@ahimsainternational I agree 100 %. I also saw productions where Norma and Pollione are standing alone and singing alone. Looking at the audience. Which to me doesn't make any sense at all. As you said - singing and acting here are sublime, touching and convincing. But Sondra Radvanovsky and Joseph Calleja are always a perfect match. I am looking forward very much to their Tosca in Barcelona. And yes this is the Met production. And the whole production is worth watching if only on video. Just great.
2 of my absolute favorite singers today.
It's hard to believe that there have not been any comments in the almost 20 months since this was uploaded. This appears to be the Met performance with an astonishing duet with Sondra Radvanovsky and Joseph Calleja. I watched about ten versions of this poignant duet from the last act. It is the only one in which the emotions of the conflicted lovers are depicted in a realistic manner. For example, in some productions, Pollione is not even looking at Norma when he asks for forgiveness. He is often singing to the audience, not to Norma. In some productions, Norma is more aloof, concentrating more on the music than the drama. I feel this performance rivals the best of Callas in terms of the acting and the psychological state of the parents who are about to die. Norma is a lover and mother, not a priestess. However, Pollione's heart has been moved by her nobility. The acting here is as good as the voices so it deserves more views and thumbs up!

Awful. Where's the emotional connection between Adalgisa and Norma. Callas and Stigani understood it so did Sutherland and Horne. Radonovsky is just so unsuitable for Norma. She's over acting . Opera is well and truly dead

This is the way it is in the opera and what the duet is all about. It’s not a concert.

@@fernangreigosa4580 No. Opera is about acting through the voice. The more one acts with the voice, the less one has to do physically. Stage action should be planned out to support what is going on musically, particularly in a Bellini opera where the long, uninterrupted musical line is everything. Anything that distracts the audience’s concentration from the line in Bellini is problematic.
And I thought opera was theater.
She does not have the agility to pull this off. The tremble is painful.
My problem is voice is not clear and lacks a true chiaroscuro. No chestvoice and bad videos.
She lacks the technique. Coloratura is a technique. You can inhabit it with enough Belcanto arias or Mozart arias

Con toda la sinceridad: no es Ópera para él... requiere más fuerza lírica...
Con todos los repetos, Juan Diego Flores canta bien...eso, canta bien, pero claro nunca llegará a la altura de los Kraus, Domingo, Lavirgen, Corelli, Di Stéfano...entre otros. De los actuales, en mi humilde opinión, prefiero a Marcelo Álvarez o a Rolando Villazón. Además, pienso que Juan Diego Flores es un poquito chulito y enterado, sí, de esos que mean colonia, pero repito, es solo una percepción mia.
