It is not a shame they failed this fast, it is better for them to fail at the start and have plenty of time to recover individually than failing in the future when you are very old to compete with the young generation. I’m glad you brought up the story cutscenes being gimmicky at best. It’s supposed to be their “ace in the hole” to stand out but I feel like it’s never worked trying to make pvp only games have forced story because everyone just wants to play the game and skip it. Reminds me of halo infinite trying to do a multiplayer story across seasons but they made it so anemic that no one cared. Even the titans of this kind of story animation, team fortress 2 and Overwatch, keep those as trailers outside of the game that take a long while to make. A weekly cutscene is unsustainable.

The GotG Wish edition is spot on, but I had forgotten about this game. When I saw the trailer emphasizing the single-player aspect, I was intrigued. Another GotG game, possibly allowing play as each character, sounded great. However, once I saw the gameplay, I quickly lost interest. I did try it and had fun, mainly because it was free. The movement, as you mentioned, is lacking, unless you choose a character with movement aids like Double Jump or dodging in the air; otherwise, it's all slow. It might be because I haven't played OW2 in a while, but the 10-second respawn timer is frustrating. I hope Sony takes note and lets the studio create a game that feels more modern, designed for 2024 rather than 2014. This game could be good with a co-op single-player mode. Only time will tell.

I personally thought it was fun but I appreciate the effort you put into your criticisms and also that you did not lean into the same old tired conservative culture-war tropes that most other reviewers are.

Wouldn’t say it’s bad, just extremely average and doesn’t do what it’s trying to do better than the games it’s trying to compete with…. Just adequately at best. It’s not bad and is actually quite polished but nowhere near worth its full price and I have no doubt it’ll be goingF2P on launch or soon after and I feel like a delay is incoming. Honestly I think it’s over for it, the gaming hivemind has already decided that they hate it and that it’s not even worth putting a minute into it and honestly I can’t say the sentiment is wrong. it’s been shown time and time again with the gaming industry these past few years that’s probably the most important thing imaginable.

Totally agree on the aspect of combat being sparse, but the presentation is generally quite good. Cutscenes are animated very well, the characters are expressive, the voice acting being cheesy and overdramatic is literally going hard on the overall laid-back comicbook aesthetic, and the comic slideshows are drawn very well. Complaining about these elements in particular is nitpicking and preference at best. Not every form of presentation needs to be taken super seriously, it's very obvious that the game has a very chill and laidback appeal to it. Hoyoverse is very casual about their games, expecting a hardcore experience will generally leave you dissappointed. If you're looking for a story hook and reason to get invested, Honkai Star Rail does it much better than Genshin in my opinion, pretty much every aspect of the storytelling and presentation has been at least slightly improved in that game.

I played the game it’s good but not a game I would play a lot and takes more storage than my other games so I’m glad you spoke about this and the fan service will not change my mind either

Db Ult system is PtW dog sht, they should delete this piece of poo and steal new rank system from Wuwa's Illusive Realm which give us 30%crit 30%CritDMG 30%DMG for SS rank. I finished all standart Shiuy Defense stages. 10's Stage piss me off so much, coz ult dps check ptw system not allowed you to complete this stage with crap DPS characters like S0 Anton/KIDO/Corin, you need at least S3 Ellen/Soldier 11/Grace for smooth run without no hit rng perfect dodge run's (coz dps CHECKING ult checking phase- fuck y so hard) - this is real time bomb, that will detonate when vast majority of skilled player's will meet 10 Shiuy Defense stage and suck big HoYo stick. I never really understood that so much people just take this game and analyse them like this super game when in reality they are made to make money, yeah they are way more polished than your average gacha game but at the end of the day its a gacha game, do you want an actually good game? pay for something there is hundreds of game that focus on story and/or gameplay, people complain about zzz repetive gameplay yet praise genshing for being at best a decent open world and at worst a really boring one, the story its not that good either, but why? because its a gacha game and a cash grab thats quite literrally it

I doubt you even got though all the introduction levels with 2 hours of gameplay. At around Level 25 to 30 the game is still introducing new mechanics and gameplay, they just incoorporate it into the story, and they know not all people are interested in the story so they give you a skip button. And it's not a game that you're supposed to finish in 20 hours, it's designed to be logged on daily, and you spend the daily regenerated charges to farm materials though combats. When you get to the endgame and finish all story missions there will be only combats left to do, obviously there'll be additional stories being introduced with new updates, but most of the time between updates you'll be doing combats daily.

