Akai MPC Secret For CHOPPING SAMPLES Like a Pro
In this video I go over 2 techniques for chopping samples within the Akai MPC Live II. The first one, is layer your chops with other drum one-shots or get creative and layer one-shots with other sounds or samples. The other technique I go over very quickly, so you might miss it. It's chopping by "region" and being a little more random, but the entire point is to make music and have fun doing it!
I hope you enjoyed this video. Be sure to subscribe, like and share if you found anything useful in this video or so it can reach people who can really use it. Also, if you want to me to make a video about something specific, let me know in the comments.
Peace!!

    I’m still new at the MPC, what is the reason for resampling the drum loop?

    • @thahyst
      @thahyst ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I got you, man. There's a few different reasons why I would resample the drum loop. I did it in this video just to; 1. Have it for later on use and add it to my sound library. And, 2. To have a little more control and ability to change it up more by chopping the resampled drum loop. Resampling can also help add a little texture to sounds as well.

    I find a cool process with stems (and also a time saver, especially if you're doing manual chops) is to chop the original sample and THEN create the stems, that way each stemmed sample will have all those chops in place ready to be processed into programs/tracks.

    Okay genuine question, i don't know pretty much anything about this machine. At this point why would you not just use a DAW?? Wouldn't the appeal of working with a physical machine be to get away from screens and hear the music instead like with an SP404?? This just looks like a beat machine with a DAW built inside.

    • @thahyst
      @thahyst 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I see what you mean, but if you used any of the older MPC's, you would know why. I started using the MPC in 2007 when it was pretty much just analog, the MPC500, and MPC2500. I still use the MPC because the hands-on approach, and it's still one of the best (in my opinion). The SP404 is really cool, but I can see them making a similar "DAW" type of move in the future. Roland & Akai have always had a little competition. Not to mention, in the new MPC, you can have it in older MPC modes, giving a bit of a different sound. Honestly, they're just fun!

    Quick question, say i wanted to put a drum fill at the end of the intro to bring in the beat...how would i add that to the arrangement?

    • @thahyst
      @thahyst 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You would want to highlight the area in the arranger where you want to record a drum fill (like a bar right before the verse) and record it in, then it should add that to your arrangement. I'll spend a little more time in the arranger for my next video, i hope that makes sense. Thank you for watching, btw 🙌

    • @GaryCOLLOMAN.

    • @thahyst
      @thahyst 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @GaryCOLLOMAN. In the slicing window, you should be able to "sync to bpm," but if not than you might have to chop it and finger drum it on the pads.

    How do you parallel process and I want to record my drummer? I need 10-12 (drums) audio tracks. As I'm recording, I like to use my Neeve emulation VST. How can I achieve this in the MPC.? Thats how we do things in Cubase and Protools..

    • @thahyst
      @thahyst 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I believe you can do this in the MPC One, Live, and the X. I'm almost certain we can parallel process and parallel compress in the MPC Live. You can definitely record up to 12 audio tracks (depending on the internal drive it may or may not lag a bit), and you can even plug in an interface to the MPC Live. I'll do a video on this and try to cover recording drums on multiple tracks and parallel process, thanks for watching, by the way!

    When you say batch the tracks. I have seen in other videos where you went into the track editing you can choose and change the order of the tracks. So instead of deleting them you can make track 15 to be track 1 and track 3 to be track 2 etc. and it will move their order.

    • @thahyst

      Yeah, I meant like, grouping the tracks together so they can be deleted at once, instead of one at a time. That's a good work-around though. Thanks bro, I'll have to play around with the track editing feature and see what I can do, and I'll go over it in one of my next videos 🙌

I got a call from a tech who was using my ORIGIONAL CASE (transferring licenses on "open box" (returned) item I bought, NOT the new case I opened or the bug report I made. Looks like "your case is never really closed" (can be reopened by replying to an email) IS TRUE! Actually I have gotten help with several issues that way.
