from San Diego, California. I’m 56 years old and been playing for about 10 years. I stumbled across your videos about a month ago and loved your honesty. I immediately went back to your first video roughly about 5 years ago and watched every single one. In most of your videos you keep saying make your swing yours. I took that to heart and started practicing as you indicated. I’m one of those players that have pretty much every training aid available just to be disappointed and discouraged. I religiously follow your methods and I’m amazed of the progress. My alignment is way better but most of all, I played yesterday and for the first time in 10 years I played PAIN FREE. I played 18 holes and couldn’t believe that my body, specially my back was pain free. By using all the smaller muscles versus the bigger muscles made such a huge difference. I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your dedication, entertaining videos and most of all for showing me that golf can be fun again. Thanks again, fan and follower for life. I no longer fine myself watching any other videos but yours.
@@joseheredia7126 Hi Jose my friend, yes you’ve hit the nail on the head 👍 it’s all about becoming the best version of yourself and finding your own swing, the swing that fits YOU! Save yourself $ on training aids and with feet together get your hands, arms and wrists firing! Then gradually introduce some some weight transference and allow the hand and arm swing, the swinging motion, to pull the body into the correct position! AND remain injury free! Many golfers find themselves unknowingly fighting with complicated swing mechanics, they don’t need to! Thanks so much for your great feedback it makes it all worth it 👍 Go get those birdies 🔥⛳️ Cheers, Lee
Lee, just watched this video (my first of yours) and love the carefree nature of the swing. I’m confused as to what generates the movement. You talk about arms, hands shoulders but later the feet and weight transfer/pressure. The backswing then the downswing. I’d love to play golf like this! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
If you have the club on target at the top and not laid off, you don't have to worry about weight transfer etc. Many ways to swing from here as well but this is how I believe he is going about it. The physics of the club when laid off want to push you up and backwards. When you're on target physics will push you to the lead side. Lower body will go but upper body stays with the club. You can overdo this His note on starting slow and gaining speed is good because this will push you over enough then when the club is more upright and the forces aren't as prevalent you are adding some effortless speed before releasing the club. If you're getting steep or over the top look at trail shoulder maybe it's not working well. Let it help smoothly bring the club down in transition if you aren't doing naturally. It should work better the rest of the swing if it just starts more down rather than toward the ball. Just some extra info to make the swing easier and reaffirm what you're trying to do. Impact is basically off the trail hip no need to ever try to get hands back to center of you body & shoulders will be fairly square at impact just naturally tilted. Hope this somewhat helps good luck.
@@woodenclogs5830 Hi my friend, the hands and arms first and the body follows! The more aggressive the hand and arm swing then the more active the body becomes to support this motion! For example, many golfers misinterpret this and believe that the hips start the downswing when in fact that’s just a natural reaction to the hand and arm motion. Start by hitting shots with feet together and learn to get your hands, arms and wrists firing. Then you can widen your stance and gradually introduce some simple weight transference from foot to foot. Everything has to be relaxed! Allow the hand and arm swing to pull the body into position, don’t fight it just let it go until your swing sequence becomes one and the hands, arms and body work together! Go find your swing, the swing that fits YOU buddy 😊👍 Cheers, Lee
@@LeeKopanskiGolfswingzone Thanks Lee for the clarity here….i get it! I just tried it at the nearby range and it worked great. The ball went far and straight and the weight transfer just happened. Beautiful!🇨🇦