Yea, I'ma at 1:47 and I have to stop. I'm about 6 hours into the game and in the story mode there may be mostly tv screen sections (which they plan to remove already) and cutscenes. But there's so much combat in this game. Theres even a rougelite mode like holy shit. This game is packed with content for the combat that unlocks the more you play it. That is just hoyoverse's games. You have to play more than 2 missions to see it all but there is a lot there

I feel like you should give the game more time? For one, maybe the game just isn't trying to appeal to your preferences. This game isn't for everyone, it's art style is different and it's combat is VERY different from genshin impact. As for the combat, you're only playing the story mode, not endgame. You shouldn't expect thats the best of what the game has to offer. You're not playing any of the harder content that forces you to learn the games mechanics. The story mode is meant to be easy as possible so players don't struggle trying to progress. This ain't the peak of zzz. There's a lot of new unexplored playstyles and combat mechanics in the game, yes. But guess why? The game just released. There aren't a lot of characters yet. Look at hsr. They release 2 character every patch and sometimes it still doesn't feel like there's enough 5 stars because of the sheer amount of roles that need to be filled for each playstyle. Aside from that, there's atleast 3 unexplored combat mechanics in that game right now. 2 hours just isn't enough play time to have THIS strong of an opinion. I feel it's not right or fair to say the game isn't good. Atleast just say it isn't for you

Listening to your perspective and opinion on the voice direction and story telling of this game and not loving it, I'd assume you'd feel kinda the same about Wuwa and the other Hoyo games?

I played the first 2 story arc of genshin it's not that deep. You fight the evil dragon, you win and the other is that you fight the hrydo monster to test shinjo. It may get better, but let's not pretend it's a Shakespeare. Honkai isn't anymore intersting, the first thing you sent to do, is go to queen of Greenland and tell her that they need to check up on the sterelon, oh wait, plot twist, she's evil. Loufu had a lot of cut content, and penacony first half is good, but the second has to many lose plot threads, and poor pacing issues. Wuwa isn't that great either, story mediocre, open world is kinda boring, and the only thing it really has going for it, is its combat, and tbh, it's wasn't enough to hold my attention Zzz, sure doesn't have a grand story, but a lot of your complaints are that it needs to have a grand story or having to talk to people...oh no...I understand this game isn't for everyone,but it's like...some ranting about it youtube

I played for about an hour and then quit. I just couldn’t get into it. Normally I’d give a game a better try but it just felt like a huge drag and almost painfully boring to play. As always the graphics and combat are fantastic, but I don’t like the characters or the story and like OP said the pacing is off. Might give it another go at some point but I don’t feel very motivated to go back to it at the moment.

Did you call the hand drawn comic style cutscenes cheap ? :o They probably took more time and effort then the one pose and moving mouth cutscenes in genshin and honkai. And I think that it shows that they definetily did put money in them and the artists got paid rightly. As for the game combat and story quests I agree and feel like hoyoverse is making the same game just in different scenarios. I think that they really should make more differences like combat based game, multiplayer game etc. Also, the beginning of the story feels like we've already played for a few months and now are doing some basic daily tasks in between main story updates.

I think the story is the strong point of this game but the combat is quite dull and repetitive and I would skip it if I could. But I have to agree the white hares or whatever they're called are very cliche which would be fine if they were minor characters but they're not and get really annoying real fast, especially the mask guy and the boss who is always on about money, the sword girl and cat girl are okay nothing special but at least they didn't make me cringe.

bro if u dont want to play just quit no one force you to paly it also the stories are quite well written its not too perfect but still there are a lot more that you can find out if u play more instead of two hours seriously also the manga showing cg are pretty unique too the combat sistem is quite fun too its not just like honkai impact 3rd and they made it as ez for us to understand as possible bro also story telling is a part of the game if u want to say at the least u can skip the story not like genshin u have to manually do that and waste hour just to skip or read ... also there are things similar to genshin and star rail u can farm stuff afterward that u dont need to read or skip lol play longer before u say the game is shit lmao know it before judge it there are a tons of stuff that u can do the longer u play my schedule list in the game is basically full of mission and almost most of them are combat missions lol i dont understand if u just played it for two hour then just get out two hour in a game is not even much

I wish they had a hardcore mode like battlefield 1 where it’s more realistic to the clone wars, like no HUD and only basic weapons and low ttk
